Can’t loosen hydraulic hose (not a quick connect)

Thanks for all the responses. To answer the various points, etc: That darkness you see around the nut is not a squeezed o-ring. It’s just darkness. I can’t get a clear close up picture, but the nut is actually flared back slightly where each flat side meets, thus creating that dark spot...

Tried vise grips, as well as this locking crescent wrench. No dice……. The metal nut is almost too soft.

Yes - that’s the flare nut wrench, but that metal bulge on the line prevents me from getting the wrench onto yhe nut.

Can’t loosen hydraulic hose (not a quick connect)

Problem is that there is a metal bulge in the hose fitting right in front of the nut, so there’s no way to get the flare nut wrench over the bulge and onto the nut. I have no idea what the purpose of that metal bulge is, other than to possibly strengthen where the fitting connects with the hose.

Can’t loosen hydraulic hose (not a quick connect)

Thanks for the suggestions. The hose that I’ve partially rounded the nut off is actually a good hose, so I don’t want to ruin it (any more) if possible. . The hose that’s leaking is on the inside bottom, and the only way to get that hose off is to take the other three hoses off first so that I...

No air hammer…..I’ll work on it some more with basic hammering. It has to come loose at some point. I was just wondering if (hopefully) there was some “magic” tool out there that would work better. If the fitting didn’t have that built-in hump in it, those flare nut wrenches would do...

Thanks I’ve hit the fitting to try to break the bond, but no luck. I’ve soaked them in PB Blaster for a few days too. I looked at those Crowfoot wrenches, but assumed that I would have the same potential stripping issue as I have with my regular socket wrench. I do have enough leverage...

Starting problems with John Deere 250 skid loader

Make sure that your continuous hydraulics switch is off if you have one. On my ASV skidsteer, if I leave that switch on (it’s used for the snowblower), the skidsteer will act like it’s dead. Luckily I’ve done it enough times now that I know what is going on as soon as it happens.

Looking to counter Bobcat's rort with it's ripoff prices for mower parts to suit the CT1025.

Can you just take your deck belt off and measure it to look for a matching belt (not necessarily Bobcat)? Or take it to a supply shop to match it to a replacement (ie: to match any groove depth, etc).

Water Heater Help Needed,,, It Has Air In It After A While

I’m on well water with a bladder tank and water softener, but I have an on-demand water heater. Occasionally (not all the time) when I start the shower in the morning (in a second floor bathroom), I’ll get a very quick shot of air. Not extremely noticeable, but I can hear it. I always have...

Need Advice on Front Mount Snow Blowers

The only problem with a blower is that it could be really slow on a quarter mile run. It depends, of course, on the type of snow - powder vs wet snow. The wetter and heavier the snow, the slower it will be. The main benefit of a good snowblower is its ability to move the snow farther away...

    Troubleshoot a 7 pin snowblower

I can’t help with your specific questions, but when I had a plow on my truck, I frequented a snowplow forum alot, and there were many similar questions whereby the most common solution was that one of the male pins in a connector was missing or bent and not making contact. Your question kind of...

    Shear pin nightmare

FWIW, I didn’t have a problem with the fan freezing up on me until probably 7 or 8 years after I had it. It’s possible that, over time, either because of the original paint wearing off, or maybe a slight change in tolerances, the freezing up of the fan just starts happening. Who...

Making replacement hydrostatic transmission case gasket to stop oil leak (Cub Cadet 127).... I really don't want to screw this up.

Just a thought, but if you have any club cadet dealers/repair shops around, physically go there with your old gasket or the specs to see if they have it, as they probably have to deal with this too on occasion. It wouldn’t show up on an internet search, because they probably don’t generally...

    Shear pin nightmare

Two possible issues: 1. Shear pins you are using may be the wrong grade (too weak). Check the manual to see what grade they shoukd be. 2. The slight moisture that builds up around the fan that shoots the snow up through the chute while it’s running (melting particles of snow due to friction...

my Bobcat ct335 doesn't start when outside temperature is below 50 degrees.

How hard is it to learn to use a rental mini-excavator?

The learning curve is very short, especially if you’re already familiar with operating equipment (in terms of being careful, respecting the power of hydraulics, etc). How much transmission fluid to add??

I don’t have a dipstick for hydraulic oil in any of my equipment. You’ll have to use the site glass. The glass may be fine; it may be that there’s just not enough fluid in it to raise it to where you can see it. Based on what you described, I’d put in a little under 4 gallons, then maybe...

When to use, or not use, the diff lock?

There was like a 30’ or so circle in one spot that was always wet; green thick grass grew over it. Seem to have ample water supply here, so there may be an underground source keeping it that wet. I just figure it’s best to engage the locker for ten seconds than spend two hours getting...

My MF1540 fuel filter would gel up easily; telltale sign of gelling issue is that it will run fine at idle because of the slower fuel delivery, but as you throttle it up, the fuel flow past the gelled filter can’t keep up. Like you, I started using PowerService to prevent the gelling; I...

No power after battery change on New Holland Workmaster 33

Sounds like you both batteries you were trying were used, but re-charged. Batteries can be an enigma, especially when temps are colder than normal. If it were me, I’d buy a brand new battery tomorrow and see if that fixes everything. Worst case, you have an extra battery (or return it).

When to use, or not use, the diff lock?

I had some wet spots in my field that would never dry up, so when brush hogging, I would step on the differential lock as I was coming up to it so that the rears were locked by the time I got into it.
