That is a new one to me. Could it be the filter or fluid change done by the previous owner was wrong? You still have the old filter? I've changed a ton of filters in my life and never had one self destruct.
Glad the leak is now a dribble. I've got a few dust beards around some of my fittings but if it ain't tracking down all over everything, it gets cleaned up perodically.
Did you get your brothers' corral built?
I tossed the old one. The guy changed the filters once in over 300 hours and there was some discoloration to the hydraulic fluid. I'm pretty sure the fluids except motor oil were never done.
I tried to take a picture of the thing before tossing but every shot was blurry.
I started on the coral about 2 weeks ago and decided to buy/make a stump puller. I've seen a few links/been sent some by TBN members to look at and think it would go faster with one. Mind you, it was fun pushing the trees over but the old stumps from the last time it was logged were too much for the tractor. I also didn't get too far because he used those 3 little words "if you dare" in reference to leveling out the ATV trails
But, the coral is on the back burner again, his well died so my SIL who's a plumber and I are going to pull it up (200' deep) and replace that before getting into something else too deep. I'll use the tractor to pull it up and if that doesn't work, hang a winch off the bucket. Want to make sure I pull it up straight! Don't want the pipe snapping off and drilling a new one that's for sure.
I tore a bicep muscle last week so I have to work smarter and not harder for a little while
Sorry about the long post but I was having all kinds of fun playing with it up there
