What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

ahhh I see,, I had hoped that the hydraulic tensioners were a good thing on my L12, but it sounds like I will need to replace them with the old original style tensioners. I would guess that after tracks "break in", they wont need much adjusting. My first 10 hours needed several track...

Thanks,, I will check it out.. I have seen a few people with a ripped track already. Could be operator error, lack of maintenance, or the thing none of us want to hear,, defective part.. What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

I expect minimum of 1000 hrs. May need to replace the Briggs before that, I don't think the quality of new small engines is anything like it was 30 years ago. I have older equipment with Briggs, Kohler, Kawaski engines that have over 1000 hrs with no problems. The pump will probably fail before...
  7. oldrustysteel

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

I agree.. My L12 has been great, other than the hyd pick-up tube issue. $3000 more for a Kubota engine and I would be expecting a lot more out of the machine. I think the Briggs powers the machine almost perfectly. A Chevette will never be a Cadillac, no matter what engine you put in it.
  8. oldrustysteel

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

I see 2 issues with the Kubota engine. Price.. adding $3000 to the 1ton model takes the fun out of owning it for me.. Space.. These are compact machines and that is usually an advantage, however, working on them is usually difficult as the engine bay is rather small and mostly enclosed. The...

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

Definitely. I find its much easier to weld in reinforcements when something is straight, before it gets bent and twisted. Often its impossible for me to get something back to perfect. Besides, most people want to add weight to their machine, so I can add it 1lb at a time!! :)

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

Impressive. I dont know if I can get used to going up and down hills that steep!! maybe if I had an E-brake and 3 point harness. Trails for hiking? Mountain biking?

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

Interesting point about the COG. Never thought about testing it on my L12. I have the cast iron counter weight so maybe its closer to being balanced than others. I have not yet felt the need for more weight, but I am all for making the lil guy all it can be. On machines that are heavier on the...

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

The L12 definitely has a known issue with hyd pick-up tube being too short. Someone had a machine shop make one, but it cost about $120 DOLLARS!! I am waiting for a cheaper fix since the weather here is bad enough, I cant use the baby digger till spring. I filled my tank almost to the top and...

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

I was suprised at the amount of wear in the pump with so few hours. What will it look like at 100 hours? Definite proof of the need for filtration. A point you make often. Without 2-speed drive motors we are stuck with slow but fairly strong drives. I can live with that far easier than fast and...

Good idea on temp gauge. I already bought the temp and a fuel gauge. I hope it works. let me know how it goes with the port on filter base. I think mine needs drilled and tapped.

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

Sounds like all I need to do, is adapt my filter base, 3/4, down to 1/2" then 1/2" to M22. I am pretty sure I remember using "Bushings" to reduce down in size with NPT fittings. Am I mistaken?

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

The prices seem to be falling now. I see the L12 for $2000 less than I paid for mine. Soon there will be used broken ones pretty cheap. I hope that's what happens. You probably know about the hydraulic inlet tube that is too short and starves the pump on inclines. Thanks for keeping us...

If this is the filter you are installing, it may be as simple as 2 adaptors. Auctions are often used to sell items that may not be as good as they should be. If you buy a Lemon, you usually have no way to get things made right. I have heard that AGT does not honor warranties on auction machines. I don't have all the answers, but it's obvious that there are some new...

Interesting idea with the redneck float.. I can see how that would lower the downpressure and allow the blade to lift, but that would take incredible coordination in my opinion. Agrotk excavators: Does anyone have one? Opinions/comments/critiques?

I really hope we have more charge than that.. I was hoping for the 10 amps I understood the Briggs to have. I dont think there is any other way to cool these hot blooded little diggers than electric fans.

Agrotk excavators: Does anyone have one? Opinions/comments/critiques?

All of the baby-X from China that I have looked at under $10000, have either or, not both. I cannot find any info on the AGT website that tells what the unit is set up with. When I saw the pic of my machine before I bought it, I was happy to see the hyd cooler and fan. Then came the...

I will install the filter and hopefully get many years of service from the machine. But like you, I dont really expect Kubota quality at AGT prices. However, I am impressed at 22hrs. What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

Just curious,,, I have a small Kubota made in 1980. No hydraulic filter other than the suction screen that I clean when I change the hydraulic oil every 3 or 4 years. 2400 hrs and never a problem and still no leaks. Am I just lucky? It has a Westendorf quick attach loader and I use it a lot.

That will be interesting, I think most people will be surprised at the lifting power. I cut logs in the Daniel Boone National Forest 40 years ago and I learned something about the weight of logs. I am comfortable guessing my machine will lift 800lbs or more under the right conditions.

on the AGT website the smallest brushcutter is 54" and recommended for 3-8 ton excavators. they are sold out at $2500. you are looking at a huge jump in price to get in the 3-4 ton range. maybe $25000. That takes all the fun out of it for me. I will keep thinking about making a brushcutter for...

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

AGT in Chicago has the H12 for 5000 delivered. In my opinion, the L12 is superior. You should know that the L12 had a defect in the hydraulic system. It should be corrected now.
