I got a start this afternoon making receiver sockets for welding cable holders.

Drilled and tapped for setscrew

Squared and plumb. Tacked to frame. I’m not totally sold on the concept and location yet so I’ll probably think about it overnight before welding it up.

Sleeping on it overnight is like Magic I learned at the age of 7 and has worked well for me for the pass 61 years. Your work looks like art by the way.

We’re the same age , Gale!

Unfortunately more often than not, I wake up the next morning and realize “What was I THINKING???”

I know the feeling some mornings. :)

Last night I went to bed with a scheduling conflict because I was not paying attention. This morning I woke realizing the conflict was actually for the best permitting me to experiment with charging the Leaf at the Ford dealership since my level to charger has not arrived yet.

Seriously stopping an hour early on a project has saved me both time and money because over night my brain developed a better and often cheaper plan.

I am loving your shop thread. Keep coming with the photos.

A better plan didn’t come to me so I went to the shop early and welded up the cable holder receivers as is.

Used this little Miller to weld it up.....and yes the irony is not lost on me

And used 6013 rods for no good reason other than if I decide to post this on Welding Web a bunch of guys over there will get totally bent out of shape.

That’ll be my shop time for today. Off to get groceries...

I decided to receiver mount a work light today so that it can be used anywhere in the shop that has a receiver.

Two inch square tube 1/8” wall. Holes drilled for a swivel TV mount that I no longer used.

Flanges plug welded for the light mounting assembly.

Brackets for angle grinders.

Mounted on portable work table

Close up of TV swivel for light fixture.

Seems to be okay but I’ll try it for awhile before I paint it.

I like the grinder holders. I'll borrow that idea and add a couple to my welding table if you don't mind? Thanks Terry.

Absolutely, Richard.

The clearance between the guard and body of the grinders vary and I’ve found .125”x2”x2” angle works well.

The 2” to 2 1/2” radius cutout ensures a fit for all my different grinders.

A grinder with a cup style wire brush may need a little more horizontal clearance than 2”.

I have on on my welding table but I never seen to use it.

The one next to the vise in my grinding area gets the most use.

You don't even need the cutout. Mine are hanging on a piece of angle with one leg pointed up. 1/8" thick works well overall.

I've learned so much on this thread! Great ideas here. Thanks for starting this Terry.
