I have an l3301 with a heavy 7' blade /gravel driveway in the Catskills. I lift the loader until the blade just skims the surface. Also angle is important. blade wants to be perpendicular to the surface That's what works for me

I live in your area in Bearsville. I've had pretty good luck with #4 and just back drag it. I don't due more than 1.5 to 2" thick. I find my 6' landscape rake is useful to spread the material out and then I back drag.

One thing that seems to be missing here is what do the limbs look like on these big trees? Are they hanging way out in the direction of the barn etc? The tree is going to want to fall in the direction of the most weight. Be careful here! You might need a pro who can climb the trees

I would seriously consider a landscape rake for the driveway. I use a 6 ft one on the back of my l3301 and it's been great on my 1/2 mile gravel driveway here in the Catskills

Should mention this is for a Kubota L3301. It's never on Asphalt

I want to put studs on my rear tires this winter. Looked at gripstuds(protrude 5mm) and igrips(protrude 3mm). The gripstuds are slightly more in price. Anyone have any info on which might be better on gravel roads? I am thinking the gripstuds might be slightly better as they are longer
