The Kubota B2601 does not have a Ujoint on the driveshaft. They just carefully align the engine and HST shafts and put collars over the shaft in between. Several other Kubotas are done this way.

Put these on the Ryobi ZT480e. LOTS better traction than stock turfs. However, they can really gough if you're not careful, particularly going downhill and turning. Much much safer to use than the turfs.

There is one or two electric tractors. Ear muffs are probably cheaper. A tractor with an Isuzu engine would be the quietist diesel. Our Isuzu diesel generator driver is a real gem. You'd never know it was a diesel: no clatter; no smoke.

Grease is grease. Water works fine, too, as a "grease". Only trouble is it evaporates. Same way with wax. Works great as a lube oil, but it freezes up even at ambient temperatures. Doubt you need any kind of fancy grease. Just grease every 50 hours.

The Mobil 1 0wxx oil did not smoke though. It was definitely smoke from the overhead valves stuff not being lubricated.

When I had a 4.4 kw portable, it sat out in the open. The fuel tank pretty much covers everything. Now have a 12.5 kw diesel generator for nearly 10 years. It has its own enclosure with 3 doors.

I'd try some Seafoam in the fuel. Saved me some carburetor removals on a number of gasoline engines when I had some (all battery now). Just started putting in it the Isuzu's 60 gallon underbelly tank and use it for the tractor, too.

The Ryobi 14 inch 40v irked me yesterday because it kept shutting down on heavy cutting. Wife's Stihl MSA-120 does not do this.

I agree with DaBear. Depends on what you want to do. My neighbor with 5 acres has a humongous JD 4052. Me, with 8.5 acres and trails across 2 other neighbors, can do with 18.5 hp 2 or B series tractor. If you just mow trails and do a bit of other stuff, you could rent/hire a bigger tractor...

The B2601 remains stingy on fuel. Up to 12 gallons now at 32.7 full up to fill tube: 0.014 gph/engine hp. This is vs. 0.025 gph/engine hp for 3 Yanmar JDs.

Got R14Ts on the new B2601. They do have more side bite and maybe a tad better to/fro. No problems so far at just over 30 hours. Don't think they're responsible for the B's 0.014 gph/engine hp fuel use vs. the 3 JDs' 0.025.

May lack some weight. You're traction limited with a BB, not hp limited. My B2601 near same weight works with a 5 ft Woods BB at 518 #. Actually, the 4100 is about 140 # less weight than a B2601.

I've used Seafoam in carbed engines and have avoided taking the carb apart many many times. It works. No longer have any gas engines other than on the cars and pickup now though. Gone battery power.

With synthetic, you can go 400 hours. With a dino oil, you better change every 100 hours. Others: in between. A tractor's engine's life is not particularly severe service. It just makes more noise because there is no sound deadening between you and the engine like on a car, SUV or truck.

No. Last 2 car engines got their regular oil changes at 10k miles. That's what was in their manuals. Do not think tractor engines should be any different. Should be able to go 400 hours like all changes.

Extremely conservative. Any cars or trucks you buy today, you just drive them normally and change at the normal interval. On the last 2 new cars I've bought, that interval has been 10k miles. Don't see why tractors are any different in the engines.

The jam nuts on both the top link and this adjustable link have to be tight to keep them from rotating loose.

Most also recommend 10w30, which means 0w30 would be the absolute best. The 15w40 is absolute goo in cold weather. Your overhead valve gear probably is smoking by the time oil ever hits it.
