    Retaining walls and patio

Big big job messing with those 'Reddi Blocks'. I think I posted a thread on this project a few years back. Tore out a very old railroad tie bulkhead (not built to code) and neighbor had these blocks installed. Just the engineering was serious $$$...

    My Lumber and Plywood Cart

I made the mistake of using pneumatic tires instead of solid wheels. HF brand to make it worse. Need to swap out once I unload the dang cart so I can move it to an area in my shop where I can work on it. Another of those projects that have been on the list for too long.

Yes, he is well known around these parts! Lot's of hikers/climbers get referred to him by places like REI Co-op. Don't know if you know REI but they are legendary outdoors equipment store that originated in Seattle back in the 1930s. I buy my boots and shoes there... great quality and service.

Why do we keep driving to far away stores that are understocked, understaffed and don't care?

Time for you to get out of Cali. A long shared driveway with a few good salt of the earth, retired neighbors will do you good. I mow their lawns and maintain some of their mechanicals and they stay on guard! (y)

Why do we keep driving to far away stores that are understocked, understaffed and don't care?

We have a local chain store for misc fasteners and other high quality consumables. Tacoma Screw. One of the few local hardware stores I will miss if they go bye bye. Another... McLendon's is pretty good, just a little farther to go. I know this doesn't help others not in the Puget Sound area...

Anyone else have an unusually large number of hummingbirds this year?

Keep your feeders clean and with fresh nectar. This time of year the bees and other bugs are looking to easy places to feed and bed down. My hummers seem to yield to the other bugs if I let it go 'stale'.

Yep... year around here. Now I am in the market for a new feeder. Had one break (my fault put too hot of water in the glass), the other nice glass feeder is suffering from UV exposure. The plastic flowers are falling apart allowing bees to get in. Down to my plastic container one that is a...

Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Depends on how hard you work them. If I lean on an HF grinder, I can burn it up unlike a superior brand. I do like the cheap HF grinders, currently have 4 or 5 because I am lazy and don't like swapping out discs. I am easy on them though so they last. Oh and open up the gear box and replace...

    Burning Wood at Night.

I burn a couple times a year... spring and fall. I cover the pile over winter. Burn ban stops the action in the summer. Leaves... absolutely not. Perfect compost. But sticks, stumps, other wood stuff and even old pallets... respects given!
  175. dragoneggs

Anyone else have an unusually large number of hummingbirds this year?

Yeah my neighbor keeps it going all winter. I hibernate. 😂 I guess I should keep the action going. In the 35 years (and parents before that) I have not put out the feeder but a few times during the winter. But I have had hummers on a snow covered feeder before!
