Cleaning Landscape Rock in Flower Beds

Yeah, about what I am currently doing too. In my case, mold is not an issue (the Texas sun pretty much bakes this off). Of course, for me, a difficult task is removing the rock to be cleaned without damage to the fabric. But, that's what I get for doing this ! Have a lot of dirt / dust in mine...

Cleaning Landscape Rock in Flower Beds

After a few years of continuous weeding, I decided to create a buffer zone around my entire house. These "flower beds" extend 8-10' all the way around. I chose to use landscape cloth and top this with "small" washed rock. The rocks are say 3" down to .5" washed gravel that I can get locally. The...

    Best fuel additives

I typically use Diesel Kleen (aka, Power Service) or Sea Foam. Both available locally at Walmart. Best ? Needed ? I am not a chemist, mechanic or pretend to know any details. I have (2) engine mechanic friends who have both told me it's a good idea to keep stabilizer / treatment in my fuel. My...

    Electric Fence?

Nutcracker, First let me say I claim no expertise here, others have given some good advice. Keeping deer out is beyond my experiences - I have only done electric fence for cattle at times. By my standards, this is a small fence run. IF and only IF, you are also trying to keep other animals out...

    Gravely or Cub Cadet

Just bought a Hustler Fastrak. I have owned a Gravely before, been a long time ago. My research into ZTR mowers was confusing. There seems to be 100's of machines out there. All I can say is, I have not heard good things about a Cub. BUT, ... ? My small engine mechanic said Scag or Hustler with...

Stupid Newbie question #87342: Regular Diesel vs “off-road diesel” vs home heating oil

It is NOT a dumb question. At least for ME, there are limited places to get "Farm (red) Diesel". I stopped bothering with it ! The place I was dealing with requires you to present and keep updated your AG card (from the State, Texas) AND is "out of the way". I used to do a lot of business at...

    Battery Help

Wow, that is a good question. I think most are junk *compared* to a few years ago. Recently purchased "Die Hard" (2) for my tractor because that is what they had in stock. Battery powered chainsaw

Recently bought the DeWalt 20V because I have numerous tools for this line. No complaints so far, IF you only expect to do "light work". It will easily cut what I need to do with it. Good Question. I am looking to do this also. On a small portable shed, I purchased a tube of sealant that claimed was good for exposed metal. That seemed to work on a couple of leaky screws. How much does it cost to build a pole barn and what kind is best..

I could not agree more about hiring a local company. Unless, and even if you do purchase a kit, few consider all the time associated with completing this type of project. It's not like a do-it-yourselfer cannot do it, but this can be troublesome unless you are very experienced and or have...

First time buying a tractor tips?

    Spreader or sprayer?

Understand completely. Most is dry. There are a few liquids at Home Depot. For me at least, I think the dry is better for fertilizer ? Fencing my property

From what I understand, (which, I do not claim is much), taxes do not necessarily have anything to do with adverse possession. The taxes are paid based on a survey that takes place when the land is sold. A fence may be put up afterwards and not effect how much land you are taxed on. Years...

What size dozer for this land clearing job?

    Newbie MIG machine recommendation

So far, my summary: Thanks to all, this has been really helpful / educational. Machine / Equipment: Still targeting the Hobart 210 MVP. The Miller 211 appears to have dial type settings instead of fixed and *perhaps* therefore, offers more simple setup / controls However, I am not certain...

Looking to buy my first JD

Rut, You may have already chosen a machine by now ? FWIW, I have had a JD Z425 for about 10 years. I purchased mine at a JD Dealer after noting the differences between the same model at "big box" stores. They box stores are really clever at hiding swapped components on the "same" products. I...

    Newbie MIG machine recommendation

Chim, I need to sell the Stick to afford the Mig. I really do not weld very much now (retirement is looming...) but hope to have the time later. To prove to you how little I actually KNOW / WELD, I have zero idea what a knurled drive roller is ! :) Also, I am NOT aware (yet) of the...

    Newbie MIG machine recommendation

Thank-you for your kind replies. Hobart was on my list. After re-reading some reviews, I think the Hobart 210 MVP is my choice ! I need to get my current Stick unit sold to fund the new purchase. Having the "multi-voltage" capability is one of those " wish I would have gotten that unit" things...

FEL lubrication - has to be a better way

Frank, I got SO tired of this.... I bought the dewalt 20V grease gun (have a lot of dewalt 20v tools anyway) AND then the lockNlube attachment. I know its $$ but.... couldnt figure out a better way. If I did not already have the DeWalt tools, I think I would have replaced ALL the Zerk...

    Newbie MIG machine recommendation

I am in the market for a MIG (wire feed) machine. Have been looking at (seems like) 100's of models, but having trouble with a selection. My basic requirements are up to 1/4" steel; however, 95% of my projects are geared toward "garden / home" projects using tubing / thin wall metal. I would...

    3 point sprayer help

I checked into the Camlock fittings by making a call to Wylie (in Waco, Tx) where my rig was made. Interestingly the guy who answered said "oh, we use Camlock on a lot of our equipment". They have an extensive online catalog with more fittings / parts than you can imagine. I had to walk thru...

Interesting on the Canola Oil ! Hmmm, I was concerned about using some product that I had to spray out on the field / driveway.

    3 point sprayer help

Re-posting this thread as time nears to use and drain sprayer. Can someone elaborate more on these connectors or give me a better idea ? I am confused about the camlock / schrader value suggestions ? I have PLASTIC fittings on the inlet / outlet of the pump with "barbed" fittings for the hoses...

    Newbie Help 3-point tool bar

I am trying to understand what tool bar I should get. A tool bar (to me) includes the bar and the "3-point" "frame". What I am trying to understand is: - is there a "standard" or rather, a "common" size for the tool bar ? I see various sizes 2", 2.5".... on and on - also, even in the same size...

    Disc Harrow  Newbie Question

I would like to have some attachment to break up the top hard pan soil. What I am imagining (but, I do not know if something like this exists) is a set of knives / chisels ? I sold my 5 shank renovator some years ago. It was difficult to use for me (55 hp), the moisture level had to be perfect...

    3 point sprayer help

:confused2: I just purchased a Wiley 100 Gal 3-point sprayer with a Hypro Silver (8-roller) Series pump. The reason for my concern is I previously owned a sprayer (tow behind) with a Hypro blue pump and had all kind of issues. I only spray about 2-3 times / year, so the sprayer sat most of the...

    Newbie Question

I was wondering if anyone sells a combination disk, renovator, planter unit. I had a renovator, which I sold a few years back. I believe it was a Hay King model (5 shank). I routinely had to raise (2) shanks to use since my tractor was only 55 HP and had trouble with 5 shanks. The reason I am...
