Hello I've just bought some parts for the fuel pump on my perkins 4.236 , and they mixed up the springs , so i got two little transfer pressure regulating spring that's 6mm in diameter instead of a 10.6mm in diameter ;Lucas CAV DPA, DPS and DP200 transfer pressure spring - Diesel Injection...

i used vinegar cause i didn't have diesel and didn't want to use water , there not holes or cracks .

Hey Ok so i took them all out again dipped them in oil and put them back in , and so i had put number 1 and 4 in and tightened the bolts as har as i could and it was rotating fine , i could rotate it with a spaner then i put number 2 in. It went down the cylinder alright but when i tightened...

Ok thanks for the guide i will try it . i did connect negative to the shaft and positive to the copper and there was no connection . Iforgot the dip rwo of the pistonsin oil before putting them in . Would that be it ? i did put oil in the cylinders and bearings

Can i use sand paper just to get it the rust off . The rust is only at the top, the rest of the cylinder looks alright .

Here's some photos of the cylinders . i've put coke in the cylinders to get rid of the rust . What do you think ? Would they be alright to run just fora bit to test the tractor or does it need new cylinders . How should i get rid of the rust on the cylinders ?Thanks T

Hey Thanks for the advice . So i took the head off to check the pistons and cylinders and the only rust is was just a little ring at the top of each cylinder so i wiped and cleaned everything and put the head back on without the injectors in and turned the engine over and it spun at a good...

But i haven't got a working solenoid , if i engage the starter then connect positive to the blue terminales will it start the tractor ? or will it damage it?

Sorry "Terminales" as in both that go to the starter.

So just to make sure i apply the positive to the terminale circled in blue .

Ok . i've taken it apart ,cleaned it up inside and put it back together again, and tested it not on the tractor and it spun like a normal starter at a good speed then put it on the tractor and engaged the bendix then connected to the battery . All it did was sparked ,didn't even try to turn...

There's no solenoid on it , so i just put pushout the bendix by hand. For some reason the starter won't turn the fly wheel . Should i try using bigger cabbles then .

Yeah just sparked like the starter was seized . yeah the engine turns over alright so don't what wrong but don't want to damage the battery(it's fairly new ) .

I the tractor shop i got they say they have got any thin threaded bolts. No i live in France . i found some online , might get them . With the starter i took it off the tractor and put negative on the frame of the starter and the positive on the one that you told me too and it spun fine then...

Hey Thanks for your reply . so i've just been adjusting the valves and found out that one of the things that push up the valve rods is stuck in the up position and won't go down . Should i tap with a hammer till it goes down ? what would you guys advise ? Thanks T
