Only if you disregard the manufactures guidance on fueling. They all say that you should let the engine cool before adding fuel. That where you ice filled cooler comes in. Put the battery in the cooler for 10 minutes and it will be cooled down enough to put on the charger. Richard

That fuel could be the problem. Is that the 100LL octane fuel ? Some lower compression engines will not run with that fuel. Richard

As someone suggested, you could have a bad battery. Take it out and go to a auto parts place and have them check it.

Assuming that your battery is the standard 12V wet cell, a proper working alternator or generator should be putting about 14.5 volts into the battery, measured at the battery, with the engine running at a fast idle or just above idle. Richard

Can you post a photo of the solenoid. You are on the right track, it sounds like the pull-in coil is not doing it's job. Is the solenoid a two or three wire ? Make some ohm measurements of the coils to ground. I don't know what the readings should be, but definitely not open. Richard

Are you sure that is is misfiring? It would be strange that it would run good under load but not when the engine is not loaded. Are you confusing engine looping, i.e. engine speeding up and down with no input from the throttle? What engine do you have? Richard

Actually you don't need a new cable. If the cable is long enough, you can just clip off the terminal back about 1/4" from the melted area and put on a new connector. Unless you you have the proper crimping tools, I suggest that you solder the new terminal on to the cable. Richard

With the power connector to the clutch coil disconnected, check the coil to ground resistance. It should be in the millions of ohms. If it is shorted to ground, it will cause excessive current flow. Richard

Sounds like flooding to me. The typical way to clear a flooded engine is to crank the engine with the throttle wide open. Next time this happens, crank the engine for a few moments, then pull the plugs, look and see if they are loaded up with fuel. Richard

The sudden engine stop may have caused the cam timing to jump a tooth or two. I'm not failure with the 8N, but if it has a timing chain, it could be worn out and needs replacing.

The guy in the video was taking a saw apart. I agree that you have to be careful when assembling stuff, but even then, using a power tool to run down the bolts and nuts with a low torque setting is just fine. The final torquing should aways done by hand.

Look at the manual, there are instructions on how to adjust the shifter. One thing you might want to check is this nut holding the shift rod to the shift lever, make sure it is tight: See the circled bolt. Here are the instructions for adjusting the shift linkage from the manual:

i don't know, but you said that it ran when using a gravity fuel supply. How long did you run it with the gravity fuel supply ? Long enough to get the engine hot ? Richard

There should be a bracket that comes down on both sides of the engine pully. This bracket keeps the belt from grabbing the pully when you have the clutch pedal depressed. It is item 66 in this parts photo. If this is not in place, you will experience the problems you are having.

You may also want to check the head for flatness. Use a heavy glass sheet, clean the head gasket surface and then put the head on the glass. Use a feeler gauge to check for any high spots on the head. Using an inspection light will also work. If the mating surface of the head is not flat, put...

I think your assumption is correct. If you can figure out which wires that go to the solenoid are for the hold coil. put some push pins into to the wire, connect a volte meter to them after the engine stops. Don't do anything else, just measure the volts. If no voltage across the hold coil...
