Thanks for the responses everyone. Ryan, I think I'll hold off on the pics but thanks anyway. I'm in round two right now. I've taken it and dropped it off at my local diesel shop that I've used in the past. I 'll let you guys know what they find. I didn't give them any information about what Ford said. All I told them was I had cold start issues and probably had a ICP sensor malfunction read by a code reader. Until then...

Update: I called today and they have it in the shop. They're replacing the ICP sensor as I write this. I'll know more tomorrow.

Well I got the old girl picked up today. The damamges are $973.91. That breaks down to $126.54 for a gasket kit, $156.00 for a ICP sensor, $6.00 for 2 quarts of oil, $650.00 for 10 hrs of shop time, $19.50 for shop supplies and $15.87 for Big brother! OUCH! The sad part of the whole thing is that in 2004 or 2005 they started putting this sensor on the passenger side valve cover where all you have to do is reach in, unplug it and unscrew it with out taking anything off! Probably not more that 1 hour shop time! Wow! That would have saved me $585.00!:confused2:

My Ford Dealer charges $120/hr shop time. If I could get your shop rate I would have the Dealer do all the work.
glad you are set to go now.

Glad you got it fixed and good thing the shop rate was what it was. That is cheap. If that is all that has happened to a 7 year old truck you are lucky. Enjoy the truck.

Yes, their hourly rate is reasonable. They do a lot of big trucks and the shop is always busy. I missed taking my truck in on the day we had scheduled (my schedule got jerked around) and when I did get it there two days later their "wall of work orders" had doubled! They do good work and this is the first time I've had my 6.0 PSD worked on. They've worked on my 7.3 PSD several times for normal things. He told me early on that when I start bringing the 6.0 in that things might suprise me....He was right! I bought this truck in 2006 when it was 3 years old and had only 36,500 miles on it. It now has 78,000 and it's been a learning experience since finding out about the early 6.0 issues. I've not experienced all of that and have heard of others not experiencing those issues as well. The only problem that I see since picking it up is that it still has the 5 chimes x 5 times thing. Does anyone here have a clue?

Update: I searched the web enough yesterday to come across an answer to my 5X5 chime thing. Turns out my SRS (airbag) system confirmation light in the instrument panel is burned out. My first check will be the fuse. After that I guess i'll have to dig for the light in the cluster. So file that one away guys just in case you run across it!

I'm always curious why there are sound and flashing light thingies that are hard for us old folks to decipher or perhaps activate and remember when it should not be costly to have a simple LED display readout with a hold on it so we have time to find the magnifying glass and read it.
