My 10 year old Mahindra has started running hot. The onset is not consistent with either the duration of run time or the actual work being done. I noticed that the radiator hose was collapsed. Would a faulty radiator cap cause this? I discovered that Mahindra will not see a water pump by itself, but rather the entire “system “ for $700 which will entail another $500+/- labor charge. Any & all suggestions appreciated!

I believe the possibilities are :
Faulty radiator pressure cap
Deteriorating hose
Clogged radiator passages.
I would replace the radiator hoses, cap, thermostat, and flush the radiator well.

Certainly if the hose collapses that would restrict flow. I have a Mahindra 4510 and it runs warm. Able to keep it cooler by removing the side panels. Lets heat out and air in. Also I need to blow out he radiator fins regularly and they accumulate debris. I also relocated the battery lower so there is more airflow to the radiator.
Did put in an electric push fan but removed it, did nothing to help it seemed.

After that many years of ownership, I would say it’s time to “deep clean” the radiator.
I have had many tractors that would keep overheating as the day went on. Pressurized air would no longer cure the problem.
I’d get some “purple power” type cleaner, spray it into rad fins. Let sit a while, then flush with strong garden hose stream from both sides. Let it dry, and if really bad, repeat the process.
Pressurized air only works so long, then it’s time for a deep cleaning.
