Griffin Dump Trailer Issues Never Again

The fact that only one side of the shackle for the leaf springs is worn kind of tells me that it's not an overweight situation. How did your tires fail?

I have never owned a trailer with anything other than plastic bushings in there and they wernt greased. The last one I took appart had worn out plastic bushings in there. After 15yrs you cant expect to not need to replace parts. However 1yr of use I wouldnt.

Maybe this is why Dexter is the standard in trailer parts?

I'm guessing they de rated after poor performance.
They didnt de rate anything. Theres typicaly two axles. 6000x2 is 12,000lbs

It is not Lippert or Dexter parts that fail or don't fail. It is the trailer manufacturer that is in control of the suspension specs. Economy trailers might spec this type, first picture. In my opinion,10k or less. For 12k-16k the second style is preferred.

They sell to a price point for sure. Griffin is a very common brand around here if you view the local trailer dealers offerings. They have a 5x10 7k dump in what I would call a homeowner class that was listed on a lot of dealer sites for $5200-5500 last year. Just over $5k is pretty inexpensive for a new dump trailer. It's clearly built lighter than many both in reinforcing and axles 2@3500lb - you can find other brands with that small size getting closer to $8k price tags when they build them heavier. Used rotted steel ones are often 3-5k here. Even knowing what I know, I've toyed with getting one and dealing with the shortcomings. I work a lot and it's hard to schedule / hire other people to do stuff when I need it - Often it's more convenient to buy it and have it whenever the need arises. pretty easy to sell & recoup a reasonable amount of the initial cost. Since I have a 1/2 ton, buying a bigger one won't let me haul more in a single trip anyways.
