Plant 'em deep. Check the span tables, but to span 12 feet, you'd roughly want a 12 inch thick pole or beam. I would set them in concrete if it were me. Use tar for the underground portion of the wood pole...

As a longtime GC, I would say absolutely you 'can' run a project as an Owner/Builder. The hardest part as mentioned is getting and running the subs. But it depends on the level of quality you desire as well. There is no way you can achieve the level of quality that a GC with years of experience...

OP - I just went through this decision process (with great help from this forum) and settled on the Kioti CK2610, which arrives this Friday! Compared to the Kubota L2501, which seemed to be the most comparable model, it seemed to have similar quality, more features and was $4400 less. Easy...

Our current two guys (brother and sister) are amazing. Half Blue Heeler and the other half Dobie and Lab. The girl looks like a Heeler and the brother like a Doberman (don't know where the Lab went). A perfect combination of smarts and love!

I think that's it. Being a life-long Contractor/builder, I usually buy a beat up house with good bones and make it beautiful. I know I can because I've done it so many times. With a tractor I have zero confidence in my abilities.

Looking at Kioti now because their model 2510 comes with a front loader, rear gannon and brush hog for $18490. The Kubota is over $21k with only the loader. I will need another larger trailer to haul it to the Kioti dealer, but 1-1/2 hours is not too bad and it's a beautiful drive.... :-)

Both of the dealers I'm looking at (Kubota & Kioti) are offering$0 down, 0% financing for 7 years. I wonder how long they will offer that with the upcoming inflation?

I just bought down to a 2003 Chevy 2500HD model from a newer 1500. Wanted the extra power and towing. It only has 130k miles and the previous owner had babied it (mostly). I've added larger tires and getting a 2" front lift this week. Gets 14 mpg. Nothing like a truck.

LouNY, I'll consider that, thanks! We do get snow being at 5000 ft, but only sometimes is it deep....usually just melts in a couple days. Both of my vehicles are 4WD though, I saw neighbors getting stuck last year......I tend to favor 4x4.
