    Chipper Advice on PTO Chipper

A few years ago, my father in law got several loads of chips from a commercial tree trimming company. He spread them around a half acre of pine seedlings. Within a year, the area was covered with vines and unwanted weeds, including poison ivy. In addition, a few of the seedlings contracted a...

Since you currently have Verizon cellphones, a good place to start would be their wireless / LTE home internet. It's around $50/mo for existing customers. It isn't 5G but it gets you 45 mbps down and 8 up. We just got it and it's fast enough to stream 4K video. Just because there is a tower...

    Regret a cab tractor?

Agreed. Up until a couple of years ago, due to finances, all the tractors I've owned were open station. In 2019, I managed to come up with the money to buy a second tractor and got a cabbed model. No regrets at all. I still need the open station for doing woods work though and a single...

    Family vehicle tracker recommendations

    Rural porch pirates: ideas?

I live at the end of a 1 1/4 mile private road which I maintain. I agree that deliveries do cause wear and tear on the road surface. Package delivery however, is just one of many when you consider, mail, newspaper, fuel oil, propane, garbage etc. Package delivery wouldn't make that much...

Baby, It's Cold Outside, But Let's Talk A/C

I just installed a Daikin 15K ductless heat pump in my garage / workshop. It has a full featured remote control and timer. I hung the outside unit on brackets mounted to the block wall. I punched a 3" hole through the block with a hammer & chisel and mounted the indoor unit on the other side of...

Snow removal options - plow, pusher, blower, loader

I started out using a FEL mounted power angle plow on the front with the blower on the back. Since the FEL plow can pile snow 12' high if necessary, I found I rarely needed the blower. In fact, I haven't used it in 5 seasons. I now keep a cinder spreader on the back mostly as a counterweight...

    Leaky front axle

Same tractor, same problem. The right side seal started leaking UDT2 fluid at around 200 hours. I switched to 80/90 gear oil which stopped the leak. At 350 hours, it started leaking the 80/90 so I switched to 85/140 and the leak again stopped. I traded the tractor 2 years later at 550 hours...

    Trespasser.....what would you do?

Good advice. Many states now have a purple paint law. Be aware that the paint you reference is temporary marking paint which deteriorates quickly. It will work but I suggest using Rust Oleum's "No Hunting Purple" #270970 instead. It isn't fluorescent but it will last much longer.

    Bolt Size Help

I usually resort to my tap & die set to find a bolt or hole size & pitch. Try different taps to see if you can get one that threads in. A tap works better than a bolt for this since it will clean paint and debris from the threads. Use care so you don't cross thread. If all else fails, you can...
