JD 1050 - LABOR COST for cleaning and reinstalling injectors?

Thank you, I am learning a lot through the thoughtful suggestions I receive. Contacting the extension service and farm bureau is a great idea and I will add it to list of possible resources also for future reference. I found out that my tractor requires a specialized puller to remove the...

JD 1050 - LABOR COST for cleaning and reinstalling injectors?

Indeed, when I bought my first car in the '70s windshield wipers used to last a lifetime. Then they got worse but at least you could just change the blade (a pain in the butt but manageable). Now they last maybe a season and you have to throw away the whole thing and buy new ones. What a waste...

JD 1050 - LABOR COST for cleaning and reinstalling injectors?

Thank you very much for the advice. The injectors are right on top and by looking at the service manual it is a very easy job (for someone who knows how to do it). I found out that it requires a puller at the cost of $100. That is nothing compared to the $1,000 (one thousand) PER INJECTOR =...

JD 1050 - LABOR COST for cleaning and reinstalling injectors?

Excellent advice, I will follow your suggestions. Thank you very much. I am not a spring chicken myself and I thought that my preference for older, skilled people and old equipment was just because I can't keep up.

JD 1050 - LABOR COST for cleaning and reinstalling injectors?

Of course it is, that's the kind of money you would expect to pay in Manhattan not in Western rural Massachusetts.

JD 1050 - LABOR COST for cleaning and reinstalling injectors?

Thank you very much for your suggestions and the tips. I will have the job done by someone who knows what he is doing because, as another member mentioned, a injector puller tool is required for this kind of job and I don't want to screw it up. I appreciate your taking the time to send those links.

JD 1050 - LABOR COST for cleaning and reinstalling injectors?

Thank you very much. There is a Yanmar dealer not too far from here but they insist they only service brands they sell and since my tractor is a JD they won't touch it. I know, it sounds nuts. Go figure. I will call around to see if other tractor service shops in the area can do the job...

JD 1050 - LABOR COST for cleaning and reinstalling injectors?

Thank you. The injectors are right on top of the engine and it does look like an easy job in the tech/repair manual.

JD 1050 - LABOR COST for cleaning and reinstalling injectors?

Thank you for confirming that. Do you have any idea how many hours it would take to replace the injectors?

JD 1050 - LABOR COST for cleaning and reinstalling injectors?

In my previous answer I should have clarified that there was some kind of debris that ended up in the fuel pump and ruined it. When they cleaned the tank the dealer said they found algaes and specs of dirt. From what I understand, the foreman decided to clean up also the injectors, but it is not...

JD 1050 - LABOR COST for cleaning and reinstalling injectors?

Thank you, the situation is easier and more complicated. I simply suspect a mega scam by the JD dealer who took it in and now wants to skin me alive. He was supposed to replace the fuel pump and clean up the fuel tank and lines. I provided the part. A month and a half later ("we are backed up")...

JD 1050 - LABOR COST for cleaning and reinstalling injectors?

I have a JD 1050 (I believe it is 20 + years old) with a 3-cylincer Yanmar engine. The JD dealer replace the fuel injector pump (that I bought) and now wants to 'clean' the injectors. The estimate he game me seems way too high. Does anyone know how many hours it would take to install the three...

JD 1050 major spill of motor oil

I will check the service manual. I just got a new copy after the guy who came to my house to service my tractor 6 months ago stole the original.

JD 1050 major spill of motor oil

Thank you, most likely I will need an expert to look into it. I dont' have enough experience for this level of complexity but I will do what I can to try to eliminate some of the possible causes. Your insight was very helpful.

JD 1050 major spill of motor oil

Thank you. The hydraulic fluid tank is full so I would exclude that. I need to find out about diesel and injectors. Thanks again.

JD 1050 major spill of motor oil

To make it quick: I saw burned motor oil spraying out of an overflow rubber tube coming from the area of the fuel injectors. I turned it off and wanted to check the oil level. As soon as I took off the cap, the oil came out like tilting a gallon jug on the side at once, a jet 3-4 inch long and...

JD 1050 bucket won't stay flat on the ground when loading sand or snow

Thank you for the suggestion. I will start there. There seems to be a consensus that it's where the problem is. For me the question now is, will I be able to fix it myself?

JD 1050 bucket won't stay flat on the ground when loading sand or snow

BOTH, the bucket, and when the bucket reaches the maximum up point, then the loader begins to lift as well. Pretty bad, isn't it?

JD 1050 problem with bucket - doesn't stay firm, flips up

Thank you for the advice. Right now back-dragging with the bucket curled down is the only way I can get any kind of action moving loose material, dirt, sand, snow, anything. I hope I didn't bend the cylinders.

JD 1050 problem with 'dangling' bucket (won't stay firm)

I haven't had a chance yet. I use the tractor part time and it has been so cold that I didn't want to risk freezing my fingers. Plus, I am nervous about trying something like this: I need to learn and understand as much as possible before I take the plunge. But thank you for checking back.

JD 1050 problem with 'dangling' bucket (won't stay firm)

Thank you for the suggestion. It is possible I am not doing it right, although the problem is so consistent, in all situations, that most likely at some point I must have done the correct operation, but the result is always the same. The bucket doesn't stay firm in place. The only time when it...

JD 1050 problem with 'dangling' bucket (won't stay firm)

I bought it with this problem - I didn't test it properly and didn't expect this kind of issue. When I curl the bucket down all the way, the very last inch or so of the run is a bit slower, so, yes, probably it takes a couple of seconds. Once it is in that position it is locked. By pushing down...

JD 1050 problem with bucket - doesn't stay firm, flips up

Thank you. I will start there. I hope the problem is limited to the seal and the cylinder is not bent and doesn't require rebuilding/replacing. Somone replied that curling the bucket all the way down and scraping the ground puts a lot of pressure on the system and can damage it. I will try avoid...

JD 1050 problem with bucket - doesn't stay firm, flips up

Thank you. I read the entire post and replies and I think my problem is different, although it also involves the functioning of the bucket and loader. I learned a lot, especially about regen valves (I had no idea that their purpose was.)

JD 1050 problem with bucket - doesn't stay firm, flips up

Symptom 1: with the bucket flat down, 1 inch from the ground, if i try to get under a pile of snow or sand, the bucket will start lifting upward. I cannot get it to stay flat. Symptom 2: let's say I raise the loader half way and I flip the bucket downward all the way. The goal is to 'cut' a...

JD 1050 Hydraulics, bucket won't stay flat on the ground when loading sand or snow

When I try to grab a pile of sand or snow I put the bucket down an inch above ground, but as I move forward, the bucket begins to tilt upwards and doesn't pick up anything. 2) If i lift the loader all the way up, and then turn the bucket to unload, the buckets dangles instead of being firm...

Buying Advice  1979 Yanmar 1500D: service in Southern VERMONT? (also, is it a good machine?)

Thank you all for your patience, I am new to this forum and new to the whole experience. I was offered to buy a 1979 Yanmar 1500D. I wonder if it is difficult to get it serviced in southern Vermont (border with Mass). Also, I read glowing reviews about these tractors, but I wanted to make sure...

Service in VT for a Yanmar (haven't bought it yet)

"Gentleman" farmer here: this would be my first REAL tractor. I located a solid 1979 Yanmar 1500D at a good price. I cannot find info on dealers or specialized mechanics who could serve it here in Vermont. I will use the tractor mostly for light work, snow removal, clearing brush, mowing...
