Here is a picture of the new tank with a hose barb “tit” for the fuel return line to go “on.” The tank that’s on there now has a “hole” for the fuel return line to go “in.” It’s a major difference.

I painted the muffler and exhaust manifold with a can of Rust-Oleum High Heat Flat Black Ceramic Coating that’s good up to 2000° Fahrenheit. I am pleased with how it turned out. I need another can of Green and 1 can of Red spray paint to finish touching up.

The grey market Yanmar tractors do not have live PTO. That’s one reason you have to add an over running coupler (aka over running clutch). They do, however, have live hydraulics. This means the 3 pt. hitch will function regardless if the clutch pedal is depressed or not.

I ended up buying the LMC tiller and an LMC row hiller. Haven’t got to use them yet but they are both quality made pieces of equipment.

Anybody have any good or bad experience with these tillers? I know they’re imported and made by Shaktiman Agro in India. They seem to be well-built. They are sold here in the USA under the names LMC (Lowery Manufacturing in Boaz, Alabama), Farm Maxx, and Ironcraft. Thanks

Looks like the only thing that needs to be done is replace the fuel lift pump. Very simple, and cheap fix. If I can do it, anybody can do it.

Somebody added that electric fuel pump. It didn’t come from the factory like that. Last year on my 1998 MF 231, the little nylon fuel filter came off the fuel valve petcock inside the tank and rust stopped up the fuel supply line. I ordered a new nylon fuel filter and a new manual lift pump...

The 231 (not the 231S) was in production for 10 years, from 1989-1999. It was made in Poland by URSUS. Mine is a 1998 year model. Early models had square fenders and later models had the shell type fenders. The 231S took the place of the 231. Very good, strong and reliable tractors!!

Might have to pry it loose with a flathead screwdriver. Mine took a little persuasion to come off also.

It could be the power steering control valve. Check for leaks everywhere in the power steering system. There is a video on YouTube by “BUTTEWORKS” on how to rebuild the cylinders and control valve. The part number for the control valve rebuild kit is Sparex S.6380 and you can find it on Amazon...
