I bought to '06 gas burner. The new carb make it run smoother and start easier than the '05. the ride and steering is noticably better and the true four wheel drive is hard to beat in the mud. The electronic switch for the front wheel drive is easy to use. The '06 upgrades were worth the wait. Ken K.

well i recently went to my JD dealer and he talked me out of getting the 06 gator. i don't know why he did it but he did .he told me if you like your 05 keep it point blank!!!!.i like the true 4 wheel drive feature on the 06 but he said let them run them for a while to test them before you buy one or trade in your 05.i guess he has a point. i recently used my hpx in a parade 5 miles long and 5 hours of continuose running not to mention i was pulling a 16 foot trailer with a load of about 2000K i was impressed. my lights and battery held up perfectly.

I am planning to buy a HPX, and would like the Diesel, but JD says the belt/clutch enclosure is not available on it. Do those owners of the HPX Diesel feel the belt protection is not needed? I've read several posts on the desirability of the protection. Does the diesel's guts have a different configuration to the drive line that makes the belts enclosure not feasible (or needed) ??

I would say that the belt drive enclosure would probably not be exactly feasible on the diesel, I have included a picture to kind of tell the story, but the only way to really get something in there is through the top there is kind of a guard on the bottom...

And if you do decide to buy this request that they replace the factory oil filter with john deeres replacement because the filter is in such a bad spot and the factory filter can't have a wrench put over it that we had to call a service tech just to get a stupid oil filter off..
