I can't believe we're done. All the talk of reconditioned tractors, and gray market filling a niche, parts are available-- What a crock! Called everybody on the list and can't find an engine. So what do you do with a new-looking Yanmar FX28D /Front end loader that doesn't run? I suppose it's good business to prey on the reputation of a good tractor, patch it up with paint, decals, stop leak, and silicone gaskets. Maybe somebodycould start importing Yanmar engines. You could get a lot more in a shipping crate.

Why don't you post a list of the parts you need to rebuild your engine and we can find the parts for you.
I rebuilt my FX335 with parts that were easy to find here from the dealers.

Just curious, if you were aware about reconditioned tractors and the failure rate of them, why did you buy one? and for $10,000 at that! wow

Small Yanmar diesel engines are plentiful in the marine community. The size of engine you need is common in sailboats from about 40' and up. I haven't done any of the homework re compatibility but if you're sitting with good peripherals and only need a long block, it might be a solution for you.

Commonly used in industrial applications as well...plus, parts or entire engines from a Deere CUT might work for you.

all the talk of recondition tractors? it's that kind of talk that makes me walk. any time I hear 'yanamr' and 'reconditioned' in the same sentence I think 98% possibility of a backyard vietnam rebuilding scam and mismatched barely running machines and parts..

Yeah...me too.
Yanmar's make great engines, but those "reconditioned" grey market machines are not for the faint of heart.

You say that but when you look at the number sold and the amount of complaints on here there not all bad. Yes there are lots that are, and many have small issues, but i bet many of these tractors sold on CL and other places are reconditioned but not told as so cause there on a second owner or third and its just not known. There are working ones out there that are fine. The owners of working recons that are not really hands on folks are not going to be searching out repair forums for their working tractors. I bet there are thousands of these sold for years here in the US.yep....
That said there are some american ones that have trouble as well that were "built" here in the US some of the members here have them as well. I would also include there are some on here as well that have origianl yanmars with some of the same problems as well just not as many.
