And a lot of faith in people posting on websites such as this. The info on the owner of the property is a matter of public record.
The property owner
*“has a history of multi-million-dollar philanthropy, a long track record of conservative political donations, a complex inventory of land...
The owner is NOT a liberal by any means. He has donated lots of $$s to conservative causes. Easy to find his name by googling key words associated with this thread.
I don’t know his stand on hunting.
Can you provide a better picture of the entire tag (shown on your first pic)? That is the “tag next to your steering wheel“ that has the info you are looking for.
You may need to do a pencil lead eching on a sheet of paper to be able to read all the info.
Or it could an issue with older operator manuals. The current operator manual states,
“To prevent generator damage, do not load generator with an electric motor that exceeds the maximum capacity for the generator. See information below for maximum motor size.
TX7 - 0.75 hp (0.56 kw)
TX12 -...
This thread is about PTO generators. PTO generators have input shaft gearing to get there required rpms from the PTOs 540 RPM regardless of being gas or diesel.
Motors are inductive reactance load. The current flow is not in sync with the voltage. This results in greater current flow than is expected by simply converting hp to Watts or Volt Amperes.
Typical clamp on current meters are just not capable of accurately measuring inrush current. The peak inrush is usually over before the meters start to detect it.
Your measured running load is 22 Amps. Inrush is typically around 6 times that. 132 Amps amps at 240 V is far greater than the...
Electric motors nameplates generally will show starting kVA (NEMA codes), some as high as nine times the running kVA. Use the starting kVA when determinig the correct electrical load requirements. If there isn’t enough power to start there isn’t enough to run.
It is hard to believe that water vapor coming from a cooling tower does not freeze during cold weather resulting in frozen precipitation be it either snow or sleet.
However it is unlikely that such contribution to frozen precipitation is significant or evn measurable with respect to the water...
The same logic could also be applied to all the OEMs hourly service recommendations for fluids. Test it and change it based on the test results. Would recommend changing the filter(s) though.
Of course now one has to consider how often does one test it vs following the manufacturers...
Finding small leaks is just not that difficult. Plugging is certainly quick and cheap but is more prone to leakage than an internal patch. Both plugging and patching are cheaper than tubing. Biggest problem with tubes are the relatively rapid deflation when punctured.
It would not be that hard to add wooden sections between the rafters and spacing them to give the height you are seeking. Then mount the fixtures to the spacers parralel to the rafters.
I would be curious as to the location of the “pinhole” leak.
Was it leaking at the plug?
I have seen a lot of tire plugs that leak. In most cases, a tire repaired with a plug cold have been better serviced with a patch inside the tire. Plugs often leak. Patches seldom do.
The nuke plant can generate 24hrs/day, 365.25days/year. The solar plant just can’t do that.
In my opinion, the biggest downside to both solar and wind generation is that there has to be real power plant that has to supply the power when the solar and wind plants can’t.
I’ve never used anything but local supplied fresh water from my garden hose for any engine I’ve owned. Never seen an auto dealer, auto service center, or tractor dealer use distilled water either as coolant.
An internet search indicates using distilled water as coolant is either good, bad, or...
Thanks! So this percentage that is left this is not that unusual in your experience?
I would expect some coollant to remain in the engine, but have never run into this high a percentage left.
I am doing the 400 hr service on my Kubota. While doing this, I decided to also drain and refill the coolant.
Per the owners manual the coolant capacity is 6.3 US qts. I drained the coolant using the radiator drain plug (with the radiator cap removed). This is what the service manual says to...
It’s so disappointing when one refers to their local dealer in a negative manner but their profile does not include their location. Talking bad about a dealer by name is not allowed but sharing your localion is allowed.
Figured it out and already ordered the part.
It was the transmission to cooler line. Found a used one at Wengers. Shipping was more that the part, likely due to size and shape. The part depicted in the pics was a after market flexible hose. The OEM part is formed metal tubing.
Local MF dealer...
Tow capability for a vehicle depend on much more than the tow vehicles make, model and engine. In most cases it is limited by the weight on the tongue and rear axle.
With a 10.1 k trailer on a frame hitch you would be seeing at least 1,010 lbs and up to 1,515 lbs on that hitch. With a 5th...
Being able to do it is not the same as being practical to do. There is a big difference between theoretical or experimental capabilty and being commercially viable.
In the 1960s electricity from nuclear generation was going to be “to cheap to meter.”
It’s pretty simple to separate fuel and water. Run the fuel thru an inline water fuel separator. You may have to drain the water from the separator several times. The size of the opening for the cap on the tank is relatively small compared to the tanks size.
I have had 3 tractors and one backhoe. Two of the tractors and the backhoe are large machines and are 2wd, the smaller tractor is 4wd. None are ever driven on a hard surface except when being parked under cover or changing an attachment.
I seldom have had to engage the lockers on any of the...
I am curious why most tractor dealers are unwilling to provide online pricing for their in stock inventory. They all require calling the store to even get ballpark pricing.
Car dealers, appliance store, furniture stores, RV dealers, and pretty much every other dealer type of dealer provide...
Every tractor I have ever driven, when in its lowest gear range and lowest axle range, will spin its tires and NEVER stall out.
Yes, you can make them stall, but only by either intentionally doing so or ignorantly doing so.
One could also say that torque is just a mathematical derivative of horsepower. Horsepower and torque are indeed directly related to each other and the engines speed.
5,252 rpm is the number of revolutions required to make the hp and torque equal numerical values (i.e., X hp and also X ft...
In my opinion, it seems the answer is obvious based on this thread. Most people do not understand torque and its relationship to hp and engine rpm. They are likely comfortable, even if not knowledgable, with hp.
This is likely also true for the marketing folks at the various manufacturers...
Thats the difference between the performance of diesels and gas engines. Diesels when loaded drop in rpm but the available torque increases with that drop in rpm. Gas engines just drop in rpm and also drop the available torque.
I assume your JD Riding mower is gas powered and your Yanmar tractor is diesel powered. Their operating characteristics are significantly different.
Look at the typical torque/hp vs speed curve for both gas and diesel engines. Diesel engines typically develop peak torque at low rpm that is...
Sorry you don’t get it.
Properly geared the 110 hp engine could move the Case just fine, but likely not very fast. Torque can be mutipled via gearing. HP cannot be multiplied by gear ratios.
Call them what you want, but they do popup out of nowhere. When they do, they compress the dialog in the thread and often cause the app to lock up or shutdown completely.
My nearest Kubota dealer’s yard is overflowing. But it’s over an hours drive from me.
What I find really strange is that their webpage shows they have almost no inventory. The same two used mechines have been showing as their entire inventory for months now.
They must be relying on mostly...
Could you be more specific?
It’s NOT clear what this link is pointing to that is under $200 and is what the OP is looking for.
The axle shown at Friday Parts for $209, is not the right part no. for the OP’s machine.
Large nuclear plants are not cheap to build or operate and their is no long term solution to high level radwaste storage. In the U.S., spent nuclear fuel is typically stored on site. France and some other countries reprocess their spent fuel, which has its own risks and costs, but it doesn’t...
The bill stipulates “. . . with fair and reasonable terms and costs . . .” The costs will likely be similar to what their dealers pay, which isn’t cheep.
Sensors that monitor tire pressure and provide a display and alarm to the driver have been available for years now. Required on passenger vehicles and light trucks since 2007. Not sure why larger vehicles were not required.
I never said they have ALL the large military installations. But they do have a 3 of the top 5 (Fort Bragg, Fort Hood, and Fort Benning). They have 4 of the top 5 if one considers Fort Campbell in Kentucky being a southern state.
Per an article if Forbes Magazine dated 2/19/2020;
“Culture and tradition play a role in the decision to join the military, but so too does familiarity with uniformed service. As military service becomes rarer with the passing of the Greatest Generation of WWII veterans, as well as the millions...
CA tops the list for the no. personnel on it’s bases. CO is not in the top 10 but is close. AZ and NM are farther down the list.
Those living in the south do not regard CA, AZ, NM or CO as southern states regardless of their latitude.
The map shows miltary base locations but does not take into account the population at those bases. Seven of the top ten states based on per capita recruitment rates are southern states. Four out of five of the largest military bases are also located in southern states.
It has a lot to do with the location of military bases. Children of those in the military are more likely to join the military.
Some will be less likely due to join the recent renaming of numerous military bases.
Torque to the wheels is what matters, not the torque provided by the engine. Torque provided by the engine can be, and is, multipled or divided by the transmission and rear end gear ratios. The HP provide by the engine cannot be increased.
Torque determines what you can do. HP determines how...
Thanks for the info.
I originally thought you were indicating 73% of ALL electric generation avaIlable in the USA was owned by the government. It was not clear you were talking about only hydroelectric.
Just read on Yahoo that Apple is clamping down on the apps available on its App Store, potentially cutting off disruptive technology in the process.
Not sure if this is related to why the TBN app is no longer available on the Apple devises.
We had a terrible problem with calls to our home landline. Our landline provider offered little help. We converted the landline to a cellular line using the same number at less than half the cost of the landline.
Our cellular provider has a great call filter for the converted landline. It can...
You could also try cleaning the gas flow paths with compressed air. We’ve had similar problems with our propane gas logs. Pilot light did exact same thing. Would stay lit only when the button was pressed. Solution has always been cleaning the propane flow path. Apparently, the flow path to the...
I would hate to have to transport my tractor 300 miles very often no matter what the mode of transportation.
I recognize that in Texas (and other large western states) that driving 100 miles one way just to go out to diner is not that rare.
Don’t you mean one appliance per flue? Multiple flues in a chimney are common place. I have one chimney with three flues serving two fireplaces and one wood stove.
Thread the cables thru some metal piping. It will “stiffen” the connections and prevent the cables from becoming entangled with the wheels.
Alternatively, purchase a couple of angle irons and use them the connect to the railroad iron.
Not really, unless you don’t count the cost of the trailer. Unless there is a need for frequent transportation, owning a trailer just for that purpose is not very cost effective. Tractors of this size are easily transported on a rollback tow truck for far less than the cost of a trailer and tow...
I have never seen any implements at dealers that are not sitting outside in the weather unless they are being worked on or attached to tractors that are being worked on.
I am not an attorney, but am pretty sure one cannot get a power of attorney if the grantor is not mentally competent. Guardianship and Conservatorship would likely be required and are more difficult and expensive to get.
The info on Tractor data IS consistent with the lift capacity stated in the operators manuals for both the B2650 and the L3901.
FYI, my L3240 is rated for 2650 lbs at 24 inches.
Unlike Onstar and GPS mapping, most of these features don’t require internet access. Likely, someone will sell the capability for a plug in hardware bypass in lieu of the need for a subscription.
No problem with my Kubota HST. Clutch on left, brakes on right. HST also on right just like the accelerator pedal. Haven’t driven a manual trans on a truck or car for many years, but my first 3 cars had a manuals trans back in the 60s.
A metallurgical analysis of the material in the OPs pic of the rail could determine what it actually is (rust, debris, and/or bugs) vs what it looks like.
In 1985 I was stopped in Wyoming having been clocked doing 83 MPH. It was about 6:30 in the morning on a straight and level interstate highway and there was no other traffic on the road.
The fine was $5. It never showed up at my home states highway dept.
Not sure it’s related but diesel powered pickup trucks in the US equiped with the Bosch CP4 high pressure fuel pump have seen a lot of failures. Failure of the pump send pieces downstream sometimes resulting in $10k or more for repairs.
Failure of the pump has been attributed to lower...
Pulling the trailer should not be a problem if you are not in a hurry.
Braking might be though. Be sure to be in 4 wd. I would also install a trailer brake controller on the tractor. Always nice to have the towed vehicle assist with braking.
The Deere MSL option can still be used for normal loader work. The hydraulic cylinders can still curl the bucket. Unless manually curling the bucket, the option keeps the bucket in it’s same relative position when being raised or lowered.
Since I don’t do a lot of pallet work I have no use for...
My locale ACE hardware store will replace ratchets without question. The replacement may not be identical since tool design or construction may have changed.
Ratchets are NOT excluded. The Craftsman Link clearly states

Finishing Tools
Hex Key
Knives & Multi-tools

There are many opinions and recommendations regarding dealing with aluminum wiring most of them conflict with each other. I am aware of no where that recommends annual maintenance.
Civil Asset Forfeiture applies to much more than just cash (e.g., cars, truck, boats, homes, land, buildings, etc.). If you worry about it, then you should also worry about losing more than just cash.
Conversely, a 1000 cfm supplied at 0.01 psig won’t budge that doll car wheel either.
Supplied pressure and volume are not independent of each other. All else being equal, increased flow volume will result from increased pressure and increased pressure results in greater volume.
The air pressure supplied to the impact tool has a significant affect on its cabability. Likely the tire dealers impact tool was operating at greater pressure.
The rules, whatever they are, should be VERY VISIBLE.
There are what appears to be a set of rules that one agrees to to be able to join this forum and another set of rules that are in a post by Mohammid.
Finding all the “rules” is not easy.
I had one like that in the early 90s. Calls outside your cell providers area were about $3 per minute plus a daily connection fee.
Each phone also came with a book that provide access numbers depending on where you were located. For someone to call you they had to know (or be able to guess)...
I have a 5 ft GB1 Tufline blade that I bought about 20 years ago. Use it on our 800 ft gravel driveway. Works fine for that purpose. Pull it behind a 32hp 4 wheel drive Kubota with loaded tires. Have no problem pulling the 5 ft even when it’s loaded up to the max and not angled. I expect I would...
The additional weight of the diesel engine eats up most of the payload gain of the 2500 over ther 1500. If one need the diesel to tow heavy loads, should consider bumping up to the 3500.
6-7K for leaf filter guards is outrageous unless you are talking many-many hundreds of feet of guard. Had slightly over 100 ft installed over 10 years ago for around $1100 and that included replacing the existing gutters with larger capacity gutters.
Squirrels chewed thru the low voltage aluminum neutral line supplying our church creating a floating neutral condition. The floating neutral resulted in damage to several electronic power supplies as well as numerous led light fixtures.
Apparently squirrels like to chew on aluminum. The power...
In general, fuses and circuit breakers are sized to protect the circuit (i.e, the wiring). They are typically not sized to prevent individual component overheating.
Nope. That price from a local dealer is pretty average. They buy it by the truckload. It’s similar to several other mail order tractor supply houses, but the freight on a few gallons via UPS, Fed Ex or other shippers will eat you alive. Messicks has 5 gals for about $113 but the freight to my...
But that only applies to vehicles registered in that state. If it’s not classified as a commercial vehicle in the state where it is registered, it is unlikely to be treated as a commercial vehicle in any state. A state cannot require a commercial DL if the state that issued your license does not.
I have notice a lot of colored flexible conduits being buried along a number of major highways. Most are blue or orange but also some yellow. Some conduits near us were buried over a year ago and as of yet do not appear to be used for anything (ends of empty conduit sticking up out of the...
Thanks for pointing this out. It is somewhat interesting that the “Terms of Service” are not obvious or even easily available from within the IOS App. As of a few moments ago, they are not even available from the website. Attempting to follow your link to the TOS shows up as

You could post the non-responsive dealers name or at least its location. Would warn others not to do business with them.
I just reviewed the TBN forum rules and could find nothing prohibiting posting such info.
“Load levelers” is an imprecise term covering various products including but not limited to WD hitches. WD hitches are a specific set of products that transfer hitch load from the rear axle, rear suspension and rear tires of the tow vehicle. One should not be confused with the other.
Lots of discussion here regarding inches of hitch drop and use of load levelers or air bags. Nothing discussed about using weight distribition hitches. Proper use of weight distribution hitches can significantly increase the towing capability of most 1500 or 150 tow vehicles by reducing the load...
Rick, glad you were able to retire.
If you haven’t seen them yet, try Upper Whitewater Falls, Looking Glass Falls, Dry Falls, and High Falls, all located within about 30 miles of each other in western NC.
It is actually pretty good in determing both trailer weight and tounge weight. It was within 2% on my RVs weight and 1.5% on the tounge weight when checked against Cat Scales measurements. It also does a good job on setting trailer brake controller gain.
Without a doubt it’s not perfect, but...
If your primary need for the is trailer is bringing your tractor in for sevice, I suggest you just pay the dealer for pickup and delivery. It will cost much less than a moderately heavy duty trailer and an appropriate tow vehicle. Alternately, you could have it picked up and delivered back by...
Have you tried letting the old tractor’s battery charge a little when jumpered to the car while also having the car running well above idle? Let the old battery charge for at least 10 minutes this way.
Getting a little charge into an old battery is almost always necessary when jump starting one...
What are these new methods that you are referring to. I worked in the nuclear power industry for over 40 years. I find this just as believable as “to cheap to meter.”
I doubt it. I KNOW of only one that doesn’t, my 2007 Kubota. But I doubt that it is unique. I am talking about the ones with a drain port or plug for removing accumulated water. It is usually part of the filter cannister. Pretty much all verticle mounted filters can separate water in the...
Not sure if it’s the same, but older Massey Fergusons with lots of transmission wear can get stuck one gear but can be easily unstuck.
Google “My Massey Ferguson Tractor Is Stuck in Gear” to see that solution.
Read the text originally quoted in the earlier post. It wasn’t the manufacturer setting the price. It was the dealers colluding between themselves to not undercut each other.
So you’re claiming this is incorrect. I guess the Federal Trade Commission must have missed that SCOTUS ruling.
If your claim is based on the 2007 Opinion in LEEGIN CREATIVE LEATHER PRODUCTS, INC., PETITIONER v. PSKS, INC., DBA KAYíS KLOSET, that ruling did not negate the Sherman Antitrust...
It’s called price fixing and it violates federal antitrust law. Price fixing is an agreement (written, verbal, or inferred from conduct) among competitors that raises, lowers, or stabilizes prices or competitive terms. Illegal price fixing occurs whenever two or more competitors agree to take...
Just to further cloud the issue . .
The Magnuson-Moss Act is only applicable to “consumer products.” The act states “The term “consumer product” means any tangible personal property which is distributed in commerce and which is normally used for personal, family, or household purposes...
At one time a lot of diesel tractors came equiped with fuel water separators. Doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. Anybody know why this is? Has fuel quality improved that much?
Is anyone familiar with a 10 Ft Howse Single Spindle Rotary Cutter? Any info would be appreciated.
i have an opportunity to buy a used 10 ft House Rotary Cutter at a good price and in excellent condition. I can’t find any info on it on the Howse Website or find any manuals for it.

In reviewing the parts manual for the MF 265, it appears that a handbrake was either an option or a requirement for tractors sold in Florida (USA). I can’t imagine that MF would have provided a significantly different design for Florida tractors to just accomodate including a handbrake. This...
If linkage from pedal to the rear axle case is intact, then problem exists within the axle case. Unless your handy with your hands tools, and relatively heavy components, should consider dealer for repair.
Here is parts diagram.
Per tractordata.com your L35 has the D1703 engine. Specific instructions for aligning the 1TC mark for valve adjustment on your D1703 engine are included on the attached page from my Kubota shop manual.
I’m still a little confused by some hydraulic system terminology.
What is the difference between stack valves and directional control valves?
From what I can figure out, the number of functions which can be controlled by stack valves can be expanded or reduced by adding or removing valves...
Any thoughts on why most older farm tractors had no filter on the hydraulic/transmission fluid system, relying simply on sump screens.
Most newer farm tractors have both separate transmission and hydraulic fluid filters. Not saying anything wrong with the addition of filtration, but the...
I have a MF 265 with one remote but have not used it yet. I have added a ROP need to remove the existing remote valve and outlet quick connects. I plan to replace the single remote with 3 remote valves and associated quick connects.
This pic shows what is the hydraulic connection with shutoff...
I’m confused. Anyone familiar with the MF265 with a 6 Speed Transmission WITHOUT multi-power?
Both the operators manual as well as the service manual seem to indicate transmissions for the 265 are either 8 speed or multi-power 6 speed. I have a 265 that is clearly a 6 speed and is has no...
I just purchased a MF 255 at a really good price because the hydraulics don’t work at all. Neither the PTO, the 3 Pt Hitch, nor the single rear hydraulic remote will function. I bought this for a project.
The owner thought the problem was the hydraulic pump. I have limited knowledge of this...
I’m looking at getting back to the long delayed wet brake repairs.
My back is much better and found someone willing to help with the work.
I bought this macine used and the serial number and production date on my machine have long been obliterated. I believe but am not certain that in was...
I posted on brand specific forum but got no response so I'm trying it here.

Anyome have knowledge or experience rebuilding Tractor Wet Brake Actuators?
There is not much to them but springs, steel balls, and the actuator bodys.
Springs and balls are available...
For production on or after Sept 1, 1987 Ford/New Holland changed the friction material for the wet brakes for their 555B backhoes. It went from a metal based friction material to a paper based material. They also changed the part nos. for the associated actuators.
I am told the old style...
Anyone have any information on the Ford Lifting Fixture Tool No. 6011 (aka, Churchill tool RE 140)? A picture maybe?
The service manual for my backhoe calls for using this for engine removal. The pictures in the manual are not very clear on what it looks like. I can't find any information on...
I inherited this tractor so I have little invested. On the downside, I don't know much about its history. I do know the engine was replaced with a rebuilt engine within the last 200 hours. It runs well and seems pretty strong. The hour meter on the dash does work and has less than 4,000...
I need to replace the wet brakes on my 555b backhoe. I"ve been planning to do this when the weather turned cooler. I continued to use the backhoe over the summer without brakes to complete several jobs on some flat pieces of my property. During this use, I noticed a pretty good transmission...
Anyome have experience rebuilding Ford Wet Brake Actuators?
Not much to them but springs, steel balls, and the actuator discs themselve. Springs and balls are available and reasonable priced. The discs not so much.
Complete actuators for axles prior to 9/1/1986 are available reasonable...
