Anybody running a 3 pt snowblower on a BX?

There is only about $600 difference between the front mount and the rear mount Kubota snowblowers. My neck couldn't stand all the backing up and swisting. In North Dakota we blow snow 5-6 months of the year. Last spring we still had 20" of snow on the ground on April 20th. I am forever grateful I got the front mounted snowblower and last year I added a soft cab from Cover My Tractor - Tractor Covers, Tractor cover, Tractor Cab, Tractor Cabs, Skid Steer Covers, Tractor enclosures, tractor enclosure, cab enclosures, cab enclosure, construction equipment covers, construction tractor covers, riding lawn mower covers.

Only $600 difference?

That sounds real low, at least here. IIRC the front mount was over $3000 when I asked.. $3500 rings a bell. My rear mount was under $1500 IIRC.

I have a 60" Farm King 3PH blower on my BX2350 and I really wouldn't want anything smaller. With the machine going in reverse, the front tires will swing out a ways on turns and even with the 60" swath I end up putting the fronts into unblown snow.

If the amount of snow gets to be a bit much for the BX, I just slow down a bit. I've had it in situations where the entire 60"x24" opening is pushing into a snowbank and it has continued to work pretty well.

Some other notes: The 3PH has no problems lifting this blower. I run chains all around, have rear wheel weights and keep the FEL full of sand for maximun traction. Part of my 1,200' driveway includes a 15% grade and I need all the traction I can get pushing the blower up the hill.

I had a Luck-now 52" on my BX 23 for several years. it worked great but you need to keep a pocket full if 1/4 inch bolts and nuts to replace the shear pins.
I just traded the BX with 2200 hours showing for a new B2650 and the blower fits perfectly. Can't wait for it to snow so I can blow snow from the comfort of a heated cab!

I have had both 54" wide 3 pt and a 50" front blower, no contest the front blower is the way to go. Figure a cab with either option. My little BX 2200 had no problem with the 54" 3 point.

Sorry I'm late to the party, I've been out of town. I have a Farm King 50" that is dirt simple but effective. No gear box just a bevel gear off the pto shaft driving a bevel gear on the cross shaft that drives a sprocket and chain. it's all hardware store stuff, nothing special. I've never broke a shear bolt but my drive is paved. I do split the shear points every season and grease the mating surfaces so they don't rust together. I've said this before but I'll say it again, the BX is not terribly hard to use with a 3 point blower. You sit sideways on the seat and your right heal operates the reverse pedal. Sure a front blower would be easier but I would rather keep my FEL on and be able to knock down snow piles or quickly scrape off 3 or 4" from the drive. The only thing I would add to this blower is a replaceable wear edge- maybe next year.

I"m looking at picking up a BX2280 with a rear blower (54") and I would love to know if you have much of a grade to work on. Looking at getting a BX2380 with a rear blower, but worried about front tire traction for steering. My neighbour, who only pushes snow with his slightly larger tractor and a less aggressive grade, says he has some issues with the front tires floating.
My Kubota B2789 rear blower on my BX25 works great. Very powerful, and much more sturdy than the front-mounted model.

I have a very steep driveway, and I'm looking at a BX2280 with a rear 54" blower and I'm worried about traction. (Backtires on this one come loaded). My neighbour mentioned his driveway which isn't quite as steep, tends to lead to his front tires floating and making steering dodgy, but he doesn't have a rear blower, he just pushes snow around.

My original comment is in this thread , so now I have been using my rear blower for 8 years, works fantastic, 2 foot deep sections many a time [ 300 ft of driveway) I leave the front bucket on so plenty of weight and front and then I can backblade. Four wheel drive always engaged. 20171125_113910.jpg
