    Kubota Manuals from Kubotaprints.com

Has anyone ever purchased a manual from Kubotaprints.com ? I'm looking for the operator manual for the M7060 I just purchased (private sale). They're linked to Kubota's website and offer manuals available for download or print. I'd like to know if their printed version is similar to an...

    TIRE CHAINS

I run studded OFA EKO chains. They offer amazing traction on all surfaces, including ice. They're designed to run loose so there's no need for tensioners and they're easy to install. I got mine fron Austin Farm Enterprises in Bainbridge, NY. 729627

    Talk about inflation....

I recently found 3 gallon cases of T5 at our local BJ's for $30, or $10/gallon. I bought all 10 cases they had in stock. I normally run T6 15w-40 but couldn't turn down a deal like that. It turns out someone had priced them incorrectly, the sale price plus another 50% off at the register.

    Saving a 5g fuel can

I fixed a small pin hole on the bottom of an old Evinrude gas tank with JB weld and it's holding up just fine. Just sand it and clean it up good and put a glob of JB epoxy over the hole. For regular gas cans I really like the plastic "utility jugs" they sell at TSC. They will hold 6 gallons...

    Seafoam testing

I use a strong dose of seafoam (1 bottle per gallon of gas/oil mix) to decarb 2-stroke outboards. It's crazy how much black goo leaks out the exhaust afterwards. The stuff works great to break up and liquify the carbon.

    power tool recommendation

I've got a Generac with a Honda GX390 engine and CAT pump that's over 20 years old and still works like new. All I've ever done to it is keep the oils changed in the engine and pump and a new spark plug at one point.

    T6 replacement

My Duramax was using oil, around a quart every 5k miles, when I was running Mobil TDT 5w-40. I switched to Rotella T6 5w-40 and it stopped using oil completely. I've never tried it in any of my tractors since the Rotella works better in my truck, and it's just easier to run the same oil in...

Kubota L3710 Oil and Hydraulic Filter Recommendations?

Oh, and I'd definitely stay away from Fram for any filters. You'd be further ahead to just not change it at all versus replacing it with a Fram.

Kubota L3710 Oil and Hydraulic Filter Recommendations?

You can use aftermarket filters for the engine oil but I'd only use Kubota filters for the hydraulics and HST. They may cross reference to another brand but you'll likely run into problems. I tried to use a cross referenced NAPA Gold (WIX) filter once to replace the HST filter, since I didn't...

Mixing used oil with diesel in the tractor.

You'd be further ahead to just look for people selling their heating oil, which is the same as off road diesel. Around me people are getting rid of their fuel oil fired furnaces and boilers. It does go quick though so you have to check ads daily. I recently scored 168 gallons of fuel oil for...

    SURPRISE!

On one of our camping trips we needed an extra section of sewer hose to make the connection. Luckily I opened the box at Walmart before purchasing. Someone had returned a used sewer hose. It even had remnants of toilet paper stuck to the end. I wonder how many of these items get returned as...

This has to be a record !!!

We've had our Speed Queen washer for about 12 years now and it's still going strong. There's parts availability too since Speed Queen builds most of the commercial models for laundromats. They are pricey but they're built like a tank. If you're in the market for a simple, no frills washing...

This has to be a record !!!

We've become a throw away society. Companies build appliances (and most everything else) to hopefully last long enough to get through the warranty period. When they fail the parts to fix them sometimes cost nearly as much as a new one or they're unavailable, so it's more cost effective to just...

Gravity Farm Diesel Tank, is it worth getting one.

A heating oil tank with a 120 volt pump and filter is what I use and it works great. It holds 250 gallons. In northern states used tanks go for next to nothing and are sometimes nearly new. Even a new tank and pump would be much less than $2k.

Is anyone interested in swapping F series mower decks? My 72" RD for your 72" SD?

Just giving this a bump to see if there's any interest. I've managed to find two 72" SD decks within a five hour drive from me but they were both sold before I could snatch them up, within a couple days of the listing. Used decks for F series tractors seem to be very few and far between, and...

    Cleaning Loader Arm Grease

Even though they had to drill my well 200 ft to get 8+ gal/min flow I'm fortunate to have very good quality water. We don't have to soften it and it tastes great right from the tap. My wood boiler in the barn creates "free" hot water 6 months out of the year, so I try to do most of my heavy...

    Cleaning Loader Arm Grease

I just run hot water through a standard 3500 psi pressure washer and it melts away the old nasty grease. I've done it this way for years and it works great. Best to detach the loader from the tractor to prevent grease from slinging all over. Regrease the loader bushings immediately after to...

Love hate our new L4060 HSTC limited edition

Glad you got it figured out. I never cared for the auto throttle much since in most cases it runs a lot higher rpm than what is needed. I set the engine speed for how much power i need (or pto speed if mowing etc) and adjust ground speed with hst pedal.

Love hate our new L4060 HSTC limited edition

Something doesn't seem right with your machine. I've never wished I had more power with my L5740 and it's only 17 more hp than yours on a slightly heavier tractor. It will easily run out of traction in medium high range before it loses power, even with studded chains on the rear. I can...

    Tire Chain Inside Clearance

I just went out to the barn and measured the inside clearance on my L5740 with R4's set to the middle spacing and came up with 2.5" at the narrowest point. I run OFA EKO 9 European style studded chains with no clearance issues. I did swap out the two inside shackles with quick links since they...

Clump of snow fell in my fuel tank!

There are various diesel additives designed to deal with water in fuel. Some work by settling the water out and some keep it in suspension so it will pass through the system. I prefer to have any water settle out of the fuel. As others have mentioned, the tiny bit of water (snow) that entered...

Do you take it to the dealer for maintenance or do it yourself.

I've always done my own maintenance and repairs on everything I own, simply because I trust my own work better than having someone else do it. I also find it enjoyable and it saves me money. It helps having my own lift, although I don't use it for the tractors, and proper tools for the job...

What is the good Chainsaw for clearing?

I guess I'll be the odd ball since I love my Jonsered 2165 (65 cc). I've cut 12-15 cord of wood each year for the last 20 years with this saw and it's never let me down. Always starts easy with a couple pulls and runs flawlessly. All I've ever done as far as maintenance is replace the spark...

    Tire chain sizing and equivalence

I run the OFA EKO 9 chains on the rear of my L5740 and they're excellent chains and provide very aggressive traction in all conditions. I purchased them from Lisco II in Bainbridge, NY 2-3 years ago, which appears to have transitioned recently to Austin Farm Supply. I've been thinking about...

    Studs for snow plowing

I've never used studded tires on a tractor but I run them on our vehicles in the winter. It all depends on how much traction you need. Studs will keep you out of trouble in most icy conditions but they're no match for studded chains if you want the best traction. On icy hills my FWD Buick...

Snow chains, too close to the body

My chains came with a section of rope to tie to the chain and loop over the tire lugs, but I didn't bother using it. Some prefer to "drive" them on but I found it's easier to jack the rear up and rotate the tire by hand, so I can guide the chain on straight. With the recommended slack it...

Snow chains, too close to the body

I wish I had seen this thread back in '17 I would have told you to swap tires side to side for wider stance but you obviously got it figured out. Studs for snow plowing

If you have hills and ice chains are needed. I run OFA EKO studded chains on my rear R4's and rarely need 4x4. I haul all my firewood out of the woods in the winter and have no issues with traction on glare ice or hard snow pack. Used conveyor belting from gravel pits works great to protect...

    No Rotella T6

I found 1 lonely gallon of T4 at my local Walmart so I bought it. I went there for T6 for the truck and tractor but I run the T4 in my boat. I guess it'll sit on the shelf until fall. I noticed the 5 quart jugs of Mobil 1 synthetic increased in price $5. Prices are getting crazy.

    No Rotella T6

Actually the shortages are what cause the hoarding in most cases, which prolongs the shortages. In the case of diesel oil, I've heard from multiple sources that there is a shortage of certain additives used in diesel engine oils. I just stopped in our local Walmart on my way home from work and...

    No Rotella T6

I prefer T6 15w-40 in my 2003 Duramax simply because it stopped consuming oil. It never used very much to begin with, maybe half a quart every 5k miles, but the 15w-40 seems to have stopped this completely. This truck is not a daily driver but regularly tows a heavy 16,000 lb 5th wheel 3...

    Filters on fuel storage tanks

I don't see any benefit from running two filters in series. I also don't use a water block filter on my diesel tank. These filters are all pretty much a standard thread size so it should fit, but wouldn't hurt to check thread size. Any moisture in the tank should condense and fall to the...

Is anyone interested in swapping F series mower decks? My 72" RD for your 72" SD?

Is anyone interested in swapping F series mower decks? My 72" RD for your 72" SD?

The only time I get a decent looking cut is if I mow extremely often, otherwise it clumps terrible coming out the back. I've tried gator blades but they made little to no difference. I've had plenty of other mowers before this, including a 3 point rear discharge, that left a nice looking lawn...

Is anyone interested in swapping F series mower decks? My 72" RD for your 72" SD?

I'm just throwing this out there since I've never liked the rear discharge deck. I have an F3080 that I've had since new in 2015 which currently has 300 engine hours. I also use this for snow removal and other tasks so I'm estimating hours on the mower deck to be around 200, give or take. The...

L5740 Front Tires Upgraded to Fix Lag Ratio

It's been a couple years now with the BKT Skid Power front tires and they were well worth the money for the upgrade.
