Just remember that you have to deal with that ballast when in an unloaded position. Such as going up a steep hill. Tire fill doesn't create that situation. There's a right place/wrong place for both. I use both.

Here's a more modern version that works great to tighten and shorten fence wire.

Oh I totally understand in your case moving the jack forward. My trailer has the jack against the bulkhead with the handle extended to the side of the trailer. Very handy for me. But I can't set anything on the bulkhead letting it hang forward such as the FEL bucket. I use the stake pockets...

Not a great picture but here's a HEMTT pulling a trailer. You aren't backing that trailer without a turntable lock. I've saw them used extensively. Lock assembly can be activated when in a turn. As the trailer straightens the lock engages. Same for releasing. Activate the release mechanism...

That's the intent. Lock the turntable for easy backing. Our military has many varieties of these and they work well.

If it had "bent" and stayed intact you would see upward bend in the middle. In this case, it broke completely apart. Gravity took over and it fell to the ground in the middle.

Here at TBN, a World fat with SCUTs, CUTs and Utility tractors, most with FELs, front axle/bearing failure is very rare. Definitely more rare than bent/broken FELs. Probably more rare than broken tractor chassis.

I think it's a reflection of exactly how much we consume. Was no way to measure it when supply was fat. Now that things become less available we begin to see the true depth of our consumption as a nation.

I would add an FEL mounted tree/post puller as the second attachment that's hard of a tractor and FEL. There are situations where you can apply an extreme amount of leverage on the FEL and tractor. I built my puller several years ago and have used it a LOT.

A center pivot loader will make your and my LTBs look silly using them for a loader. An Excavator will make your and my LTBs look silly using them for a hoe.

Many years ago I had a Ford Ranger PU with a 5 spd. Used an engine heater to get it cranked. In -20F temps after cranking with the clutch depressed you'd have to slip the clutch a little when releasing it or it would kill engine in neutral. :)
