    New to Me D-Series

I’m now part of the club! 2009 ToolCat with seemingly all of the options. Was previously owned by two farmers and I was told that it was never used for spreading salt. High hours (4300) but appears to be very well-maintained. I noticed that each of the filters had the hours handwritten to...

Most effective brush mower for a ToolCat (D-series)?

I'm buying a D-series on Monday and need to find a brush cutter. I have 10 acres to cut and most of it is wild fields. Can a 90" mower go through 7-foot teasels and grass, if the speed is reduced? Or does it make more sense to get a proper brush cutter?

PT-1850 stability vs tracked skid steer

Is the PT-1850 with dual tires more stable on undulating terrain than a compact track loader?

How to avoid holes while brush cutting?

I have 10 acres of of five-foot growth. There are quite a few holes in the ground from when the property was a tree farm. Is there some kind of attachment (DIY or manufactured) that I can put on the bucket to act as a lookout for holes and really uneven terrain?

    Forestry Mulcher vs Tree Service

I need to selectively cut down about fifty trees or so. Most are between six and eight inches. I’ve rented a high-flow CTL with mulching head in the past and have also hired a 250hp machine to thin out about 10 acres of growth. All I need now is a bit of surgical mulching so that I can brush hog...

    Easiest to sell used tractor?

I have a some small projects that can be completed in a few months with a small tractor. I don't see a need to hold on to a small tractor long-term, as I'm holding out for a Bobcat Toolcat. It doesn't make sense to rent something, because I can only work on the projects for a couple hours a day...

    Wheel spacers for Toolcat

Does anyone make wheel spacers for Toolcats? I use drove one for the first time. Solid machine, though I would prefer just a touch more stability.

    Hydro Ax for Pushing Trees

Can a Hydro Ax with shearing head be used to push trees over with the root ball, rather than cutting them and then dealing with stump? I’m wondering how sturdy the shearing head is and whether it can be used to push and pull a tree instead of just cutting it.

Going rate for dozer and operator?

I have ten acres of lightly wooded land that needs clearing. I've tried a disk mulcher, drum mulcher and just popping the trees one by one. The result is not what I'm looking for. I recently saw a Cat 963 smooth out a couple acres without even trying to hard. What is the going rate for a...

    V518 vs V519

It appears that the V518 Versahandler has a 100hp engine. To anyone who has operated both, does the older V518 seem more capable than the V519, which only has 74hp? Do both models have the power Bob-tach system for attachments? @Xfaxman Have you ever tried unloading a 20’ shipping container...

    L4330 not turning on

I have a 2006 L4330 HSTC. I used the tractor for a couple hours yesterday and then parked it. There were no issues with starting the tractor yesterday. This morning, I noticed a degradation of electrical components. First I was able to get the glow plug to turn on, but not crank the starter. The...

    Least Tippy Machine

I have a Kubota L4330 with 6-inch wheel spacers and ag tires. I thought for sure this arrangement would provide the level of stability I was looking for, but it doesn't. I live on 14 acres of rolling/bumpy land that was previously a tree farm. There are holes all over the place and the land is...

Filling a Hundred Holes (6-feet across, 4-feet deep)

My property was previously a tree farm and I have over a hundred holes where the trees were dug out, balled, and burlapped. I tried filling the holes with my Kubota L4330, but I made very little progress scraping off surrounding dirt and using that as fill. I've also tried loosening up dirt with...

Buying Advice  What is the smallest machine with a front category-1 3-point hitch and PTO

I have a Kubota L4330. It is an outstanding machine, but I am getting tired of constantly twisting my back and neck for hours at a time. Is there a machine (not necessarily a tractor) that accepts *standard* 3-pt attachments in the front? If not, how big of job is it to put a 3-pt and PTO in a...

    Depreciation Curve for Used Tractors

Has anyone seen (or have guesses of) depreciation curves related to used tractors? For example, used cars look something like this: I assume with tractors the depreciation curve has less to do with the year and much more related to the hours. Is the life of a tractor (for resale/depreciation...

    Toolcat Years and Major Features

Buying Advice  Is there anything comparable to a Bobcat ToolCat (besides Power-Trac/Ventrac)

I live on 14 acres of ag-zoned land in suburban Chicago. The ToolCat is incredibly expensive, but I'm really attracted to the stability and general utility of the vehicle. It's known as a swiss army knife without being able to do anything particular well, which is just fine by me. I don't have...
