When I bought my machine the dealer foam filled the tires for $500. It's slightly heavier than rim guard and my tires are now airless and puncture proof in the rear. That with a box blade is pretty good ballast. I can max out my loader capacity before the rear end gets too light.

My Bobcat dealer didn't add to the price like Kioti does if you want the financing. They actually gave me a flat 10% off the whole deal. The catch was if you chose financing and wanted 6 or 7 years you had to pay $1000 up front. With the 5 year there was some minor paperwork fees.

The only time my 2040 rattles like that is when I'm going up a very steep switchback section in my backyard. It happens for about 3 seconds and smooths out as I come over the top.

After some additional research I'm going to use 4140HT rod for the pin. If I use the brass bushings I'll just through bolt the rod with nylon lock nut. If not then I'll be similar to construction equipment with bolted/welded washer on one end and pinned/bolted on the other.

You guys have been a wealth of information. This is exactly what I needed. I'm going to modify my plan a bit and make sure I order the correct ID pipe for the brass bushings. One last question, can one end of the pin free float or is it better to bolt both ends?

How would I use the bushings without a lathe? I'm struggling to visualize how this would work. I can think of one way but that would require using a larger ID tube on the ends and just inserting the bushing.

I think the real difference is the PTO horsepower and iirc that's about 3 horsepower with the HST tractors. I did go with foam filled tires vs. rim guard on mine for maximum rear ballast. I believe it adds roughly 660 pounds total to the rear.
