Bought a 2018 Kubota KX-040-4 with 1635 hours, cab, thumb, and 6 way blade. I'll share some maintenance and repairs and projects that I do with it, hopefully it will help someone thinking about geeting a similar machine.
The man I bought it from used it for personal use on his land. He originally rented it when it had 1000 hours on it and liked it so much that he bought it from the dealer. It has plenty of dents etc but it is hard to find them without those.
One minor issue is that the lower front cab glass was busted. I made a template and I'm waiting for the glass shop to cut me a pice for it.
The major issue with it is that the thumb/bucket pin was broken and the previous owner used bar stock instead of the factory pin. One bushing is missing from the thumb and now the hole is egg shaped. My plan is to use a piece of hard plastic (UHMWPE) as a bushing to get me through the summer and do a full tear down and rebuild next winter of the stick pins and bushings etc.
I will change all fluids and grease everything good. It looks like some of the zerts haven't taken grease in a while so I'll have to work through those issues as needed.
I plan to build a ripper tooth claw for digging tree stumps out. I'll CNC plasma my own quick attach mounting plate and use a ripper tooth from a subsoiler.
I may tint the windows, just have to see if AC can keep up when the summer heat hits.
Any questions just let me know!
PS this is a 40HP approx 10k lb machine the way it is configured.
