There use to be a pile of rocks near my childhood home called Split Rock. They were removed over sixty years ago when the road was paved. There aren't many of us left who can understand directions that tell which way to turn at Split Rock.
There used to be a lady around here who was addicted to paregorc. My mother used to refer to her as the paregorc woman. I can taste the nasty stuff now just from thinking about it.
Nearly fifty years ago the nearest small town to where I grew up put in a second red light. I'd moved away and didn't know about it. I pulled up to the intersection and stopped like I always had and couldn't figure out why the police car on the other side didn't pull out. After a while, I...
Thanks for that. What you said confirms my suspicion that the peg has a detent to hold it up or down rather than a spring to pull it up. Now I won't have to check a bike at Tractor Supply.
My misplaced phone turned up.
The photo includes the sheet rock screw that I used as an extractor with the tiny spring around it's threads. The peg is upside down beside it. The rusty piece of metal lying on top of the upside down peg goes below the peg.
Here's a link to an aftermarket set of...
When I pulled what was left of the spring out of a blind hole it didn't tell me how the part that flips the peg up attaches. I may have to order one complete peg with spring to see how they hook up.
I have a Coleman CT200U-Ex minibike, camo fenders and fake tank. If anyone has ever replaced the sprigs on the foot pegs, please tell me where I can source some. The ones I've found include the peg. All I need are the springs.
I bought this magnetic sweeper for the Members Only price of $9.99. To test it, I rolled it over a 9/16 open end wrench twice and it picked it up both times. If it keeps my tired old bones from having to crawl under or out from under a vehicle to get a tool once, I'll call it money well spent...
I was feeding my cat small helpings to keep her from throwing up. When I took her to the vet it turned out she had potential kidney problems and hypothyroidism one or both of which can cause nausia. The vet gave me some meds for her and the throwing up ceased temporarily.
When the septic tank was acting up a couple of years back I went to the laundromat and noticed that the clothes didn't smell clean. Had no idea about them using recycled water.
Oaktree and oosik,
Thank you for replying. I've considered buying one but always decided there are other things I need more. I think I'll hold off a while longer or until a more accurate forecast is more critical to my situation.
I'm right handed but, years ago, when I used to water ski on one ski, I always put my left foot in the front binding. Why? Because that's the way the slalom water skier in the Sears Catalog did it. No other reason.
I don't recall ever seeing anyone dip a bit in water to prevent burning, in a Drill Doctor demonstration, and don't understand why not. Will someone please enlighten me?

I looked through the " Recently Uploaded" videos of one channel and didn't notice anything missing. To be sure, I'd need a list of all of the videos that channel ever had up.
I tried to check,, but since I couldn't remember the title of the episode I was looking for had no luck. Part of the title has come to me. I'll try again. Thank you.
I tried too check but since I couldn't remember the title of the video I was looking for didn't have any luck. Part of it just came to me. I'll try again. Thanks!
It appears that YouTube has taken down the less popular videos. I was hoping they'd only changed the way they're accessed. Your explanation could be helpful later on. Thanks.
I had a friend who's twin brother lived in Buffalo NY. She was always talking about the lake effect snow they had up there. She's passed on and I hope he's doing well.
Coincidentally, I recently learned that LeBeau was a holocaust survivor and a while before that, that all or most of the Germans on the show were played by Jewish actors.
One of my favorite features of Youtube has long been the buttons that allowed me to see a list of all of the presentations on a channel from newest first or oldest first. This made it essy to find a presentation when I'd forgotten it's name. I clicked on the name of the channel then Videos...
A Flying Fortress and a Douglas C-47 Skytrain also called Dakota came to our tiny local airport many years ago. The event might have been called a display. If there was a show, I missed it. The Dakota happened to fly , past my house on the way in. It flew so low I was afraid it was about to...
It smells like it could be wax. Was it applied at the factory? As far as I know, after market rust proofing isn't a big thing in here in SC. I don't even know where I'd go to have it applied.
If you want lawn like a manicured golf course, a slasher probably isn't for you. If, like me, you want something that requires little maintenance and will keep the snakes from having a hiding place you might be happy with a slasher. I used one on my grass for several years and so did my...
Last time I went to an antique car show, I noticed that the interior of one or two smelled just like some of the old prewar bangers my dad used to drive to work. I think the smell came from some kind of adhesive in the upholstery. Wish I knew for sure.
If I'm not mistaken the closest vehicle the Germans had to a Jeep was made by Volkswagen and dune buggies were intentionally or unintentionally throwbacks to it.
I knew a lady who was probably in her early sixties and building a two story house. She didn't take my suggestion to build only one storty. Now, she's around eighty and I wonder if she ever goes up stairs.
Thanks /, that site has a parts supplier I hadn't seen before.
I have a distant cousin who started on a mini bike as a kid in the 70's and moved up to a Harley. He's also a photographer and once got a bike picture published in one of the biker magazines.
I've done some pretty dumb things. The first day, I got off and tried to let it pull it's self over a log. The bikes was getting ahead of me and instinctively, I held tight to the hand grips. A bad idea for something with a twist grip throttle. As it continued to climb the log my hand twisted...
Those additions sound like good ideas.
I put a larger rear sprocket on mine to slow it down. It's used it in the woods and it was too fast to avoid trees without constantly speeding up and slowing down.
I'm sorry about your arthritis but glad to see I'm not the only old guy riding one...
The most frustrating thing about my minibike is that the seal on the gas cap allows gasoline to slosh out and run down the side in rough terrain. I've been through a few caps and none consistently keep the fuel in. Today, I ordered a complete tank with a threaded cap and fuel neck. We'll see...
Saying "You can’t eat your cake and have it, too,” instead of the more common, “You can’t have your cake and eat it too.” got the Unabomber where he is today, in prison.
"Porcelain" is one of the words that male me think I might have a touch of dyslexia. Unless I concentrate on the individual letters, I tend to think it's "proclean".
Thanks Xfaxman. I guess I forgot to click on the picture.
The only thing I can think of is that the gadget might have held some type of directional antenna mast. If the holes at the bottoms of the legs were the only points of attachment it wouldn't have been very stable so that's probably a...
The two disc Ferguson plow looks to me like the one that's sometimes called a bullet plow. All of the ones I remember being called that, were gray. A dedicated Ferguson buff might know whether being gray is a requirement for the nickname.
So.you've changed it! Congratulations.
Please post instructions. I could swear I changed a title or two some years back but have either lost the ability or my imagination is running wild.
I'm playing around with Google Earth on my smart phone and have three questions:
1. Is it common for Google Earth to have roads labeled incorrectly?
2. If the answer to number 1 is yes, is there an easy way to have the mistake corrected?
3. Would Google Earth Pro provide better...
I've levered many a tube type tire on and off using a variety of different levers, most were not intended for that purpose. If I were to try it with a tubeless tire I'd be careful not to damage the inside bead of the tire or the metal rim for fear of ruining the seal. Harbor Freight has some...
That reminds of the smell of.newspapers in my younger.days. They don't smell like.they used to and I miss it. Don't know whether someone changed the ink or my nose went out on me.
There is an ad blocker on the Kindle app site. It must be the one that occasionally sends a notice telling me how many ads it's blocked. I've got to remember to try and turn those notices off.
Torvy,
Thanks!
Before I started having all of that trouble with my tablet, my message included basically the following that I didn't retype because my nerves were shot.
Several years ago, I installed an add-on that cost approximately $15.00 and couldn't tell much difference. I think it was the...
My message above illustrates one of the infurating problems I have with my Fire 8 tablet. I attempted to delete and edit some of my message only to delete part of Torvy's quoted text as well. I couldn't delete and start over on the tablet because I haven't been able to find "delete message" on...
The grooves got messed up in mine once. I tried lubricant and cleaning without success. Finally I took a file and tried to make everything in there smooth. Never saw any particularly high spots, but it did the trick. I was careful not to over do the filing.
I didn't think there'd be enough Fire tablet users too get so many responses. If enough users keep putting up what you're good at we'll know who to ask when we get into a pickle.
My current project is getting used to a wireless keyboard and mouse.
I've been using these inexpensive tablets for years and directions are hard for me to find. If anyone would like to share tips and tricks on these tablets please PM me and we can do it off group.
Over a year ago, I started using liquid to shower and wash my hands. It helps prevent my fingers drying out and cracking. The jury's still out on whether it leaves less soap scum in the shower.
To save a few quarters, I tried refilling the pump bottles. No matter how many times I pressed the...
I went to the Ford dealer and asked for a washer. They didn't have one and the counter man let me have the metal plug and all for the price of a washer, five bucks and change. I also got two packs of assorted rubber and metal washers at a parts store, just in case, ten bucks and change. The...
Peter,
My only source for flat copper would be to split and flatten a piece of copper tubing. The Ford dealer is within 4 miles and I'll pass a parts store on the way. Unless something comes up, I think I'll risk the trip. Thanks for the info on heating and cooling slowly. I'll keep an eye...
I was changing the oil In my old Ranger pickup and noticed that the plastic washer around the O-ring was broken. I had a box of assorted Harbor Freight O-rings and sealed the plug with the one that fit best. It's not leaking now and I'm considering leaving it on until the next oil change...
I did a search for images using the words (vole burrows South Carolina) and some of the pictures looked very close to the ones I've found in the pasture.
Thanks for the size comparison. The ones I've seen might have been the size of a golf ball, too. It's been a while and my memory is not the best. I think they were there in late fall or early winter. I was probably looking for black wallnuts so I could show my grandson how to d rive them...
I couldn't find any measurements my apologies if I missed them. How deep is the hole and what's the distance across? Approximately how many holes have you found and how far apart. Are there any holes that aren't connected.
I'm curious because in years past, I've found numerous holes near...
A neighbor wanted a windmill over fifty years ago and paid several visits to my grandfather because he'd seen the one at the farm erected and had maintained it. The neighbor finally found one, restored it, and had it set up with a large wrecker truck. He and his wife drilled a well with a type...
In summers in the late 50's we used to notice a kind of sweet smell at night which I was told was insecticide dust put on the cotton plants after dew had fallen so it would stick. The smell was kind of pleasant to me. Later.on when mechanical pickers became more widely used, the defoliant that...
On the first day of seventh grade there was a girl in the class who'd been held back from the class ahead of us and possibly a class before that. She was taller than most of us and drop dead gorgeous. From the few glimpses I got of her she looked like a model. I was looking forward to feasting...
Albuquerque must be one big place. We drove around it on our trip out west and it seemed like we'd never get past it. It's the only big city I remember from the trip. The other thing I remember from the drive is the high number of pickup trucks with passengers riding in the bed. I sometimes...
Sometimes I wonder how many people are killed while trying to fasten their seatbelts while driving, or trying to reach into their pocketswith the seatbelt restricting access
There's an Aermotor on our family farm that hasn't pumped water since sometime near to when the Rural Electric Association brought in power to run a pump.
A few weeks back, I found a dead spot in the grass up near a utility pole. After puzzling over it I remembered it was on the exact spot where I'd snagged the gas tank on a guy wire and knocked it off the gas tank on the previous mowing. My Snapper Rear Engine Rider has a lift out gas tank...
When I looked at the thread's title for the umpteenth time it finally occurred to me that there had to be s real "Hole in the Wall" restaurant somewhere.
Here's one.

This one is in Arizona. The Hole in the Wall where Butch...
I finally got to examine the helmet. It felt like it was three times the weight of the one I had in '64, there was much more padding . Couldn't find an airbag.
I thought the title might refer to that legendary case of beer that some "how to" articles have said could be used in payment for hundreds of dollars worth of work instead of money.
Did yoir grandparents live in Austria? I think I've seen a photo of a European single cylinder diesel tractor. It may have been the one that was started by a shotgun shell.
Thanks for the photo. There's little wonder producers like to film in Alberta.
I've found Heartland on Prime. There's beautiful scenery in most of the thumb nails.
I'm pretty sure Alberta is a part of the world where huge hay stacks put up with sweep rakes and beaver slides were once the very popular. Here's a link to the modern small scale version. The guy covers his...
My grandfather used to plant oats, cut them with a cycle bar mower and leave them on the ground until they were dry enough to rake and bail for hay. I've cut pasture grass with a 5' Woods Cadet rotary mower with the hay door removed. If it was damp after a day on the ground I might have...
When I was around nine or ten I used to sprinkle DDT onto a litter of puppies and rub it in with my hands. Pretty soon I noticed that two of them couldn't lift themselves up on their front legs while the rest of the litter were running around like puppies do. I guess I'll never know whether...
Yesterday, I clicked on " Don't recommend channel" for two YouTube news channels that are usually polar opposites as well as many others who's content gets on my nerves.
I recently saw a video on Fritz Haber who discovered nitrate fertilizer and another on Thomas Midgely Jr. who discovered how to make not only leaded gasoline but also Freon.
I think my grandson is playing at the Y and the helmet I had was for a three family "league" that one of the other country kids dreamed up. We were always short several players on each side.
My grandson is almost eight. His football helmet cost $300.00:eek: and the WWW tells me they go up to at least $450.00. I know they're trying to prevent brain injury but what on earth do they put in kid's football helmets to make them so expensive?
I had similar symptoms when I put a see through filter on a Snapper. When I replaced it with a tiny red original equipment filter, the problem went away. The Snapper has a gravity flow fuel system.
A YouTube mechanic explained that a fuel pump is required to pull fuel through some clear filters...
I finally remembered. Bishopville is the home of our state's most famous silly monster, Lizardman.

My son was a kid during the time that The Dukes of Hazard was in afternoon reruns and wanted to watch it everyday. After seeing a demonstration of how the rolls and some other stunts were performed they became very boring to me. There's another reason for a magician to never reveal his tricks.
The clear coat on a car new car I bought, bubbled up, came off in spots, and looked awful. This was a while back, I hope clear coat has been improved since then.
Jeff,
Thanks for putting that up.
When I came across it, I'd just read the post by someone looking for a cab to install on his tractor to keep him from freezing in winter. Before even finishing his post, I was curious as to his where he lived that he'd want to go through all of that trouble...
I too, think it's a fuel issue, possibly: wrong filter, filter installed backward, or collapsing fuel line. Just in case though, I'd probably get an inline spark checker handy and check for spark as soon as the engine quits running next time. My spark checker came from Harbor Freight and I...
Now, you've got me thinking about a traffic safety film they showed our PE class called Mechanized Death. It gave the gore flick Blood Feast, on at the drive in that year, a run for the money.
To get a rough idea, I'd go to Tractorhouse.com and see what they're asking for them there or search for "John Deere M for sale".
I've been told that Ms have something expensive in the rear end that's prone to break.
I've bought a small portable radio to leave playing on the mini bike when I take it in the woods. The bike is the camo edition and difficult to find in summer.
My back went out before Christmas and I thought lifting my Coleman Mini bike onto the reciever hitch rack might have caused it. Today I decided I was sufficently recovered to put it on the rack again. First I wanted to make sure it would run.
I set the choke and pulled on the rope...Nothing...
Being from the other Carolina, I was curious about the Tar River and read the Wikipedia article. One theory about how it got it's it's name has to do with a POW swap during the Civil War. It probably could'a happened that way.
