Need advice on 30 -40hp tractor purchase

My vote would be for a larger frame 40hp. You will appreciate the extra traction. I have a Rear Pull snowblower and I love it. They are more prevalent in Canada than the US. I have a MK Martin/Meteor. Pronovost, Normand, Lucknow, Erskine, Farm King, Smyth Welding and Bush Hog all make them...

I would go with the larger 14.9-26. BTW what kind of tractor are you buying? FWIW, I've had R1s and R4s. I'm all about traction so I prefer the R1s. In greasy snow, the R4s turned into racing slicks. I suspect they would do the same in mud. I wish tractor manufacturers offered R4s in the...

I suppose it is possible that in heavy grass the hinged blades swing back and don't cut well. I agree to sharpen the blades for grass. It will also help to adjust the mower so the rear end is elevated. This will make the discharge much more effecient.

jd 850 pto question--doesn't ease into gear

I had a John Deere 850, and it was a great little tractor. Here is an excerpt from my TBN Review: Pros: Very affordable compact utility tractor. Gear shift transmission and slightly larger frame make it a bit dated, but still a great value. Cons: Only one- the PTO clutch is a bit touchy -...

Kubota L4200GST tractor - question about the operation of the gearbox.

Here is a good video that describes the GST. I like mine. There is a slight pause as you shift into a different gear. The pause is slightly longer if that gear change also involves a range change. If your pauses are longer than that, maybe you need a slight linkage adjustment.

Why do we like trails so much?

I find it addictive. I would locate my new trail routes with flagging tape. Over the years, we've had a few straight line winds come through, so cutting the downfalls can be daunting. I'll have to try the tracking function of Hunt Stand again and see if it is so so erratic.
