    Question regarding diesel fuel additives

30 years ago my concern over reduced lubricity in diesel fuel led me to Stanadyne Performance Formula fuel treatment by a diesel repair shop. In all theses years and thousands of hours, I've never had a fuel or injector problem. Not one. I also water block and regular filter my fuel kept in an...

Powering a 12V fuel pump with battery charger?

I have two 12V pumps and power off old "dead" batteries I have on an occasional trickle charger. "Expired" batteries have powered my 12V pumps for years. I replace when a better one gets replaced but have never been let down. Apparently those pumps don't need much to power them.

    Question regarding diesel fuel additives

I bought a new-to-me '97 Ford F250 and it had 4 to 5 year old diesel fuel in it. It ran pretty cr@ppy on that fuel. On fresher fuel it ran much better. Then I bought some Power Service diesel treatment and some Lucas lubricity additive and injector cleaner and wow, it ran shockingly better than...

Non Standard 3 Point Backhoe Pin?

I had a Woods 3 point backhoe 30 years ago before I realized the damage I could do to my tractor. more than that, a broken part could kill you. To lessen that, my Woods backhoe came with specially hardened bolts for specific points. You had to use their pins. And I did. Maybe that's what you have?

Can you manually turn the pto hookup on the back of the tractor?

Here's how we have survived so long in life and not been in tractor accident. We survive on the odds of probability. Not all people get in car accidents but odds increase as miles driven rise. That we haven't hit the jackpot as we get older doesn't lessen the odds of a trauma , it increases...

Is Costco Kirkland diesel rated 15W40 OK in gas farm tractor? It's also "SN" (?) rated.

After researching Costco synthetic API/gas engine oil and being familiar with the refiner's products, I switched gas cars and gas light truck to it from Mobil 1. It works and rates higher in additive package. Plus it has a little color so I can see the dipstick level after I change it...

Is Costco Kirkland diesel rated 15W40 OK in gas farm tractor? It's also "SN" (?) rated.

I bought some Kirkland (Costco) diesel rated oil for diesel tractor summer use. It's rated for that and shown in these photos. But I just noticed it's also rated for gas engines--I think--because it has an API SN rating. Does that SN mean I can use in a gas tractor as well? I know not to use...

Can you manually turn the pto hookup on the back of the tractor?

In this PTO safety talk know that implements with a flywheel, like a baler, often roll or bump just a bit and will turn the PTO shaft. Can you manually turn the pto hookup on the back of the tractor?

You can also bend a 1/4" rod of steel into an "S" bend and use it to hook into the u-joint and on one end then up to some point on the implement. It's quick and easy and what many European lighter implements now come with as standard OEM equipment. PTO shaft then stays up and out of the way.

John Deere 5205 Top Link Repair

It's not often you get a happy ending on equipment these days. I had a 2002, JD 5520 with similar problem and similar solution. Some times you just have to keep at things till they work again. Fast substitution of parts often gets lesser quality and lesser results when using. And yes, JD parts...

Tips for cleaning pleated cab air filters

For cab tractors I have had, I blow them out in reverse of air intake flow and use a low psi because that's what the owner's manual said. First I tap the filter on the ground and a lot of the dust will fall out. Then reverse blow at 15-20 psi. If the filter can be washed, and they will tell you...
