One would think that a pneumatic grease gun should not bring a grown man to tears of frustration..... but they both did. I own 2 one from Lowes and the 2nd from Harbor Tools. On the surface the problems I am experiencing seem to happen with both the same. No grease comes out !

Basically I pull the plunger out to the maximum stop. But a newly purchase tub of grease in. Remove the "pop top" off the new tube of grease. Screw the canastor with the tube of grease back into the rest of the gun, release the plunger and pull the trigger. (Yes to hooking up the air line).

Lots of good air sounds when I pull the trigger but no grease comes out.... I've noticed that the plunger doesn't "feel" like it can go up into the open end of the tube of grease. In both guns it seems like the plunger cannot go into the tube only the rod that the plunger is on seems to be able to move up into the tube of grease.....

Guys I need some suggestions I am either going to "retire" both grease guns and purchase a new cordless gun or I will get these working in the next few days. Any secrets you can share with me how to get these air guns to work reliably would be very much appreciated. .

I want to save what tears of frustration I have left for my Federal Tax return.

i just bought one at TSC. I found that the plunger doesn't fit inside the cartridge to push the grease up. i need to play with it more.

I've been completely satisfied with the pneumatic Lincoln I've had for almost 10 years.

Another vote for the pneumatic lincolns.

The piston should just press on the grease with spring pressure. The rod should travel the entire way to the top of the grease tube.

Try packing the head (hose end) of the gun with grease, it can sometimes work to help prime the pump. Also try running the rod in and out as it can help as well. Try storing your grease guns upside down. If its cold out, keep the gun somewheres a little warm too.

I never seat the barrel into the head, when I put a new tube in, leaving it a tad loose to burp the air out, when I release the plunger. A couple of the guns I have, have like a 1/16" hole in the head of the gun, in the threaded part, to let air out. One other has a bleeder valve in the head to let the air out.

The old greese guns with a lever are trouble enough. I don't think I want to try the pneumatic kind.:banghead:

on my hand pump grease gun, i have to take to long trod and kind of force the plunge down into the grease.

Some have a bleed button with a spring on top to bleed. On mine I have to make sure the plunger is entering the tube. If I try greasing with more than 80# air pressure the gun locks up so I set the pressure around 60#.
