Diverter valve Vs. True third function

On an open center hydraulic machine like a CUT you generally can only get 1 function to work at a time. The exception to this would be lift & curl on the loader as they have some special plumbing in the valve block. If you want to use a red function, lift the 3 or or something, things get slow...

I've got the 2" & 1" versions of Amazon.com. Basically a seatbelt like retractor built into a normal ratchet strap. Been pretty happy with them. The ratchet only goes 90 degrees instead of the normal 180. Straps are a little shorter, but that's fine for my uses. They also have clips on the...

More likely they are relying on the battery to buffer the PWM output from the controller. You can run a car without a battery, at least older ones. The newer Fords do have a checklist built into the infotainment systems. It activates when you plug in a new trailer. I'm not sure if there is an option to check ball size though. I skipped over it the last few times, so checklists are only good if you use them.

The 40 & 60 series all have weak front wheel bearings. It's not the end of the world. Keep an eye out for oil leaks & get em fixed if they leak. Everything has issues, Kubota has good parts & support.

Ford 5000 power steering leak. Could the choice of fluid be to blame?

Ya, worn out seals. The worst oil you can get in the store today is probably better than the best you could get in the 50s. Lots of modern heavy equipment specifies engine oil rather than a hydraulic oil for hydraulics. ATF is just hydraulic fluid with red dye & probably friction modifiers...

Stump bucket for 60hp tractor - what length, type is best?

At 4,500lbs your not going to be doing that much with a stump bucket. Not nearly enough traction to dig into dirt, much less a stump or roots. Flail Mower Considering Betstco Flail cutter/mower

A flail has a couple more bearings & belts than a rotary which eat a bit of HP. A bit more drag on a roller than a tail wheel I expect. Flails mulch a lot more, so cut each blade of grass multiple times, which takes more HP. So a flail will take more HP than a similar width rotary. Not a huge...

How Much Flail Mower for 38-Horse Kubota?

Leakdown overnight is either a valve issue or blows gland seals. You can figure out if it's gland seals by hydraulic fluid coming out. If you remove the piston seals & cap off lines, a cylinder will not leak down. The cylinder has a fixed volume & you can't shove more rod into that volume...

Replacing L6060 OEM lights with LEDs

My light bars are overkill. To much effort to weld up heavier brackets & put in a new fuse panel with all the wiring. The time i do something similar some pods are going in with stock brackets & wiring.

What to watch out for on a 1950s John Deere crawler/loader?

I've been reading through their archives for a few months now. Definitely the TBN equivalent for old JD tracked machines. I'll definitely get it back up & running soon. All the internals are fine. Just relatively easy to access electrical stuff. Not hard to figure out with maybe a dozen wires...

What to watch out for on a 1950s John Deere crawler/loader?

Carb rebuild got it running again. Could have used a bit more tuning, but it ran pretty decent. Busted out the new hot pressure washer & cleaned all the machines & cars off. As I half expected, that killed it again. Pulled the cap & rotor. Cleaned them up with some emmery paper as they were...

    New L2501 advice needed

I had similar thoughts when I got my first machine a decade ago. Modular & infinitely swappable sounds cool & useful. But optimized tooling is the standard because it just works better. These days I just use the mower, box blade or LPGS as ballast & dont wory about it. My old L3200 was a light...

    New L2501 advice needed

Found photos of the plow & moving a flail around. Also found pictures of a 3pt forklift I forgot about. Got it cheap off Craigslist. It was heavy & ate up most if my 3pt capacity without anything on the forks. I sold it as I didn't want to break my 3pt. It would lift far more than my 3pt would...

    New L2501 advice needed

I built a SSQA to 3pt adapter. But the reverse of what you are talking about. It let's me mount 3pt impliments to the loader. It was originally a mounting bracket for a snow plow. I just welded a Quick Hitch to a SSQA plate. It worked well for moving impliments at times. So after I sold the plow...

    New L2501 advice needed

Fuel usage & speed too. Roading my tractor with vs without an impliment cuts my max speed on a particular hill from a little over 7mph to under 6. 1,000lbs or so on a 40mph machine that is in the 6k range with loader & loaded tires is noticeable at times. I wouldn't run without loaded tires...

Ballpark you should be shooting for about the same weight on the 3pt as you are lifting with the loader. For an economy L that would be a little over 1,000lbs. 1,500lbs on my Grand L.

Tractor Attachments And Skid Steer Attachments For Any Tractor Or Skid Steer is a TBN sponsor. They make good impliments & ship. They also have great demo videos that you can learn a lot from. They talk about impliment design, build quality & how to use them. LandPride is good & now owned by...

    L3800 adding a remote?

    New L2501 advice needed

True. But a 72" wide box blade that weighs 1,000lbs will be stronger than a 72" wide back blade that weighs 1,000lbs. You also really aren't going to find a back blade small enough for a L2501 that is really heavy duty, unlike bigger ones for bigger tractors. They probably exist, but aren't...

    New L2501 advice needed

A ballast box is just a heavy thing on your 3pt hitch. A box blade is heavy. Generally they will ge around the same weight. A ballast box is thin steel you fill with dirt, a box blade is heavy steel with no way to fill it with anything. Some people do strap logs or heavy steel bars ontop of a...

    Automating the Quick Attach (SSQA)

Linear actuators have limit switches internally. If you leave the switch in either position it will just extend or contract all the way, then turn off. Thats how I had my first power SSQA wired & it worked fine. I think I had a 10@ breaker for a 15@ actuator. That way it tripped if the actuator...

    Automating the Quick Attach (SSQA)

The engineering & weight for a purely mechanic system would be prohibitive. SSQA levers have to transmit upwards of 100lbs of force each & move a foot & a half. Trying to move 2 at the same time, you are looking at moving a lever 3' and either 100 or 200lbs of force. Trying to get all of that...

Do front skid steer attachments work for tractor front end?

"Rated to 2250". Most tractors run about 2,500psi & skid steers hit 3k. You probably want to avoid that one. Also the offset mount on mine looks funky & wrong. But it means you can see it from the cab instead of it being hidden behind the hood. You have enough problems bumping the machine...

Do front skid steer attachments work for tractor front end?

I have a Danhuser hydraulic PHD. At best a tractor under 60hp has around 15hp on tap via hydraulics. A 3pt has an easy 30hp or more, depending on HP & sheer pins. My old L3200 put a lot more power into the 3pt PHD than my new L4060 into the hydraulic SSQA. But I now have reverse & down pressure...

What to watch out for on a 1950s John Deere crawler/loader?

Mine ran great for an hour. Then it died, gas started pouring out of the carb. Waiting for the carb rebuild kit to show up, but have the carb fully disassembled & cleaned. Foat needle didn't look to be in good shape. Tore a gasket pulling it apart. Kind of what I was expecting with an antique.

    Hydraulic Top Link for L6060

If you have crappy valves, you TnT cylinders will drift. Having gone through 7ish OEM Kubota valves, I've only found 1 that doesnt suck. I gave up & had the deaer put a DPOV on my side link & the one good valve on my toplink. I love float on the toplink & wouldnt give that up. A DPOV breaks...

    Automating the Quick Attach (SSQA)

PSI (2,500ish for tractors) times square inches of piston surface = force. For a 2" bore cylinder thats 4 square inches & 10,000lbs of force. I've got a 1" bore cylinder with a 5/8" rod for my build. 0.785 square inches & just under 2,000lbs of force. I got the small cylinder to minimize the...

    Grease around fittings. . .

I picked up a use Mi-T-M HSP-3003-3MGH | Gasoline | Direct Drive | Mi-T-M off Craigslist this weekend. It has Honda gas engine that does 3,000ps at 3gpm. A hair more volume, but about what you get for a standard cheap home gamer gas pressure washer. Bigger commercial ones will hit 4,000psi, but...

    Hydraulic Top Link for L6060

Same. Fitrite on my old L3200 worked great. OEM TnT on my new L4060hstc took 6 months & 3 tries. None fit well, most leaked, some in cups per minute. Finally got my money back & waited for Fitrite. Took a while as expected but fit perfectly. One of the cylinders developed a pinhole a few years...

    Self-leveling loader availability

Kubota Grand Ls have a hydraulic self-leveling option. Not completely sure how it works, presumably some sensors & an actuator that manipulates the curl valve based on sensor input. A pretty expensive option if I recall. No mechanical self leveling option on the Ls though. May be on the Ms, I'd...

Will cutting brass with steel cause a spark?

That was my process. Chopped up an old propane can to make a forge. Ratchet straped the tank to a trailer then used a big wrench to pull the valve. Fill with water to displace anything flammable. Cut it up with a grinder after it mostly dried off.
