Starlink

Aren't you happy for the uptime?

If you can't say it I will: StarLink is the best rural service I've ever had. Faster even to make voice calls which we've NEVER had before, but also just daily internet stuff.

Whiny people need to fall back to Hughs, etc for a bit.
For sure... 100%. Starlink has been incredibly reliable for us after the beta period ended in late 2021. Fewer system outages than any terrestrial ISP I've had. Outages like this where some unexpected issue (a software update in this case) do happen to the best of us and I'm tolerant of it. That's why, as a husband and wife that both WFH, we have backup solutions. My ATT Mobley plan (using a Netgear Nighthawk for many years now) for $20/mo still works great and gets put into service in these rare times. Always have a cell hotspot to fall back on too.

We had two ISPs from 2020 until we retired. The Starlink outages are rare and usually short. The wired kinds always seem to get vermin or digging that severs a line.

By now everyone knows this was a wide-spread outage and ours came back late last evening. However, this morning it is gone again and has been since I arose at 4 a.m. and it's now 10. Oh well.
Ours is fine. Problem is either localized or maybe with your dish/router?

If you haven't already, I'd reboot the equipment.

Mine went down too. I switched to my cell Hotspot and it was buffering so bad I gave up and Starlink came back on about 6 pm yesterday.
My first problem in over 8 months, not a bad record. I naturally assumed it was my equipment.

Im wondering if it’s just me. Starling is down. The speed test
Shos.20 mbps download but nothing works. (Switched to 5g. 1 bar)

Here in eastern PA, I noticed a slowdown in speed on Saturday evening. Dropped to 9/3 around 10:30 PM. Back up to 130/20 this morning though.

Just ran a test and got 333 down, 14 up.

My normal is in the 150/10 range so working well this morning.

I got Starlink about a year ago. Now they're running fiber down my street. Supposed to have everyone hooked up by October. Figures! Just as I might be buying some property and moving. It looks like the Starlink gear will probably be needed at the next place though.

Exact thing happened to me. There trenching in the fiber conduit as i type. Im going to keep the starlink as a backup on some kind of holding plan. Im looking into them right now. Ive been told they have a $10/ month plan that leaves it in limbo with a small available bandwidth for emergency use only.
