The final rate we pay varies tremendously. Haven't you heard us whine about that down here? ;) In the situation I described 17% was withheld from my withdrawal. Fortunately I was able to recoup most of it thru deductions. But not all of it. So I paid a price to be mortgage free. It was...

I did just that to the tune of $50K. It was taxed at 17%. I got most of it back thru deductions. But it still left a mark. But I'm living in a new house and sitting in a new shop right now with no mortgage. It was worth it to me. I'm 70 and debt free. I will stay that way. :)

Well stated. I burned wood for 25 years because I enjoyed doing it. As the years went by it became more of a chore. 3 years ago I quit relying on wood. I don't miss "needing" to cut wood. Now I cut wood when I "want" to. A wise elderly gentleman told me years ago, "It doesn't matter what...

Pushing A Tractor To It's Limits

It's not a bucket. It's a blade. He set it a few inches off the ground. Just low enough to scatter the loose debris ahead of him. Definitely had a purpose in mind. As another poster stated, he accomplished the job his boss said to do. He did it with the equipment at hand. A talent that we...

Pushing A Tractor To It's Limits

Toward the end of the video, when he's going away from the camera you can see the slope is clean, hard shaved ground. Cut to a specified degree slope. Then loose material was pushed off the top and down the slope. He's scattering that material to the lower part of the slope. He couldn't have...

Pushing A Tractor To It's Limits

Yep. I've had the Road Grader on slopes so steep if I try to pick up the moldboard the high side tires come off the ground. As long as you keep the nose uphill and let the rears "drift" life is good.

Pushing A Tractor To It's Limits

I agree Roy. The slope was solid with plenty of "marbles" under the rear tires for them to scoot on. As long as he kept the left rear tire below himself he couldn't roll. Would slide down the bank first. I wish we had the operator in this discussion. He would get a kick out of the...

Tractor News What is driving up the demand for tractors?

I think that dilemma would be location specific. Here there's no discussion of not planting. Grain farmers had a very good 2021. That gave them financial leverage to purchase most of their fertilizer and chemicals for 2022 last month. No doubt the increased cost of production will squeeze...

    Pup trailers

Not a great picture but here's a HEMTT pulling a trailer. You aren't backing that trailer without a turntable lock. I've saw them used extensively. Lock assembly can be activated when in a turn. As the trailer straightens the lock engages. Same for releasing. Activate the release mechanism...

That's the intent. Lock the turntable for easy backing. Our military has many varieties of these and they work well.

    Kioti Broken in Half

If it had "bent" and stayed intact you would see upward bend in the middle. In this case, it broke completely apart. Gravity took over and it fell to the ground in the middle.

    Kioti Broken in Half

Here at TBN, a World fat with SCUTs, CUTs and Utility tractors, most with FELs, front axle/bearing failure is very rare. Definitely more rare than bent/broken FELs. Probably more rare than broken tractor chassis.

Tractor News What is driving up the demand for tractors?

I think it's a reflection of exactly how much we consume. Was no way to measure it when supply was fat. Now that things become less available we begin to see the true depth of our consumption as a nation.

    Kioti Broken in Half

I would add an FEL mounted tree/post puller as the second attachment that's hard of a tractor and FEL. There are situations where you can apply an extreme amount of leverage on the FEL and tractor. I built my puller several years ago and have used it a LOT.

James, there will most definitely be those who will condemn his actions. But those in the know don't pay much attention to those. I use the snot out of my Grapple and have had my back tires both off the ground many, many times. But I try to be smooth about it. I too would like to hear the...

That's the big advantage of a TLB over an Excavator. On small, frequent jobs, scattered over a town/small city, the TLB reigns supreme. Couple weeks ago I drove my TLB 2 miles to the local cemetary and put in a new entrance culvert. Took 30 minutes of hoe work. Would have taken longer to...

Does the tractor have rear remotes and if so how many? Are you using any rear remotes for other functions now? If so an electric/hydraulic diverter valve would allow two functions from one remote. I can't answer regarding the backhoe question. Need to confirm what tractor we are talking about?

Many years ago I had a Ford Ranger PU with a 5 spd. Used an engine heater to get it cranked. In -20F temps after cranking with the clutch depressed you'd have to slip the clutch a little when releasing it or it would kill engine in neutral. :)
