10-3 Direct Burial wiring question

   / 10-3 Direct Burial wiring question #31
Maybe, but in 1984 I had an inspector for the state of Ohio, tell me I could not run one 12/2 Romex wire through 1/2 conduit, in a commercial building.

He said, if I did not remove the outer jacket, he would pass it.

He was cutting us some slack by letting us run a few Romex wires through the attic without conduit. So, I did not argue.

He insisted the same wires that ran down the inside of the finished walls, be in conduit. :confused2:

Sorry, I meant to say: He said, if I did not remove the outer jacket, he would NOT pass it.

Wire is fine for direct burial. But, for 2-20 circiuts you'll need a 4th wire. Personally, I'd just run a single 20A circuit off that and call it good. Watch your depth. You can get by @ 12" if the cable is GFCI protected at the source.

12" is a good depth to accidentally dig it up. :(

I use a Klein (part # 1005) crimper for the crimp connectors you would need. I've seen too many crimps fail when a cheapo "six in one" tool was used. They are about 20+$ at DIY store. We use all stranded wire (quite often tray cable wire) at my plant and I've put thousands of crimps on.
