Reading between the lines for cash flow, you want to finance the equipment for the project vs cash or financing a decent used machine. I cannot comment on the Kioti $37K vs TYM $53K for 7 Years but IMO either rent a machine for a week, or buy a used machine and start the project. I know the...

Yes - 2Manyrocks, these "2 ton diesels" have an 80U (micron) in the tank and a spare too. I put magnets in the tank to collect any filings. Also interesting is the pump manufacturers indicate the 80U on the inlet is all that is necessary. I guess as long as one changes the fluid these will run...

Yes Tex, that very much is the case with me - the Kubota has a BH but the mini now does the lifting and rock moving as the helper into the Kubota bucket. It's handy having these tools or toys as my wife calls them. Then it's a Post hole auger, a log holder, a crane etc.

Honestly, they don't need the motor protectors - they were made for the smaller gas units to prevent the bending of the side rails which on the early machines was an issue. Secondary is the motor protection, which if you are deep in rocks and stumps then they will offer some protection. The...

I suggested the Kubota L47TLB. It's a tough machine. The new one is $70K, but that one is $42K, a good deal. They run for 4000 hours, so it's barely broken in at 500 hours. - On your lake side well - I installed a well on our house on a lake in MA in 1980 20' off the lake after our sand point...

They are fine - well built, everything works as it should. The Typhon XVIII is made by Hightop and has the 180MM tracks and Kubota 722 14-15HP engine. The Typhon XIX is made by Vote, and has 230 MM tracks, and a Kubota 902 16 HP or so engine. Also the XIX has a better fit and finish and has...

Thanks for the pics - my machine had a similar thumb and we have a lot of rocks and boulders and the tines were flexing too much for my liking so added two pieces of 3/8" x 3" steel braces between the tines - but still allow for clearing the boom and mating to the bucket properly.

It's the Kubota TLB Series - Tractor - Loader - Backhoe - Specifically made for construction and commercial use with a very rugged frame and underframe protection - these machines are pretty indestructible in most applications. Appears you are in Maine, and have lots of rocks like we do here in NH. Consider getting a full sized used BH 4WD - Case 580, JD 410, Cat 416, Ford 575 or similar - they are 14-16K lbs so can move trees and rocks. They can be found with 3000 hrs for $25-35K then spend the other $30K on a decent...

Small generators on sale at TSC from $179 and up

These are great prices and when i looked at the 2850/3000 unit it was unavailable yesterday, but I checked this morning and bought one - for the portability aspect mainly. For $249 it's hard to beat this deal for an inverter generator and has an Eco mode!

    Advice for first tractor please

Rscotty - as a former farm boy, the old tractors had small front wheels for visibility to see the ground for row crops/plow furrow, and big rears were for traction and pulling. Also for loader frame clearance etc, the smaller wheels are better. But to your point, I can envision a better...

    Gauge Wheels

That appears to be a split rim and tube setup which makes sense for these small wheels/tires. The smaller diameter can be real PIA to get off the rims, then reseated if tubeless, but you should not have an issue with the split rim/tube setup. But, I agree, replacing them with a solid tire is...

New ones range from $44-52K depending on the options from what I have seen - I haven't visited the "build my Kubota" site recently. At the same time looking at the ATI Tach-All QA set up for my B21 - TL421 loader and the weld-on plate for the bucket is $1400 including shipping. Does anyone...

Opinions - Replace B21 TLB with this B26 TLB?

Update - raised my bid and was outbid in an hour - so will raise the bid again and if it goes above my max intent will likely keep my B21. Also, I heard back from a dealer that the B26 is under warranty until the end of October 2024 so that is peace of mind in case of any issues.

Smokey it comes down to 1) I know what I have / what it needs (a few seals on cylinders probably $500. 2) I can add the QA setup for $12-1300. What I cannot get is 4-5 more HP and 300lbs of lift capacity from my B21. Also eventually add the third function valve, a plow, and a grapple...

So the bh qa is a new bucket too it would appear - will need to see the $ tag on that -probably better part of $1k thanks for all the replies too - now will see what it goes for - if it’s a good price I’ll probably get it then sell my b21 - don’t have room for two.

    Basic Solar Installation

This is the roofing co not wanting to guarantee aganst leaks which is understandable if the rack mounts are not installed correctly. However the total cost of the re-roofing and solar installation is allowable for the 30% tax credit - so if you spend 20K installing a new roof and 20K for solar...

    Basic Solar Installation

Look at off grid systems - you will need about a 5-7 KW solar array and 14-20 KW backup battery system - probably better part of $35K unless you install yourself. You need to factor in the winter a 6-7KW array will generate 300KWH per month Dec/January in Michigan. Best case a grid tie array...

Using cable or chain instead of blades on a riding mower

Your fortunate only 3 buckets on 5 acres - here they push up a new crop every winter so either fill and level soil around them or dig them out. What's that you are dragging - looks like a FEL bucket or is it a grading device with slots to catch rocks?

1 tractor rest of forever -- what brand?

To the OP why not keep the Mahindra and buy a smaller tractor for the wood lot work 25 HP with minimal electronics like the Kybota 2501 or get a lightly used 2012-13 pre emissions tractor, Having two is tter than one!

Using cable or chain instead of blades on a riding mower

Don't use cable as bcp said, and with chain you will need a smaller 1/8" or maybe 3/16. Chain uses velocity to shred stuff vs cutting so takes more power to do the work, I'd stick with old blades and maybe try to raise the deck higher to clear rocks?

Bh77 vs mini excavator / excavator size

Yes - LD1 posted some very good and valid info on the mini ex size and capabiltiy vs a tractor BH. Really depends on your ground and what you are doing between the U17 to the TB216 - Both will work well and out dig the tractor BH. If you are doing this as a business get the bigger machine...

    BH92 mechanical thumb

There are a number of threads on TBN on this topic, and as far as dealer cost buy it from the whole goods from Kubota - should be around $700 for the mechanical and you can add hydraulic...

Priced a backhoe at the dealer yesterday...

Thats $7200 USD installed which is typically what they are here - also make sure if includes the subframe, For the same or less money you can get a mini excavator 1-1.2 ton - gas, or for $3K more a 2 ton with a kubota or yanmar diesel. You will get more done and better utility with a mini...

How many acres do you own?

Had 6.5 acres 4 now, as we sold 2.5 acres 2 years ago to good friends to build a house. This was part of our retirement plan and wanted to pick our neighbors. It has worked out well.

    My Industrial Cabin Build

Agreed - grandfather from 1900-1955 had 200 acres of woodlands and 100 tillable and did cord wood for the paper mills in the winter, and milked 30 Jerseys, bottled and delivered milk and eggs to 250-300 houses year-round. The side business was the wood business. My father took over the milk...

Moving 2,000-pound feed tote on a pallet with Massey 1759

You should be OK if you have pallet forks on the SSQA its 2400LBs at the bucket pins. TractorData.com Massey Ferguson 1759 tractor attachments information So it's close depending on the tote and pallet weight. Also have a good ballast on the rear!

Pull 3” saplings or Bush Hog them?

Agree on the mulching approach - however from the pictures it looks like you could do a lot of the areas of brambles and smaller stuff with the BH leaving the trees and shrubs for the mulcher. Of course if you don't know what's out there (bigger stumps or rocks lurking in the underbrush)...

    A timber frame cabin memoir

Yes the devll's in the details - my neighbor/friend is a builder did a 1.2M build last year and the architect did the same thing in BR and kitchen so this seems to happen a lot! Just frame it up and you will be fine - and I agree, a good window is worth the $ - Pella/Anderson etc. but dont...

Doc - that's a great deal on 2 Ton, Kubota diesel, Hyd cooler, dual pumps, pilot controls and thumb! Last week at auction, the Machpro 15 or 16 as it was listed with cab (2400LB machine) with Kubota engine went for $7300 plus fees, or $8300 OTD. Essentially its the same as the B&S version with...

Doc70 just curious what the offer was from Kamran - as I contacted them a while back and couldn't get them to reply. If they are selling for under $11K for the 4000LB unit with thumb delivered that would be a good deal.

Kamran and Typhon Terror XVII are the same machine- showing at 11,600 for the Typhon - I think machinery asia is the same as exavatorusa and are connected to Typhon it seems. Kamran seems more of an importer of automotive stuff. Yes the auction machines are going pretty cheap - but fees 10-15%...

Agreed on replacing the back windows with standard units. Also, with Anderson, I found the big box stores will beat the lumber yards by a large margin especially if you get into the 400 series. Also have them quote the whole house exterior doors and windows for a better deal. Anderson are...

    Debaiting on trading in

Yes - with enough time and effort a shovel or a 1 ton mini ex can do that :-) If you have the space maybe get a full sized TLB for 15K (JD 310, Case 580 etc.)

Level the dirt, put down some 2x4 PT sleepers with a piece of 4x8 plywood on the top and a few dollies from HD or lowes would work. Or build a dedicated platform to drop the BH and if alignment is an issue add a backup camera - they have gotten pretty inexpensive now.

Need a front wheel seal on Cub Cadet

Probably not a lot of demand for the part, you might want to buy two if he has both - maybe offer $150-200 for one and $300 for two? Shipping is going to be $$ and need a sturdy wood box or small pallet.

    Debaiting on trading in

I did the similar process shown in the video two or three times - then I built a rolling dolly the BH sits on at the height above lower cradle. Yes, typically the diesel 2 ton (3500LB) units have hyd filter and oil cooler, with pilot controls (vs mechanical). There aren't many here that have the 2 ton units, but Fredrik ordered one direct from China (for delivery early this year - but he hasn't posted results yet.
