I had a L-130 used it to mow a little over an acre. Sold it last summer it had about 140 trouble free hours on it. I sarted mowing about 5+ acres had to get a bigger mower. But the L-130 was a good machine with a good cut.

What influence you not to replace your 130 with another JD?

Just wanted to give a little update. I have been very very happy with the LA135 as it cuts well, is comfortable to ride, and it still looks great. I gave it its first oil change which I found pretty easy to do, and I could not be happier with the unit. I had the blades sharpened which improved the mulching. I learned that if you mulch and the grass is growing a lot, it's best not to wait a full 7 days, as you will have more clippings showing up on the lawn. But I am a Deere lover, and was pleased when JD sent me a free JD hat. I use it every time I cut the grass now. :D It sorta of makes me look more professional. ;)

Well I am now into my second year with my LA135 lawn tractor. I have used it twice so far, and it continues to give me a great cut, mulching, and no maintence issues. Hopefully this will continue for several more years. :D

How many of you guys have added grease zerks to the mower spindles? I have that on my short list of things to do before mowing season starts. How much will this help extend the life?

100 Series

Buy a real John Deere not a cheap knock off.

If I had the money to buy the 300 series I would have. My choice was between a Sears Craftsman or a 100 Series Deere. Who the heck are you to tell me I have to spend more money to cut my grass. If this unit performs great for 10 years, and continues to do the job it has been doing, that I am happy.

I think a better question would be is the deere 300 series that much better than the 100 series to cost 2-3 times as much?

It was around $1,100 more of the 17 hp 300. For what you get with better tires, transmission, engine, and frame, I would say it is worth it.

Well, you might be right, but I'm not so sure.

My thoughts as I've said before,is if you want to buy a cheap lawnmower, than buy the cheapest one in the size you want, that you can find[husky, cub, sears, deere,or any other brand],cause, thats what your wanting and they all [in about same price range, cheapest ones] will be about same quality. But you will save a few hundred,by buying that cheapest one.

But,if you want to try and buy a good, fair priced, middle of the road one,its very hard, cause they ain't but maybe 1 or 2 of those.[and than your not real sure you did better than just buying a cheap one.]

Now if you can spend, over 4,000 dollars on a lawnmower, you increase your chances of getting a better quality mower,But I,[like about everybody,I see mowing their yards],don't have that kinda money to spend on just a lawnmower.
