    Jinma 254 Rear Creaking Noises

I thought I had read somewhere that loose wheel nuts cause a creaking noise but I can't locate that thread anymore. This has been happening for a while. Not sure when it started. I have the wheels bolted on at the widest possible setting. I tried tightening the wheel nuts but the noise...

    Jinma 254 backhoe hydraulic leak

I hadn't thought to check the parts manual but after having a look it does confirm that there is no grease fitting and that is not just an ommission for my machine.

    Jinma 254 backhoe hydraulic leak

I did have my backhoe buried in the shed but have found it more than usefull for dragging around scrub and small trees in to burn piles. It also adds good ballast to the back. I welded a mechanical thumb on to yesterday hoping to increase its usefuleness.

    Jinma 254 backhoe hydraulic leak

Can anyone who owns a jinma backhoe tell me if there are grease nipples on the pins at the ram ends that move the boom left and right. The photo might help show where they are. I cannot see any grease nipples or threads of missing ones. This is odd because there are no shortage of grease...

    Jinma 254 backhoe hydraulic leak

I managed to repair the leak. It was just the loose hose join. By extending the boom and stick and bucket out and lowering it all below the horizontal the gap to work through opens up enough to get a couple of spanners in there. Still needed to undo the two hard line clamps to get at it but did...

    Silt Scoop

The back tips forward. I just got told by someone who remembers his family used them way back to clean the silt out of a dam/pond. He said they used 2 tractors, one pulling it via a cable forward to collect the load, the flap gets pulled up to empty it then the other tractor, that is hooked up...

    Silt Scoop

Anyone know how to use one of these? I believe it is a silt scoop but the person I got it from hadn't used it and doesn't know how its used. I am hoping I can use it to maintain some dams that have not been cleaned out for a long time. Anyone got ideas as to how to use it?

    Jinma 254 backhoe thumb

Funnily enough as soon as i posted that I couldn't find anything in Australia I found this 18 inch Backhoe Excavator Thumb Attachments Weld | eBay which had always been out of stock for as long as I have been looking so I am thinking think I will go with it.

Are you saying that will fit? I have seen those and thought that would do but can't find any shipping to Australia. If I had to negotiate shipping from the US I'd have to be really sure.

    Jinma 254 backhoe thumb

Anyone got a bolt on or weld on mechanical thumb (non hydraulic) on their jinma JW-03 backhoe? I would like to know if there is one ready made to suit or wether you made one and your experiences/advice.

    Jinma 254 backhoe hydraulic leak

My backhoe is leaking from one of the curl function hose joins behind the boom cylinder where the hose connects to the hardpipe. The trouble is i cant even get my hand in there to peel off the cable wrap to confirm if the joiner needs tightening or its the hose. Anyone had experience getting to...

    Jimna 254 hard starting

You are correct. Wet day here. Went and started the tractor after not using it for 2 wks. Its mild temp here. Around 11deg celcius. Gave it 30sec of glow plugs (maybe that is too much), set the throttle to completely closed and she started up straight away and idled fine.

    Jimna 254 hard starting

What size pto implements are you guys running? Im researching a flail mower. When looking at tractor attachments they are sized on the HP of the tractor. The trouble with is that the HP of the tractor doesnt indicate the size of the tractor frame or the width and size of the wheels. Im...

I did it try it there but ended up putting it closer to the fuse box. Its the ground for the horn.
  20. J

    Jimna 254 hard starting

Tractor starts consistently now. I think the main issue was the poor electrical connections to the battery post but took me too long to figure it out. The starter always seem to spin strong but its a very fine line between starting and not starting.

    Jimna 254 hard starting

After reading a bit more about skid steer quick hitch i think my previous question was pretty dumb. I get it now that the mounting plate goes on the buckets. My initial idea is to test pilot a steel grate or heavy duty gate bolted or mounted on to the bucket somehow. Getting it strong enough...

    Jimna 254 hard starting

Could you have welded a mounting plate to the fel and and a set of mounts to the bucket?
  23. J

    Jimna 254 hard starting

Are you planning to add to the existing bucket or do a new one? My bucket has reinforcing steel along the top which was designed to hook up a couple of very heavy duty fork tines that are too heavy for the lifting capacity. The advantage of this top bar is that it can can take a lot more...

I dont have a pic but i have the valve on the outside and the weight on the inside and also flipped the centre hub so its the widest it can be. I used this as a guide. Except when i did the 5th setting i found tyre rotation was the wrong way so I didnt need to alternate left and right. Maybe i...

    Jimna 254 hard starting

Thanks. Is there any identifying markings or numbers on your valve? Im pretty happy with the tyres at the widest settings. Have you done the same? There are four bolts on each side of the front end loader that bolt onto the black frame near the battery box. These were very loose. The bolt...

My alternator belt guard also had a broken tab. I left it off when changing the fanbelt. That was a mistake. Yesterday a stick bent the alternator pulley fan causing it to rub against the new belt so ill put the gaurd back on but it is obviously at risk of being damaged as is the cooling fan...

    Jimna 254 hard starting

Finally put the jinma to some work today clearing shrubs and small growth. Goes well but would love for it to have a bash plate underneath to stop sticks and branches from flicking up and hitting the fan and alternator but also to protect from rocks. FEL jerkiness is the biggest issue. Just...

    Jimna 254 hard starting

Looks like replacing the positive terminal connector on the battery may have improved things. Last couple of starts have been immediate. Cant discern any difference in the cranking speed. Ive been heating glow plugs for 30secs which seems a bit much given the mild temps but seems to work. On...

    Jimna 254 hard starting

Handy looking document. Jumping ahead of myself here but Adjustment of Advance angle of supply fuel is listed as one of the causes of difficult start. Haven't come across this adjustment before or even seen it mentioned on this forum. Might be something I look at checking when it is convenient.

Old chinese proverb which I made up myself just now. 'People who sneer down at cheap tractor owe lots of money' I alternate between thinking this is a bargain and this is a lemon at least twice a day. I think it will be fine though. It's almost there. To think that a faulty fuse blade can bring...

    Jinma 254 ignition switch problem

Some great info there. Cleaning takes time but not as much time as buying and fitting parts that dont fix the problem. That chart wil come in very handy, thank you. How old is your tractor? You said you have had it for 17 years. Was it new. So far all the bolts ive undone have been in very good...

Machine has 150hrs on it but its 17 years old. Yes it has a decompression lever. 60 deg does seem too low. Where did you find a hotter thermostat? The way you describe starting is pretty much my experience except for first starts.

    Jimna 254 hard starting

Ive got a theory that it could be the positive lead connector at the battery that is at fault. Cant work on it until 2 wks time but this would explain why it would always start with jumper leads. The jumper lead was connected to the cable not the connector or the battery post so it bypassed the...

I should add i have also done a compression test on the cooling system. No obvious leaks. A small amount of coolant does come out the radiator cap overflow but from what i have read that may be normal. So i dont suspect a leak into the coolant system.

    Jinma 254 ignition switch problem

Hell of a lot of wires behind that instrument cluster. Most of the connectors are brittle but this isnt unique to just this tractor. One thing i am impressed with is the labels on the cables. That is an excellent idea and the labels seem robust. Might be tempted one day to bypass the lot. All i...

    Jinma 254 ignition switch problem

So i jumpered between the starter positive and the power in on the keystart. The switch seemed to work immediatly. I couldnt see if the glow plugs were working because the amp meter was bypassed but i could see voltage at the glow plug post of the keystarter and i could also see the lights on...

  41. J

    Jimna electrical wire

I agree. Ill be putting the correct size fuses in. Ive ground that loose wire to the horn mounting bolt. What the loose wire, the missing fuse box cover and the wrong fuses indicate to me is that this tractor has had electrical starting issues (which i was not told about) prior to me buying it...

    Jinma 254 ignition switch problem

Everything seems to either work or not work. That is the best way i can describe it. Except for when the glow plugs were the only things not working. Even that was not permanent because i did see them drawing power afterwards when things suddenly came alive briefly. Ill do your jumper...

    Jinma 254 ignition switch problem

I'm stumped. Im now consistently getting 12v to cable no 5 spade terminal at back of starter switch which comes from the amp meter. That is the only voltage test ive done. Looks like some of my fuses are wrong too. The ammeter has a 25 instead of 30, the horn has a 30 instead of a 10, the flasher has a 30 instead of a 7.5, the worklight has a 30 instead of a 20, the headlights have a 30 instead of a 20. Jimna electrical wire

On mine the horn is mounted with a nut and bolt in the middle of the upper and lower fuse block screws on to the back of the fuse block mount. Now that i look at it, its obvious that it is the only place that it can go. Thats a good schematic.
  47. J

    Jinma 254 ignition switch problem

Thanks. I was incorrect to say the ammeter still worked. It doesnt. Probably wouldnt be having as many issues if this tractor hadnt been kept outdoors for years.
  48. J

    Jimna electrical wire

The schematic indicates ground but i was hoping someone could show me where it is ground. The wire is only about 6 inches long so it has to be around the area shown on my photo right above the engine label on the rocker cover. Is it the rocker cover nut maybe?

Yet another problem. Tractor started. Was warming it up. I tested the lights. Most were working then suddenly the headlights flickered and died. Fel stopped working

I'm thinking to the main circuit all has to be the same. Bit like a blood pressure reading I guess. One thing struck me as real strange. When the fluid was out of the system the steering wheel almost spun freely as if it were not connected mechanically to the front. Very unlike a car power...

    Fel stopped working

I was confused too. I thought the pump was dead but everything is working. My theory is that while the hydraulic fluid is not being diverted to any function (power steering,FEL or 3pt) the pressure is low and the flow is high. Bit like a 1inch water hose seems to have less pressure than a half...

    Fel stopped working

I put a new hydraulic filter on with new fluid. I tightened the pressure relief valve on the loader controller two turns. I put a tee fitting with a gauge on the line from the pump to the loader controller. I ran the tractor. No change. Gauge was reading around only 200psi. When the steering...

    Fel stopped working

good post. Makes sense. How can i 100% confirm its the controller? Can it be done using a pressure gauge? What readings are to be expected. could a flush out be worth a try? Could i borrow the backhoe control to troubleshoot somehow? Should i remove and try and clean the loader controller...

    Fel stopped working

Thks. Thats gunna take me a while to digest. In the meantime i confirmed flow thru the quick connect from pump to loader. As reputation the QC has indeed failed. Fel stopped working

The more i think of it the less i understand what on earth that priority valve does and why. I have attached a drawing of what my circuit looks like. There are two ports from the PV going to the steering box. What do they do? One must provide pressure. The other seems tees off to the steering...

    Jimna 254 hard starting

I did follow the hand primer and bleeding procedure. That wasnt the cause. I even cracked the hard nuts at the injectors to confirm a dribble of fuel at each injector. With the glow plugs i used the amp meter on the dash to isolate the faulty plugs. Cant remember exactly how but i disconnected...
