400 hr. Hydro Oil Change Advice???

Good point! Had not looked at it from that angle. I also like the idea of oil sample testing, thanks guys. There is another Kubota dealer in the area, will price oil and filter from them, with any luck, they will be cheaper. They are a little further away, but not too far to go get parts/oil.

Thanks for that link. Do you happen to have one for blackstone? Seriously looking at doing oil analysis.

400 hr. Hydro Oil Change Advice???

My manual only calls for 50 hour hydro change on HST models. DT shuttle shift first change is at 400 hrs. My thought was change the filter at 400, then filter and oil at 800 or sooner if I noticed oil getting dark. Again I don't want to do damage, but nearly $600 for an oil change is...

400 hr. Hydro Oil Change Advice???

Hydro has never gotten hot. Tractor seldom gets more than an hour of work at any given instance. Hand testing line and actuators, warm after use but nowhere near hot, let alone overheated.

400 hr. Hydro Oil Change Advice???

The Super UDT in my L4701DT (shuttle shift) looks like brand new. Can I just replace the filter and what oil is lost with that, rather than all 10 gallons of liquid gold super UDT2 without damaging anything? Retired on fixed income. SuperUDT2 is crazy expensive for 10 gallons. ($235+ for 5...

    Log splitter hydraulics question

I have a 17-year-old Huskee 22-ton log splitter. Control valve broke at handle connection to valve body. Have ordered replacement control valve. My question is do I need to bleed air from system after installing new valve, and if so, how?

    Oil Change intervals?

I agree. When I posted the question, I knew there would be a lot of anecdotal input. It was a moment of weakness, sorry. Consider it a rhetorical question if you will. I had pretty much decided to change the oil and filter as soon as it warmed up. Positively hate laying on snow wet ground to...

    Oil Change intervals?

Yes, but an unheated garage. Our winters do not compare to Ontario. It gets cold here, even down to zero Fahrenheit, but does not last more than a couple of days then warms back to near or above freezing. Really cold days I put a work light with (don't tell Joe Biden or his EPA cronies) an...

    Oil Change intervals?

My L4701 just went over 200 hrs. Did the initial 50 hr. oil and filter change. I used premium oil and Kubota filter. The owner's manual says to change oil every 400 hrs. It has been 15 months since the original 50 hr. oil change. Oil still looks okay, darker, but not coal black from soot...

    LS 3032 DPF Delete

I feel your pain brother. I had tried to repair the system, clean the dpf, ect. Nothing was going to work except to replace and reset the entire DPF according to local LS dealer. Did not have $12,000 + to put into a badly designed system only to have it possibly fail again in three years...

Non Traditional Projects (What have you done with your tractor?)

I use the hooks on my bucket and a tie-down strap as a lift to raise the front of my riding mower to change blades/sharpen them, replace broken spindles ect. Way easier than disco-ing the deck. Used a chain the first time, but ended up putting scratches on the motor cowling where it rubbed.

    sawmill platform? What to use?

My suggestion, and what worked for me. First, find an area that is clear and relatively level that you can easily access from all sides. In my case I had to create such a space, Lots of smaller trees and sloping ground. I terraced the slope using good quality rail ties. Then back filled with...

    Coolant evaporating

I had a similar problem on my new L4701. Took nearly three months of searching and adding coolant to overflow tank. Finally found a very slight vapor only leak at the water pump to radiator hose clamp. Being the lazy mechanic, (translates to "don't fix what aint broke") I got out my nut driver...

    Tree cutting accident

Not trying to tell you what to do, or wear in this case. If not using safety stuff works better for you, so be it. I agree, some folks get so carried away with safety they become dangerous to be around. Must be different where you are. Here if I need firewood, I have to cut and buck the...

    Tree cutting accident

Lots of folks don't wear seat belts either. When I was young and thought I was indestructible, I was like you. After a near miss at cutting my leg on a downed tree limb that was under tension (saw cut my double layered logging jeans, long johns, and left minor cuts along top of thigh) and one...

    My LS 3038G

On my old XG3032 the clutch safety switch wiring on left side under flooring would get snagged by brush. First time it actually broke the wiring harness connector. Had to rewire, and relocate to finally put a stop to it. Relatively easy fix to either move or eliminate the switch.

    Front-End Loader Tooth Bar

I Bought the VEVOR toothbar to fit my 713/4" inside measure bucket. They said theirs measured 711/2 inches. Did not!! Actual measure was 727/8 outside edge to outside edge. I chose to not return it, and cut and rewelded side bracket to get it to fit. In addition managed to break one of the...

    LS 3032 DPF Delete

I deleted the entire DPF system on my XG 3032----Along with the entire tractor. Was able to trade the blue malfunction junction in on a new Kubota. Took a royal beating on the trade, but got rid of my problem. Life's too short to have to constantly deal with a continual frustratingly badly...

    Regen issue XR4040H

Strange!!! My xg3031 with 1000 hrs is doing exactly the same thing. Trouble shooting, the burner/glow plug is working. Pulled pre filter sensors and both were sooty - I think the DPF is working fine - may have injector issues ie too much fuel bad spray pattern???. My local dealer is a joke -...

    LS XG3032 Regen/dpf problems

Thanks for the reply. Must be nice, regen only every 50 hrs. Mine does it every 4 hours whether it needs it or not. What a total waste of fuel. EPA is throwin' out the baby with the bath water. Wondered about pokin' holes in the soot filter screen. Just don't want to end up in permanent...

    LS XG3032 Regen/dpf problems

Thanks for the input. The regen temp lite does come on. Engine temp right about mid-gauge. Ran tractor for 1.5 hours at 2000+ RPM. Both lights stayed on. Near as I can tell engine temp is plenty hot enough. At least for past regen cycles. As for being winter, the outside temp was in the middle...

    LS XG3032 Regen/dpf problems

I have a 2016 xg3032. Dpf lite stays on all the time. Acts like it is going into regen, but never gets hot enough. Suspect burner/glow plug malf. Nearest dealer has changed hands and is now a joke. Can get parts, but have no way to know which part I need. Too expensive to guess and hope I get...

beginner novice needs a light duty welder

I have not welded in fifty years, and then only in high school auto shop. I find myself needing a light duty (110VAC preferably) electric welder for small jobs around our little farm. The other side of the coin is it MUST be cheap. We are retired and living on a small pension. Some extra...

What do you who heat with wood do with a winters' worth of wood ashes?

I burn anywhere from 5-7 cords of wood per winter. For the last four years I've been putting on the garden, and or yard. Ive got to be careful putting them on the yard. I mulch a lot of leaves with the mower, and we oft times have no snow cover, just dry cold here in the Ozarks. Grass fire...

Oil & Fuel  Less expensive filters for xg3032?

Iv'e read through all the posts here concerning filters for LS tractors. My lil blue mule is coming up on 50 hour oil and filter change. I've been a mechanic for forty years and to pay $33.00 for an oil filter is crazy. I'm not Bill Gates, or the Donald. I'm retired living on a fixed...
