Ricn, buy a good set of points, plugs, and condenser like blue streak. I would even change out the ignition wires.

Before replacing all those parts, run a points file or a piece of sandpaper thru the closed points. Doesn,t take much for them to corrode and not make contact like they should. Use a 12 volt test light to check for continuity of negative ground on both sides of the points when they are closed.

I agree with jjeff, I cut a piece of conveyor belt so it fits into each battery tray.

Are you 100 % sure you have the firing order correct ? Remove the dist. cap, and check rotor cap rotation direction. Re-verify the spark plug wire installation on the dist. cap.

Remove the batteries from the tractor. Charge them to 100%. Then use a load tester to properly check the battery state. That helps determine if there is a problem on the tractor side, or the battery side.

Keep pushing the decision out on building the horse barn a year at a time, until the want of having horses dis-appears. You can thank me latter. LOL

Would some diagonal bracing help, if you put it in with screws between each vertical piece ?

The multi-meter test on the battery doesn,t mean much. The fully charged battery needs to be load tested. If the starter doesn,t engage into the flywheel with a good battery, to crank the engine over, by putting battery directly to the starter, there is a problem with the starter.

Put your tractor in neutral, and set the brakes. Turn your ignition key to the run position. Make sure you touch the correct side of the solenoid. The correct side has the large cable going directly to the starter. To eliminate the possibility of a bad tractor battery, use a set of booster...

What I would do is, bypass everything, by temporarily touching a booster cable directly to the starter, once the key is in the run position. Get it started, and then move it to a safe place so you can work on finding the root cause of your problem.

I run my BX2370 at 3K RPM while mowing my 2 acres. It never bogs, but I am only cutting 4-5 inch tall grass, at 3 inches. Yes, you are correct, that is road salt. That is a couple of kilometers from our place. Gigantic piles of salt have accumulated across the road, and are ready to be dispatched locally and many other areas including the Ottawa region.
