Thinking of getting a new smaller chainsaw

I would not be afraid of a nano chain. I run a Stihl 1/4" Picco bar/chain on my Echo 2511 and it actually holds up better than I thought it would and its super easy to sharpen and is much faster and smoother cutting than the 3/8" pitch chain it came with stock. I use the Stihl 2 in 1 files to...

Thinking of getting a new smaller chainsaw

Check out this thread on the CS2511 Echo 2511T is an amazing saw! A lot of good information about it there and for a small saw this one is hard to beat.

Bad Boy Zero Turn Safety Devices

You should just have to set the brake and shut off the PTO to keep the engine running. I wouldn't try to over ride the PTO safety.

Pros to having a riding mower over a zero-turn

This is all true. My ZTR is almost as wide as the deck which is 50" so it is very stable on hills, but as you mentioned side hilling it has a tendency to want to slide if its too wet.
  7. K

Pros to having a riding mower over a zero-turn

This does show the ONE thing I can think of that a lawn tractor may be better at, steep hills. Though in my case my ZTR still handles my hills as good as my JD used to and actually doesn't bog at all going up them like my JD did.

UTV vs Tractor trailer. 3 teenagers dead.

I live in farm country and I can tell you a 13 year old driving 2 other teens around on public roadways in a SXS is not normal or encouraged. Its also very illegal.
  9. K

UTV vs Tractor trailer. 3 teenagers dead.

Man what an awful thing for that truck driver to have to live with even though it wasn't his fault. What the hell was a 13 year old doing driving on a public road anyway? Really poor judgment from the parents of those teens. Sad.

Pros to having a riding mower over a zero-turn

The diesel ones are pretty rare which might explain why there isn't much to compare to out there.

Pros to having a riding mower over a zero-turn

Ive noticed that, at least with the residential models like mine. Mine still had the good serviceable wheel motors, Kawasaki engine and good deck design. They have since went to the Chinese engines and much cheaper wheel motors. The commercial units are still solid from what I can tell but...

Pros to having a riding mower over a zero-turn

I ditched my JD Lawn tractor in favor of an Exmark ZTR over a decade ago and have never once looked back. I kept the JD around for a summer because I thought I would need it to pull my small yard trailer, thatcher and aerator but my ZTR actually pulls all of those better than my JD could ever...

Is frequent short term use harmful?

My guess is to ensure it burns off any residual moisture in the engine. Either way I agree with some here. Just run it when you need it and keep up on maintenance and it will be fine. I'd rather use my tractor for 20 minutes here and there than not use it at all.

Echo 2511T is an amazing saw!

It can be. Mine needed a little tuning after break in which is originally why I removed the limiters on the carb. If you can do buy do one mod though I highly recommend the 1/4” pitch conversion, cuts so much better than the stock 3/8” bar/chain that most come with.
  15. K

Echo 2511T is an amazing saw!

Yeah, I tossed the limiters and wish now I hadn’t. It is kind of a pain to get to the screws with the saw running. Not a huge deal but annoying nonetheless.

    Engine noise on new CX2510

Yes!! Its my only real complaint with my CX. It actually contributed to me dropping my brand new wood chipper off the forks yesterday taking it off the truck. Id be interested to learn more about the restrictors you mention.
  19. K

    Engine noise on new CX2510

It’s an old school mechanically injected diesel, they are loud and rattly. Unless you notice a lack of power or an unusual amount of smoke I wouldn’t worry about it. As for the three point, use the knob under the seat between your feet to adjust how fast the three point lowers.

The lightest Stihl top handle saw is 1/2 pound heavier and less displacement. It also feels like a brick in the hand compared to the 2511T. Also this video shows the quality difference between the two. I love Stihl, but in the small top handle saws Echo has it.

Yeah, that doesn't help but all of these carport style shelters have it running this way. No way to bend the steel over the edges otherwise. In the heavy rain we had yesterday though it shed the water pretty well, didn't see much of any standing water afterwords.

What to Look for in Zero Turn Mower

Get a unit with a good fabricated and deep deck, ZT2800 HST's at minimum and the Kawasaki engines are the best hands down until you get up in the high HP commercial units. Also the bigger the tires the better and make sure the seat is comfortable.

Is it time to consider electric?

When I was still working in a machine shop we had to have foundations installed to set two huge CNC mills on. The contractors used deisel powered skid steers and stuff in the shop, made us all sick. I would have loved for them to be electric then! 🤣

What is the fastest way to burn a pile of logs?

Ive burned some really big piles of wood with the help of some backpack blowers and a walk behind. I borrowed a couple from friends too. Set them up in a circle around the pile, use a cinder block to keep the tubes in place and set the throttle lock. Then some diesel and used motor oil to get...

What did you buy this week?

Yeah, that is one of those things I wish I had purchased a long time ago! The carb looked like brand new when it came out, even took most of the corrosion off of the aluminum.

What did you buy this week?

I bought this Toro Super Recycler off Facebook for $40. New blade, drive belt, filter plug and threw the carb in the ultrasonic cleaner and now it’s running like new. $600 mower new!

What do you drive for a truck?

You're really reaching here. Is a Crown Victoria a truck? What about an old Cadillac? You're only requirement you listed is body on frame, so what is it? All the older cars that were body on frame are trucks now? Or are you just too stubborn to admit you're wrong?

What do you drive for a truck?

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia "Trucks" and "Lorry" redirect here. For other uses, see Truck (disambiguation) and Lorry (disambiguation). A truck or lorry is a motor vehicle designed to transport freight, carry specialized payloads, or perform other utilitarian work. Trucks vary greatly...

What do you drive for a truck?

By definition you're incorrect. My opinion of what a truck is to me is subjective of course, a full frame plus all that is listed below and I would say rear wheel drive or four wheel drive, not front wheel drive. But at its basic definition the Ridgeline surely would fall into the truck...

What do you drive for a truck?

Eh, Im on the side of it not being a truck, more like a minivan with a bed. That being said I cant hate on them too much, they have their place and have nice features. In its size class though its easily outdone by the rest of the midsized trucks in almost every way as far as capability but...

My dealer recommended I change the fluid too at 50 hours even though the manual said not to. I’m glad I did, I was already under there pulling filters so draining the fluid wasn’t anymore difficult and now I’m good for a while. Also the hydro whine has quieted a bit with the new fluid.

The truck itself weighs about 22k and can pull around 15k and of course the payload is 10k. They actually aren’t that slow, we use the one that I was driving in the pic I posted to pull a 14k pound Vietnam era riverboat and it can very easily maintain 65 MPH doing that.

The 3/8” bar and chain that came on this saw was way too much for it. This is a very common mod that lets this thing rip. It’s a 1/4” picco bar and chain setup. Night and day difference in performance.

That's a ton of money for a cheaply built plastic riddled ZTR! You could get into a high end residential or entry level commercial gas unit for that kind of money and it will likely last decades longer than that EGO. Your money though, waste it as you see fit.
