Pull off the air filter housing and piping to the turbo...wiggle the compressor wheel. If there is any play...it's gone. You should also be able to spin it with out feeling any crunchiness. I have no idea if this turbo is just oil cooled or both oil and coolant. But a lack of both screams...

More internal bearing surface with the V. Don't need a long stroke to get the same power. Can use more of the RPM band. Cooling doesn't have the cavitation issues with a long block. V motors are best served by a turbo supplying each bank, therefore they can be smaller and spin faster allowing...
