    Only if you disregard the manufactures guidance on fueling. They all say that you should let the engine cool before adding fuel. That where you ice filled cooler comes in. Put the battery in the cooler for 10 minutes and it will be cooled down enough to put on the charger. Richard

    Assuming that your battery is the standard 12V wet cell, a proper working alternator or generator should be putting about 14.5 volts into the battery, measured at the battery, with the engine running at a fast idle or just above idle. Richard

    Can you post a photo of the solenoid. You are on the right track, it sounds like the pull-in coil is not doing it's job. Is the solenoid a two or three wire ? Make some ohm measurements of the coils to ground. I don't know what the readings should be, but definitely not open. Richard

    Actually you don't need a new cable. If the cable is long enough, you can just clip off the terminal back about 1/4" from the melted area and put on a new connector. Unless you you have the proper crimping tools, I suggest that you solder the new terminal on to the cable. Richard

    Sounds like flooding to me. The typical way to clear a flooded engine is to crank the engine with the throttle wide open. Next time this happens, crank the engine for a few moments, then pull the plugs, look and see if they are loaded up with fuel. Richard
