airline Food For Thought

I have a two or three air hose reels placed in and outside my shop door as well as several wall mounted outlets.

Im not certain if this overhead system will be of interest to anyone but perhaps it may fit the needs of a small shop.

I made it a few years ago not certain if it would work or if I would even find it beneficial. As it turns out I really like it.

Parts list:

50 ft (min) air hose
3/16” ss cable
wire rope cable clamps and thimbles
clothesline (or better quality) pulleys
plastic zip ties
turnbuckle
brackets to be fabricated as necessary for situation.

System in use

I love using these Mag Squares. When energized and in place I can then use a rubber mallet to tap the assembly square or level.

Re: Big Barn痴 Retirement Farm Shop

Y'know, I have so many magnetic indicator bases I oughta be using the extra ones' bottoms as light-duty versions for similar setups, or to hold/align a small laser.

No big jobs intended, but sometimes you want to steady something juuust long enough to put a serious pipe or 'C' clamp on to drill or weld it.

Puny as these subs would surely prove to be, a 'third hand' doesn't always need to be as strong as the first two. ;)

Still deciding which of the 'real' ones will serve me best. Could there be some 'gotta have' ones to recommend for one or two pairs?

You totally understand the concept. And your switchable indicator bases will work fine!

Oftentimes the magnets are only required to hold in place while you setup a mechanical clamping device. I also find them great for mockups as often times I have a hard time visualizing how a project should look.

I only have two Mag Square 400’s. They’re rather spendy but I can get by fine with a pair.
