Why so much tongue weight on 22' car hauler trailers?

My trailer is similar to the ones pictured. When it’s not loaded I can easily lift the tongue onto a hitch. Y hand because the ramps are that heavy. I hate to tow it empty and usually fill a 55 gal drum with water at the front of the trailer if it’s going to be 100+ miles empty then dump the...

Car - what if engine suddenly quits

If you have a dirt road or empty pavement do the experiment. Get up to a fair speed, put it in neutral, turn off the engine (but make sure you don't lock the steering!) and react. It's going to feel a lot like driving a side by side or an old non-power steering truck.

I’m not 100% sure, I know it has something to do with how the tractor has four wheels Turing that are two different sizes (front vs back). One is a lot more like front wheel assist and the other one will literally grind your tires down if your on pavement which I think is the MFWD.

    Tie Rod Boots

Dang! I thought Kubota’s was over priced at $30.

    Woodchipper Recommendation

I have a Woodmaxx, very pleased. Walensteins are good as well.
  151. S

    Hydrostatic drive

Wouldn’t recommend jumping any tractor, HST or not, landings are rough. Need more info as Arly said.
  152. S

Maybe a new truck Ford or Dodge?

That would explain why they run better.
  153. S

    Finish Mower on steep terrain

That’s going to limit a lot of your mowing to straight up the slope. This will be slow mowing and you’re setting yourself up for erosion issues. With the cost of finish mowers and the terrain you describe I think a zero turn makes a lot of sense.
  154. S

    Floor jack

Because lifting something very heavy that wants to be off balance is hard enough on a solid surface. Not many want to encourage you to do it on uneven and/or unstable surfaces.

    Help, scammers attacking my email

Change your password. Get a VPN. Get an anti virus. Maybe contact scammperpayback and see if they’re interested.

    Drawbar towing.

Fabricated it. Figured out a 2” adapter’s ID matched the OD of the bale spear sleeve so basically it was meant to be
  157. S

    Drawbar towing.

Couldn’t find a better picture but having the receiver on you pallet forks frame does add a lot of options.
  158. S

    Drawbar towing.

Drawbar’s main drawback (lol) is that they have very poor load ratings for downward force. The can pull a crap ton but should be used for anything with meaningful tongue weight. Many 3PT options are available, you just have to be careful you always have tongue weight as it gets embarrassing...

    tractor tipping question

The outriggers aren’t gonna help prevent you from tipping because the fulcrum is the front wheels. Sounds like you are lifting close to a max load and the inertia of your movement is causing the light rear. Slow down, don’t carry so much, or….get a bigger tractor :poop:

    You "Road" Your Tractor?

I know hay dude does it just as a flex!
  161. S

    You "Road" Your Tractor?

Depends. Max I road mine is about 14 miles to my farthest hayfield and I only road it because it’s pulling something then the boy is behind me in the truck pulling something else so it’s just more efficient to make less trips. If I wasn’t making hay, say just brush hogging or something I’d...

    L3130 dash lights

    Okay. Good luck.
  163. S

    L3130 dash lights

Not telling you how to do stuff but have you checked the easy things like fuzes and power at the bulbs/light source?
  164. S

    L3130 dash lights

Depends. HST? 4WD? I would start with “speed change shift fork”.
  165. S

    Boat trailer? Submarine?

Not a single chain or strap???? Haul something wrong much????
  166. S

    Idiots overloading trailers.

Most trailer owners use the "if it fits it ships" mentality. Scary.
  167. S

Maybe a new truck Ford or Dodge?

Warranty’s aren’t free, they’re just prepaid maintenance insurance. Which is interesting when RAM’s price is still much less even with more warranty.

    Neighbor's cattle in yard

Glad that helped. Without having to hire an attorney the Sheriff should have legal counsel through the DA or similar….
  169. S

    Neighbor's cattle in yard

Agree, cows do get out and that wouldn't be an issue in my mind. But if every morning cows are eating my lawn I'd probably get upset.
  170. S

    Neighbor's cattle in yard

Is there an animal nuisance regulation in your township our county? If not then it's likely going to be a civil matter between the two land owners. Not sure who would be in the right if the offended parter called some other local cowhand to come get cows off their property.
  171. S

Maybe a new truck Ford or Dodge?

And the whole thread is not about pickups🤣

    Christmas Gift Ideas

What the heck is "pet **** bleaching"? On second thought, I'll just remain blisfully ignorant.
  173. S

Maybe a new truck Ford or Dodge?

    What truck do you have?
  174. S

Maybe a new truck Ford or Dodge?

Hmmm, I'm not seeing anything advertised.
  175. S

Maybe a new truck Ford or Dodge?

    Ohhhh snap....
  176. S

What did you buy this week?

Just a recommendation but I would hang them inverted below the top of the ROPS. One good branch sliding across could remove all four of those lights.
  177. S

What did you buy this week?

    Pics aren’t loading….

Tractor can't start after installing new starter

And does it move freely and is it lubricated if applicable.
  179. S

Maybe a new truck Ford or Dodge?

My biggest heartburn is just the cost of all that crap. I need a truck to work and I want to do it as affordably as possible. When you look at how many stupid sensors there are, aside from stupid safety requirements, it should be very obvious why the prices are so high. Seriously, a door open...

What are discounts like right now

I don’t think MX or L cabbed tractors are compatible with backhoes? Could be wrong. But yes, not much outside of the NCA equine discount over $250-500 for discounts. Go talk to dealers and you may find something. Barlow’s used to be the gold standard if you wanted the cheapest quote, bought...

Maybe a new truck Ford or Dodge?

    Still in research mode.
  182. S

Real questions that you would like to get an answer…

I understand what you’re saying, and no “thing” is worth dying for. I’d just recommend the plan be flexible. If a home invader enters knowing someone is inside it could be hard to leave and/or impossible. Running to the back door may be the plan for you…and them.
  183. S

Maybe a new truck Ford or Dodge?

They do that because they’re work trucks and most employers don’t want their employees hotrodding around. Dodge and Ford are both offering speed limiters on their chassis cabs too. Not a hard fix with a tuner.
  184. S

Maybe a new truck Ford or Dodge?

Ain’t far. Once I get serious I’ll make a road trip them let them hound me with calls for 30-45 days until they get desperate enough to give me a better deal.
  185. S

Maybe a new truck Ford or Dodge?

I’ve done builds on both websites then “find my truck”. The Rams closet to what I want are in Florida but the Fords are in Texas. I can’t figure that out.
  186. S

    climbing saw

Think they’re $439? That’s what, a tank and a half of gas in your truck🤣 I think the Husky equivalent is 50-75 cheaper? I’m a Stihl guy but I wouldn’t kick a husky out of the truck.
  187. S

Maybe a new truck Ford or Dodge?

And it’s cheaper because you can get is as a chassis without 7million luxury features I’d never use anyway. No carpet, manual windows, manual transmission and enough electronics to run lights and a AM/FM radio is all I want.
  188. S

Maybe a new truck Ford or Dodge?

Had an EGR fail…was not fun.
  189. S

    climbing saw

Can of worms. Small Stihl saws have narrower chains and cut faster. Larger Stihl saws have more power and cut faster. There’s truth in there somewhere. I’d get a new 194 because you can still get it carbureted, they don’t cost much new. I haven’t seen many used ones pop up that weren’t very...
  190. S

Maybe a new truck Ford or Dodge?

10 trucks in 13 years? That is a lot.
  191. S

Maybe a new truck Ford or Dodge?

That was the worst engine ever put in a vehicle.

NEED help !!!! Snow Thrower / Blower

I’m no help but sure hope you can get one this time of year in less than two weeks.
  193. S

Real questions that you would like to get an answer…

Having lived through so many bans/scares/panics I'd figure out what you think you use in a year, add 10% and multiply that by four years. So if you use 50 rounds a year, that's ~220 rounds.
  194. S

Real questions that you would like to get an answer…

Maybe you should define home defense for us. You’re talking break-ins or mostly peaceful protests?
  195. S

Real questions that you would like to get an answer…

Which one will you use? For the shotgun loaded with a sidesaddle is probably the minimum. Pistol loaded mag with spare, or loaded with spare speed loader. Rifle, very hard question as we don’t know what rifle.

    Off-Season Plans

Need to replace some dust covers on tie rods. Lots of normal maint I saved up for winter. Big truck needs the tangled mess of wires that make the lights work cleaned up and probably LED upgrades since I'm at it. Need to rebuild a Stihl Kombi. Have a few welding projects I need to get to now...
