    Tractor Horsepower for Chipper/Shredder

Thanks for the replies. The drive shaft does have a sheer bolt. I was wrong about the manufacturer's upper hp limit. It's actually 35 not 30. When I contacted the manufacturer they said I should use their heavier duty chipper/shredder. After thinking about it though I couldn't come up with...

    Tractor Horsepower for Chipper/Shredder

I'm looking to purchase a used chipper/shredder that has a maximum tractor engine horsepower rating of 30. My compact tractor has a 40 hp engine. I can see the need for a minimum horsepower rating but don't understand why exceeding the maximum would be a problem. What problem would there be...

    Bobcat compact tractor attachments

I recently purchased a Bobcat CT2040 tractor and have on order a 3-point quick disconnect, 72" box blade and 84" angle blade. The dealer has no clue when I will receive the attachments. How long are you waiting for ordered attachments"

Loader lowering and curling at the same time?

I tried what Stan B suggested and it works the way he stated. Thanks Stan B! I just need to get use to controls on this tractor.

Loader lowering and curling at the same time?

I'll give that a try. The tractor is new to me and I was only using it a short time yesterday.

Loader lowering and curling at the same time?

I don't know if this describes it correctly but the loader on my new Bobcat CT2040 doesn't lower and curl at the same time. I'm certain my previous John Deere 855 did. Aren't all compact tractors capable of this? If not and mine isn't capable of it is there some way of retrofitting this feature?

    Shows featuring compact tractors?

NW Arizona - I believe most if not all of the shows are in the Midwest or further east. We will be traveling to Illinois in a few months and was hoping to attend a show along the way. It would be fun to see a good assortment of compact tractors in one location. I've yet to see anything...

    5' or 6' Box Blade

I ended up getting the 6' box blade and 7' angle blade. I would've got the 8' angle blade but the suggestion of checking my door width made the decision on the angle blade width for me. The wider blade would've been a tight fit.
  10. B

    7' or 8' Angle Blade

EA's additional shipping charge was $200, which is reasonable but at the end of the day I decided to support my local dealer and ordered the angle blade from Bobcat. It has most if not all of the EA features and the delivered cost is about the same. Hopefully I made the right decision.
  11. B

    7' or 8' Angle Blade

Hopefully you're correct about the extra shipping charges. I'm only a little further west outside of their free shipping. Having bolt-on sides would be a real benefit. I'll ask about them after they get back to me on the extra shipping charges. This blade should work out great for me...

    7' or 8' Angle Blade

I see now how the blade is able to accomplish the side to side offset. Nice blade and at an attractive price. I've asked about shipping to my location, which is outside of their free shipping area.
  13. B

    7' or 8' Angle Blade

Are you referring to the hydraulic version. In either case I don't see that it offsets to one side or the other.

    Reasons for voiding factory warranty?

Install of foam tire ballasts or rear hydraulic remote /3rd function kit(s)?
  15. B

    Reasons for voiding factory warranty?

The Owner's Manual for my new Bobcat CT2040 tractor states that using foam tire ballasts will void the factory warranty. I don't quite know the logic behind that but will an owner install of a Bobcat rear hydraulic remote kit or 3rd function kit have similar consequences?

    7' or 8' Angle Blade

I posted a question about which size box blade is appropriate for my Bobcat CT2040. The same is being asked here regarding an angle blade. The 7' blade will just cover my outside wheel width of 62" when fully angled but will be a little short if the Bobcat is replaced with another tractor...

    5' or 6' Box Blade

    5' or 6' Box Blade

My Bobcat CT2040 has a rear wheel width, outside to outside of 62". I may get a different tractor that has a width of 68". Is there any downside to getting a 6' box blade for either tractor?

    Bobcat vs. Kioti Maintenance

Following is the question raised with Bobcat and their response if you call it one. The Operations and Maintenance Manual is not consistent with your Maintenance Service Kits. The Manual doesn't show the oil and filter to be replaced until 400 hrs yet the Service Kits are at 50 hrs, 100 hrs...

    Bobcat vs. Kioti Maintenance

Adding to the confusion, Bobcat's 50 hr maintenance kit shows replacement of the oil filter and again at 100 hrs and 200 hrs. The manual doesn't show it being replaced until 400 hrs.
  22. B

    Bobcat vs. Kioti Maintenance

Here is a link to another YouTube video showing a Kioti CK3510 50 hr service. Here is a link showing the Bobcat Maintenance Schedule for their compact tractors. Maintenance Schedules - Bobcat Company Again, the differences are puzzling considering the engines are supposedly the same.
  23. B

    Bobcat vs. Kioti Maintenance

Recall at one time manufacturers requiring the oil shipped with their engines to remain for a period of time for break-in purposes. Maybe this is what Bobcat has in mind with their recommendations. It still doesn't explain the differences between Bobcat and Kioti since its supposedly the same...

    Bobcat vs. Kioti Maintenance

I don't have a Kioti Operation and Maintenance Manual but apparently there are substantial differences in the maintenance intervals between Kioti and Bobcat compact tractors. According to someone on YouTube the following items are addressed at 50 hrs of operation. Replace Engine Oil and Filter...

    Ballast weight options for CT2025

Something doesn't sound right. The Rim Guard website shows a typical retail price for their product at about $0.28 per lb. $1/lb. is way over priced - jeez that's about $11/gallon. How about windshield washer fluid or one of its variants?

Trading in an almost new tractor?

Larger doesn't necessarily translate into something more powerful, at least that's what I experienced with my smaller but more robust former John Deere tractor. I mistakenly assumed more hp even on a heavier tractor would end up being more powerful. Unfortunately I was wrong.
  28. B

    Ballast weight options for CT2025

I wondered the same thing. Bobcat and Kioti wheels don't have the holes in them to mount wheel weights. Maybe the higher cost for this type of ballast prompted their elimination. According to Good Works Tractors the least costly approach is liquid ballast. One bit of info. that I just...

Trading in an almost new tractor?

Still being somewhat unhappy with my new Bobcat 2040 purchase I may trade it in for a new John Deere in the next couple of weeks. How much can I expect to lose on the deal?
  32. B

    CT2035 pricing

That's basically the same price I was charged for my CT2040 paying cash. After the dealer applied their stupid fees my free loader ended up being about the same as your discount. So, I suspect the dealer is getting the free loader from Bobcat and passing along some of the discount to you.

Thanks Midniteoyl! Actually, seeing your video in advance helped me find the oil fill cap. It still wasn't that easy to find though. The other content in the video was very helpful. Good job on it.
  35. B

Where is the oil filler cap?

Yes, that's the only one (I know of) on the engine. The wires in front of the cap are tightly packed in front of it so pushing them aside is difficult. Relocating them is beyond something I care to do, especially considering it's a new tractor. I now find it laughable the claims made by...

Where is the oil filler cap?

Continuing with the love affair with my new Bobcat CT2040 I thought the challenge of finding its oil filler cap would be interesting. Hint - It's not shown in the 2nd photo on top of the valve cover where it would've been easiest to access had the hood been better designed.

Compact tractor for grading long and steep driveway?

Again, I haven't graded with anything yet. But will eventually with my 60" box blade, 72" angle blade or 60" land plane. These are what I used with my previous tractor.

Compact tractor for grading long and steep driveway?

Haven't tried to pull anything with this tractor yet. It barely carries it's own weight up a hill.
  42. B

Compact tractor for grading long and steep driveway?

It bogs down to a standstill in high gear, moves along but struggles in mid gear and is excruciating slow in low. Performance is only slightly reduced in 4WD compared to 2WD. With any grading attachments installed I would have to use 4WD uphill so that has to be the baseline. I really want to...

Compact tractor for grading long and steep driveway?

The Bobcat CT2040(HST) compact tractor that I just purchased is proving to be not up to the task of grading and maintaining my long and steep driveway. It seems anemic in power compared to my previous John Deere 855. I don't know if it's because of the increased weight of the Bobcat or gearing...

    New Bobcat CT2040 Owner

I just took delivery of a new Bobcat CT2040. The decision in selecting this tractor was somewhat simple. Bobcat, Kioti, LS Tractors - Rear Remote Kits Similar?

Since the above manufacturers have similar if not the same tractors what are the odds that the rear remote kits would be the same? I have a Bobcat CT2040 and was wondering if it would be cheaper to get it from other than Bobcat. BTW, has anyone installed the kit on this tractor?

    Concerned with new Bobcat CT2040

I just took delivery of a new Bobcat CT2040. While going up my somewhat long and steep driveway it bogged down to a standstill in high range. Shifting to medium moved the tractor along at a reasonable pace but seemed strained. Low range is extremely slow and not much good for getting from one...

    New tractor purchase added charges?

The CT2040 is included for the free loader incentive but it seems the dealer is taking some of it back with the added charges. I suspect the 3033R is a better tractor and may be better off with it over the CT2040 even if purchasing used. I would be more motivated with the Bobcat if the dealer...

Justify price difference between a John Deere 3033R and Bobcat CT2035

I just sold my John Deere 855 and would like to replace it with a John Deere 3033R but I'm having a hard time justifying the price difference between it and a Bobcat CT2035, which on paper seems very similar. Is the John Deere reputation and brand name worth that much of a difference or are...

The quoted price from a new Bobcat dealer was straight MSRP with the above additional charges not including tax. My preference is for a John Deere, probably a 3033R new or used but I may make an offer for the Bobcat. The CT2040 seems to be a decent tractor. I'm not in a hurry so I'll spend...

    New tractor purchase added charges?

A quote for a new tractor purchase included the following additional charges. I don't remember paying these before. Are they appropriate or is the dealer taking advantage of a manufacturer's promotion? Dealer P.D.I. - $350 Freight Charges - $650 Other Charges: Material and Logistics - $281
