I recently bought one knowing that the transmission was bad. I bought the work shop manual and checked the fluid pressure at the 3 ports, forward-reverse-neutral, and have absolutely no pressure from any of them. Any suggestions on where to start looking for the problem? Thanks

If you can understand it, the WSM has detailed descriptions with pictures in regards to how the system works. These are in 2-M1 thru 2-M20.

Also in 2-S series are troubleshooting diagrams that might help.

It's pretty complex but outlines all the processes that a Mechanic at your dealership would do to diagnose the problem.

I assume when you say you bought the WSM you are talking about the 479 page document?

no pressure at all could be due to a severely clogged filter, or broken pump/drive to it..

Yes on the WSM

I'm certainly no expert and I struggle to follow the writings in the Manual. But, the answer to your problem is there. I'd start by reading "M" section thoroughly and try to grasp as much understanding of how it works that my pea size brain could absorb. Then the information in "S" section might make more sense.

It sure sounds like there's no pump output as suggested by radios1.

Found the problem. This is the bearing from the HST pump. Now all I have to do it find a new bearing and the 8 pistons because it scarred them up too.

If the piston slipper and swash plate surfaces are not perfect you will not have a successful repair.
