Baumalight PTO Generator

I wouldn’t buy any 2 pole generators the power output isn’t pure enough for a lot of stuff in your home pay the extra money and get a 4 pole much cleaner power. if you don’t know what I'm talking about just look for the ones running at 1800 rpm (4 pole) vs. 3600 rpm (2 pole). Winco makes a 27500 PTO model that should be a good option for a whole house generator.

That particular model works well for me. We had about a 10 hour outage after a storm during the heat of summer, it was nice having the air conditioner running in the house.

I've had no issues with electronic equipment using my TX12. TV's, satellite receiver, computers, test equipment, as well as the electronic appliance controls all work fine. The only problem I've noticed is my AC powered clocks gain about 2 minutes per day.

I can't swear that ALL electronic equipment will work though.

I've only had one generator damage electronics in the house over the years, and it was the result of a loose / disconnected wire on the voltage regulator. That was a 7kw Generac that provided rock solid service for 15 years. I gave it to my electrician neighbor, who diagnosed and fixed the voltage regulator issue.
I now use (2) inverter generators (1.8kw and 3.5kw), and a two pole 15kw pto generator that powers the house without issue.

Had a PTO generator, it was nice not having another piece of equipment to have to maintain. Biggest problem was I could never walk the wife thru how to hook it up if I wasn't home.

I had this debate over the years, then it became a non issue when I retired. Wife is funny with stuff... She can diagnose and repair any appliance in our home (and does on a regular basis), but she claims starting and hooking up the generator and running any outdoor equipment is too complicated.

That's why I decided to go with the cradle. I will leave the gen hooked up on one of my tractors and leave it parked in the lean-to part of my house. That way she can just fire it up without moving.

As far as the 2 pole/4 pole, I have been using a cheap Champion and it's only a 2 pole and it hasn't done any damage.
I had to replace it because one day it suddenly wouldn't start so I brought it to my mechanic friend and it had only 30 PSI of compression. He even tried to tighten the valves up and still no compression. We don't know if it glazed the cylinder or what? But I'm sick of dealing with small engines and gas sitting in them going bad.

For those with a Bauma Light.....like I said, it will be parked under a lean to so I can run tractor without moving. Rain usually never blows in nor does the snow (maybe just a dust when it's windy) Here is a pic, other than I will back tractor in so the generator is against the wall.
How well are the generators sealed up? Should I close in part of the lean-to where the generator sits?

It used to be easy to find the IP rating of generators and other equipment. I briefly looked for one for the Baumalight and didn't see one.
Mine has always been run outside and stored outside I do have a plastic sheet (ag bag plastic) that I keep it covered with.
I have had snow storms that buried it almost out of sight while it's been running.

I've always been concerned with running my PTO generator outside in weather. So far it's not been an issue, but a large trash can cover is on my list. There are a few topics on TBN with some very clever ideas that I screen shot for reference.
I have a heavy vinyl banner that can be staked over the generator to keep most of the rain / snow off of it.
