I didn't have to do main drive shaft (just shaft going to front axle) but GC2400 is bolt/spline type on main. IOW remove bolt and use wedge to expand joint to slip off. pretty sure will have to do this soon, 15yr old fan belt on it. and have to pull that to do belt. not sure if gc1723 is same...

well...if you smack it with back of hand and crap starts working...least you know you are on right track.

if you remove wire from sensor at engine you remove a path to ground. no more no less. possible you have a bad dash unit, hope not that's pricey.

I can say for sure when temp sensor is bad (dealing with that presently) it does not affect fuel gauge, oil pressure light, tachometer on a newer GC electronic dash series.

I do keep them running as I drive on a county often. basically they become an aim point for drivers :)

fwiw...I run very older GC unit. when my fuel gauge pisses me off I slap it. kills 2 birds 1 stone. I get to slap some **** and crap starts working :)

is it possible you left old seal on when changing filters? when testing with tiller do what you can to make sure pto shaft is straight from output to tiller to help negate any joint noise.

got 3 on mine, orbital valve with multiple shoulder/elbow issues. no matter what I got a knob I can use.

gc2400 mechanical tach the 540 mark is just over 2500rpm, I rev limit at approx 2850 +/- rpm so 680rpm is prob dead on. ug thats about 590$ for new one.

maybe what I thought was mech cable was harness then.

If I remember right (jese I was just messing with one 3 days ago you think I can remember????) rpm section of tach is mechanical, only hour meter electric. did you try with air filter and fuel cap removed yet? costs nothing takes 5 minutes. rule out airflow and tank vent issues.

as far as I know the solenoid powered by that relay is either open or shut, no in between so can't see that relay short messing with that. fact it comes up to 2K rpm leads me to think thats ok. assume the tank/line work was done due to this new problem of only hitting 2k correct? did you crack...

you talking about the fuel control solenoid? don't know of anything else that could be called the engine control relay. if so bet you got air in system.

this is front axle part of service manual for a gc2400, many things the same throughout all models so may help.

lift pump makes that noise, its normal.

first make sure rod/trunnion clean and spray lubed then with 3pt down click lift lever back while watching trunnion come against spring. when it compresses spring on back side it clicks lever from lift to neutral. when lowered it clicks from lower to neutral. you want full float on 3pt? make...

this have (like the GC24xx series) a rod on right side behind rear tire with spring blocks on each end that travels with lift arm? if spring is sticking on rod it will stop the lift on GC24xx.

yeah I got a bunch mounted to rops for fwd/side/rev/pto illumination. the stock ones really are used to light up bucket itself when off the ground in normal carry.

I did convert the stock gc2400 lights (yeah lawnmower bulbs really) to led bulbs last year, huge difference.

pretty expensive piece of plastic but its in now.

was a pain to see why.

crack in relay case can allow moisture in and fuses will blow when triggered.in my case that specific relay in this post.

you are correct. side plug is fill only. but if stuff milky may have gasket leak there or water entering the top vent plug. iirc is teflon tape on that.

you would have to have engine running to do last method listed, good way to get a lot of air into system I suspect. could be wrong, not familiar with that model. with the quality of hydro fluid you had in there I think there is a chance solenoid\valve assy got damaged.

yeah for sure check voltage, may need to have seat depressed to check though not sure if safety switch on seat would come into play.

still need to check wiring before and after solenoid. if all that happens is light on dash comes on something is not right. if I remember right with engine off and key on you should hear the solenoid click (or if possible feel it click) when switch turned on but don't quote me on that.

may want to check/trace wiring from pto switch back to pto itself. may have a broken wire making the clutch actually do nothing. do not remember where wire runs are on these units.

does the 1533 use an electric clutch like the 1532 does? on the 1532, tractor off key on pto levers (not pto switch) in N shaft will spin by hand. put the 540 lever into gear (still tractor off key on and pto switch off) shaft will not turn by hand. if like a 2010 MF1532 any electrical fault...

fwiw on 3 point link stuff kubota stuff from tractor supply works well. I converted by lift links from the massey single adjust to 2 kubota adjustable ones so I can tilt box blade/grader blade how I want and at same time change lift height both sides. total cost approx 70$.

well, I run one daily and can tell you when throttle cable sticks full open at 2800prm on a GC tractor twist the lever engine shuts down. but you be you, you are not running a GC tractor.

then you don't deal with a 3 cln iseki massey like many of us in this topic do. twist that lever it shuts off. hell sometimes getting it to fire is an issue. this is not a 2 stroke Detroit diesel.

on a dl100 yes, very easy. like 15 minutes. remounting little more time consuming. on dl95 little harder. dl100 is 7/16 socket and wrench and a ball peen hammer :)

I prob could have gotten it running off plugs but my battery is 12 yrs old. last year I replaced glow plugs (due to one dead one. was a gap in it so...yeah...dead) with aftermarket that are 1/8" shorter and 150$ cheaper so I have to run them a touch longer. when its that cold out it really is...

it takes 5 minutes to fully remove a DL100 FEL (Front End Loader) from GC series tractor. I often do it multiple times a week.

GC1705 uses DL100 FEL which is just a greaseable pin. pretty much built in slop :p

for sure cannot hurt, good time to service terminals\posts also.

truth be told I suspect an R and a non-R battery would both work in your 2300 and my 2400. + cable slack from solenoid to post would be only issue and way + cable comes up should be enough slack for either. least there is on my gc2400. newer 17xx stuff, don't remember and too cold to go look at...

looks like same setup as my 2400 (hood latches and rad/screen placement are at least) but I can easily remove battery. must be difference in the shape of the dash cowling helping me. my rops lights are external with guards, odd now new 1725m does not have the guards..

lot of changes from gc2300 to gc2400 it seems, I open hood remove standard battery hold down bar (bar-hook type) and its out.

is this a GC1725? is no steering box, just orbital valve. binding would normally be in tilt mechanism/dash plastic interfere or in tie rod ends.

generally don't deal with large angles but the adjustable lift links both sides (also kubota) combined with multiple pin holes where they hook to lift arm should give me all the play I need.I also use pats quickhitch and have enough play there to give room, not bound by the ball in lift arms...

Usually not on older GC series.... you can put a stethoscope on it from timing cover output all along cable and noise hits you on bottom side of tach where housing meets tach, thats where the "slip" clutch is. sometimes removing housing and using light shop air into backside of tach helps...

agreed. as someone that actually failed on this twice I cannot stress this section of the system enough. IIRC (been a year, still only 100hrs since last service) the 1532 I service has an actual filter I have to service, its actually easier than the little items we deal with on a GC series.

I have also heard noises when that suction intake filter is not serviced correctly, and it also (on my GC2400 and on company GC1710) only made noises when cold. took me a few to learn how to service w/o breaking.

over last few days added edge tamers to bucket and moved the 20ft trailer around ( gc2400 handles it well with no snow in it) a few times to add gorilla lift to it. once rain stops and ground freezes gonna load tractor/fel/blower onto trailer and figure best positioning. got lot of leeway on...
