I think for a lot of people on this forum a 100 hours a year is more normal. 500 a year is enough I wouldn’t worry about it. Any modern name brand fluid is going to be decent but the synthetic ones are better.

The specs on Stihl’s website always used to say 50cc, that doesn’t appear to be the case now. Stihl says a 261 will pull a 20” bar. I have an 18 on mine and I think a 20 would be fine.

I’m not sure what’s up with the specs on a Stihl 261. I’m pretty sure it’s a 50cc saw but I’ve seen 3 different numbers for its size, 38cc, 45cc and 50cc.

What are the odds? Figure the tree has to hit near the center of the tree. Figure the width between posts. Divide the two and that will give you the odds. Just a rough figure 50-50. :unsure:

Yes the B sized is closer in size to a JD1025r. The tires are still small on a 1025r. A 1025r is kind of in between a Kubota BX and a small B.

I’ll add I owned a BX2350 for 10 years, great tractor. The biggest difference that makes a difference between the JD and the Kubota is end loader bucket size. The JD isn’t twice as big but the heaped load is going on twice as much. That might or might not be important to you.

Park the two side by side and you’ll see the difference. The JD is about half a size bigger. Does that make it worth more? That’s up to you to decide. Tractor Time with Tim did a nice set of videos comparing the two.

I’ll also say the better, more lush your yard is the more difference you will see in the cut quality. If you keep your blades sharp on a mid mount it will cut pretty decent.

John Deere has the auto connect setup like already mentioned. Once setup correctly it’s pretty quick. I put my 60 mid mount on about a week ago. I had trouble getting line up on it, you drive over it to hook up. I was to far to the right driving up on it, I still got it hooked up in 5 minutes.

I agree, change the fuel filters, that’s it 9 out of 10 times. Next would be to check that the fuel pump is running. It often makes a clicking sound if you turn the key on but don’t start it.

Yeah the “R” models in JD’s lineup are considered deluxe but also have stronger loaders as a rule.

I got 5 years 0% with JD and they let me insure it through State Farm. JD’s cost for the insurance was pretty close in cost though. It’s been paid off for a while but I’ve left insurance on it, it’s worth nearly what I paid for it, close to $20k, I hate to not insure it.

I think if you do research, you’ll find the amount of sodium it adds is minimal. The amount depends on the hardness but an example is a gallon of softened water has the same amount as half a cup of tomato juice.

When we bought our house it had some junk on it. It didn’t seem like much but after about the fifth truckload I hauled off I decided I should have made them clean it up.

I got them from Amazon. Just search for fuel can spouts. As I recall the entire box of them was about $12.

My Yardmax splitter, a 25 ton I think, gets pretty hot when I split for a while. The fluid gets pretty hot in the tank and at the cylinder.

John Deere had their “special” hydraulic fluid, either Hy-Gard or low viscosity Hy-Gard. There’s all sorts of fluids that say they meet Kubotas and JD’s specs but I’ve always just spent the extra money and bought the real thing.

I was thinking some kind of falcon. It doesn’t look like the hawks we see around here, which would be Redtails or similar.

I run RV antifreeze into mine. Water can stay behind in it and freeze and ruin the pump.

It looks good to me. Keep in mind there is a moisture content of the soil that gives the best compaction. My guess would be that’s to wet but hard to say.

I’d guess it up the boost at lower rpm’s and bumps up the fuel. I seriously doubt it will use less fuel for you, or at least not enough difference you would notice. It might also alter injection timing.

I think mine calls for 200 hour changes but it’s a hydrostat. Mine also looked really clean on the dipstick but when I drained it there was some wear particles in it and the fluid looked like it needed changed.

My father in law had one implanted about a year ago. It’s helped a lot, he had a low heartbeat, it got as low as 40. His also somehow can be downloaded and they can look at the data.

I have a Yardmax exactly like @kenmbz shows above. One thing I like is the beam is open where the wedge runs. This lets any chips and junks of bark clean off easy. Some I see have rails that the wedge runs on that look like they wouldn’t that crap to fall. I’m not sure if that’s an issue or not.

I can’t answer your question on that model but unless there was an improvement it shouldn’t matter. You might want to take any weathering or wear into account due to age. Wear on the bucket edge? The first time it digs into a pike of gravel that happens. Check the hours to see how many.

I’m going to jump on board and say your fuel mileage shoukd be way down the list of things to worry about. I’d worry more about the condition of the truck body, engine, transmission, dump body and hydraulics. If you put a lot of miles on it I’d try and find a diesel.

On my JD I just had to loosen a lock nut to turn up the pressure. I had to take a couple of things off the tractor but it was a simple to do.

It’s actually an old dog kennel. It had a small little house on it, maybe 50 sq. ft. and the rest were just runs. It probably hasn’t been used as a kennel for 40 years. The ground hogs have undermined parts of it making it partly collapse. I got this one yesterday.

We got less than 24” of snow for the entire winter would be my estimate.

It seems like all three of the tractors are similar looking at the specs. The Branson is much newer but they have a lesser reputation than Kubota and JD. I’d still take the newer tractor though.

I wanted an F150 for the aluminum body, my previous two trucks, a Dodge and a Chevy, started rusting. I wanted 4x4, payload near 2000 pounds, a locker in the rear, 36 gallon tank, supercab, XLT, and tow package. I found pretty much what I wanted I just had to add a factory brake controller.

Normally I am quick at adding air and checking the pressure. This time because the gauge didn’t work I had to let air out.

I had a tire gauge designed for filled tires, it didn’t last long. I blow air in with the stem at 12 o’clock and still end up with a mess.

There was someone that lived a few miles west of Good Hope Illinois that had a setup roughly 1/8 scale train setup in a simple oval loop. It was maybe an eighth to a quarter mile of track total. I don’t think it’s still there but have not looked for it lately.

A load tester is 30 bucks and you don’t have to take the battery out. It’s crazy to replace a starter, battery cables etc when it is the battery the entire time. This is even more true since the battery was dead not long ago.

I’m using the correct file, here is a picture of a new chain on the tag on the files I bought. A couple of pictures of teeth. I compared to my new chain. I feel the first picture I’m close on the sharpening, the second one the tooth seems straight up and down with no curve.

I split some more wood today. I have a ballast box on the back of my tractor that has a receiver in it but I can’t see to get close to my splitter. I use a hitch setup on my forks to move it. I don’t even latch the ball, I only move it about a 100 feet from where I store it to where I split.

I’m pretty sure I’m using the correct file size. I can check though. I’ve got a brand new chain I can look at. I get decent results after I sharpen but I suspect I’m not doing it a 100% correct, I can do better. A picture of what I use to sharpen with.

I see what you mean about the gullets, I’m letting the file ride to low. I can actually see things better in the photo than I can with my eyes. I actually think if I took the saw out with the chain like it shows in the pictures it would cut well but that doesn’t make it right either.

I’m going to agree, I’d cut that out a repour it. The feathered edge will just fall apart. I see a crack in it also.

I’ll get one. I appreciate everyone’s answers. Self criticism can be tough. My initial reaction I’m sharpening the chain correctly but I wouldn’t be posting here if that was 100% true.

It’s not just the width but the diameter. I have a cheap plastic one and it’s a little too small. Kind of guessing as I looked at a few on line but mine is probably 36” wide by a diameter of 18”. You probably want a bigger one.

I see that on my tractor, on mine it’s not clogged and after I use it a while grease comes out the other side eventually.

I’m confused, what’s the problem. Coolant goes into the overflow tank but won’t go back in the radiator later? Have you checked the radiator after this happens and it’s low?
