Front Axle Fluid Level on BX1500

To get an accurate reading do you want to thread the dipstick all the way into the axle or just poke it in? (There is a big difference in the two readings) Thank you

Middle Buster/Potato Harvester for sub-compact Kubota

I want to thank everyone for the replies. I've decided to buy a compact middle buster and install AG tires.

Middle Buster/Potato Harvester for sub-compact Kubota

What's easier to pull - a potato plow or a potato digger? Are chains comparable to AG tires? I've heard the plow tends to cut or mangle the potatoes, what do you guys think?

Middle Buster/Potato Harvester for sub-compact Kubota

Looking for an attachment to harvest potatoes with my Kubota BX1500. It has a Category 1 Hitch and 15HP. We plant potatoes very shallow, only about an 1" below the surface in Alaska. Anybody have experience with a potato plow or 3 point digger on a subcompact? Thank you for all replies

    Kubota BX1500D Leaky Tank Barb

Wow was I suprised. I waited a week before reinstalling the fuel line and filling the tank. Then, 4 days later it's leaking from the same spot. Before I applied the 5200, I cleaned the tank with soap and water and the threads with brake clean. Luckily the fitting just screwed back out...

Thanks for the reply, I'll wait the week just since it's meant to be a permanent repair.

    Kubota BX1500D Leaky Tank Barb

I applied the 5200 last night and have the barb clamped in place. Cure time is 7 days according to the packaging. Has that been your experience? Thanks for the tip

    Kubota BX1500 - Why no fuel/water separator?

I have a Kubota BX1500. It has a lift pump and two inline plastic fuel filters. What happens if water gets in the system? Thank you

    Kubota BX1500D Leaky Tank Barb

That's a thought, what's a good thing to use that is resistant to diesel? From what I've read silicone isn't fuel rated.

    Kubota BX1500D Leaky Tank Barb

I have a BX1500D and I've noticed recently that the fuel barb coming out of the tank won't stay tight. It's leaking slightly and I feel like if I tighten the barb much more it will just spin in the hole. Any ideas on a fix? The tank is plastic, barb is metal. Thank you for reading and/or replying

BX1500 Angry When Started in Cold Weather

Tractor lives in a garage. I've tried to install both the heaters you recommend but they were pretty much impossible to get on the BX1500. Really wish I could though.

BX1500 Angry When Started in Cold Weather

I couldn't find any Rotella T6 in town but I got some Mobil 1 5W-40 Heavy Duty Diesel oil. Going to try that. Running SUDT2 in the HST.

BX1500 Angry When Started in Cold Weather

I have owned a BX1500 for a few years here in Alaska. During the winter I warm the engine with a torpedo heater for about 30 minutes before start and this usually results in the engine starting like it would on a summer day. This year however it is colder than usual, already well below zero...

    BX1500 HST Leak

When I called the dealer in Anchorage he recommended a Chevron product, but I could never find it locally. I live on the Kenai Peninsula and we have a mild summer and long, cold winter. I don't think Kubota is very popular here. Bought my tractor with my house and it's been great for light...

    BX1500 HST Leak

Thanks for the reassurance on using an off the shelf dye. I can't buy any kind of Kubota HST fluid in Alaska. I order SUDT2 from a guy on eBay who lives in the lower 48, haven't found another way to get it.

    BX1500 HST Leak

I tend to agree, except the only way I can get UDT fluid is one seller on eBay. Nobody in Alaska sells it.

    BX1500 HST Leak

Useful tip, but my machine has a dipstick and no sight glass. Hopefully someone will chime in about a UV dye. Thank you.

    BX1500 HST Leak

I've been trying the cardboard method for a couple years now (that's how slow). It seems to be from the Hydraulic filter, which I have changed twice since the leaking began. I also replaced the o-ring/washer on the drain plug.

BX1500D leaks HST oil when hitch is raised

I found the diagram for the LA181 loader that was available for the BX1500. It shows two o-rings behinds the add-on valve. I will order those. Thanks for all the help!

BX1500D leaks HST oil when hitch is raised

There were no seals or gaskets to be found. There is no groove for an o-ring either. The closest thing I can find to relevant information is this brush hog hydraulic kit for the BX series. The red line points to a valve that looks identical to the one I removed today. It shows 2 o-rings on...

BX1500D leaks HST oil when hitch is raised

Hello, I blew everything off with an air compressor to get a better view of the area. When the 3PH lever is raised to max, oil leaks from behind the plate shown in the diagram. In my case there is a hydraulic valve installed where the plate goes. This valve controls a cylinder at the front...

BX1500D leaks HST oil when hitch is raised

I can't see the leak coming from part 080, more like it weeps from above in the path outlined by the red line. I'm going to take it apart tomorrow to try and find the issue. I will have a camera with me. Thank you very much for your help so far. Just to be clear it only leaks when I'm...

BX1500D leaks HST oil when hitch is raised

Hello the diagram is labelled J40500 CONTROL VALVE in the parts diagram. Looks to me like the o-rings (parts 020 and 030) in the diagram are positioned between the control valve body and the transmission.

Hello and Thank You for the replies When I raise the hitch all the way up oil comes from the area in the diagram. When running the PTO, transmission etc no oil leaks from anywhere. Thank you again

BX1500D leaks HST oil when hitch is raised

Howdy, Have a BX1500D with 280 hours. Today I noticed it dripping HST oil on the ground. Put the rear on jacks and took off the rear left wheel. With the motor running, I observed that when the hitch is raised fluid leaks from around the pump body. The transmission and PTO work fine...
