Did my oil change today what a pain in the butt. The oil filter wouldn't come off. So I had to take the housing off then brought it to a garage and took them a hour to get it off. So a simple oil change became a all day thing. Also still waiting for my new ignition switch.

Well don't put it on so tight.

Well don't put it on so tight.

I had the dealer do the 50hr oil change because I couldn't get that one off. This time I put the flitter on so I shouldn't 't have a problem the next time.

Smear oil around filter gasket makes it easier to remove...sometimes pipe wrench will help. ;)

You think that is bad. I have a street bike and the first oil change the factory puts the filter on so tight (12ft#), had to drive a screwdriver through the filter just to remove it. Think ; no room at all to work with. #$%@& factory.
Tractor is just like our trucks and now I do the bike that way too, hand tighten ; snug then quarter of a turn, never had a problem.

I used the pipe wrench method on my hst filter on the 50 hour change and it worked good. I broke a filter wrench before trying the pipe wrench.

Nothing is bad as the first hydro filter change on a DKSE. I could not believe how tight that was on there and with all the people on here saying the same thing, I know I'm not alone here. Had to do the screwdriver thing and then all my fluid siphoned out. Many lessons learned that day.

I talked to my grandfather he said sounds like what the Massey dealer did to him so you would have to go to them again to get them off. They make more on service then sales. So he did the same take the oil housing off brought that part to get the filter off then put the new one on himself and that was that. He said a few years later the dealer got in trouble for purposeful do things to the tractor's to get more money out of farmers. This was in the 80's .

This worked for me . Cut a strip of sand paper about 2 inches wide and long enough to wrap around the filter . Fold in half long way with sandy side facing out on both sides . Insert between filter and wrench ,and good luck !

A little bit of penetrant around the rubber gasket and leave it for a while, then give it a go

I guess you could do Red Green style and do it with Duct Tape. LOL
I understand that if you go driving through the woods and run over limbs that on some Kioit's that a certain filter will get removed without having to touch it.:)

I spent some time indeed on the Hydraulic filter on the DK35se. I wound up driving a piece of 1/2 inch all thread thru it. I bought a chain wrench later, but shouldn't need it. I didn't have any trouble with the oil or the hydrostat filter. But that hydraulic filter was put on by one stout Korean fella.

I'm glad I read these forums that mentioned the difficulty in removing the filters for the first time. I was prepared with a ratchet strap wrench, and needed it. The hydraulic filter buckled slightly before finally coming loose. The mounting plate the engine oil filter attaches to twisted slightly before the filter broke loose. I straightened the mounting plate and tightened the nut that holds it.

I've had no problems with subsequent changes (now at 440 hrs). Some say the original tight filters are from painting after the filters are installed. Whatever the reason, it would be nice if Daedong changed their procedures to ensure the filters are installed as per their instructions (I think they say 1/2 turn after contact) and reasonably easy to remove.

But the instructions in these forums were great. They kept me from panicing at the overly tight filters.
