John deere 2955 will not turn over unless lights turned on

My JD 2955 will not turn over, unless I turn on the light switch, then it starts fine, but sometimes
turning on the light switch does not help either. It is like no click, no nothing. I put in a new switch and it worked for 1 month, and
now it only cranks sometime when I put the light switch on. I did put a complete rebuilt starter on it. -- any ideas will be appreciated.

Yes, the lights come on when no key is in the ignition.

I would guess it’s a loose connection and you moved it while installing the. New switch. Just a guess

I suggest to relocate battery ground cable from attaching to sheet metal to attaching to engine block. Check clean/tighten all 4 battery cable connections. Check operation of starting relay if applicable located in front of firewall
